Hidden Lake Resort Introduce
For local users in the Petersburg, Michigan area seeking a "camping near me" experience, Hidden Lake Resort, located at 16333 Lulu Rd, Petersburg, MI 49270, USA, presents itself as a seasonal campground with a history of positive development and a focus on family-friendly activities. You can reach them at (734) 770-4834 or +1 734-770-4834 for inquiries.
One long-term visitor, who has been coming to Hidden Lake Resort for "13 seasons," describes it as a "great family friendly seasonal campground." This extended patronage suggests that the resort has historically provided a positive experience for families over many years. The reviewer also notes that "through the change of ownership the campground has seen numerous improvements and become more engaging through multiple events." This indicates an ongoing effort to enhance the facilities and the overall guest experience, potentially making it an increasingly attractive option for local families looking for a seasonal camping destination.
The mention of "numerous improvements" suggests that the campground may have invested in upgrading its infrastructure, amenities, or recreational facilities. These improvements could range from updated campsites and common areas to new additions that enhance the camping experience. The fact that the campground has "become more engaging through multiple events" implies a proactive approach to creating a vibrant and interactive community atmosphere. These events could include activities for children, social gatherings for adults, or themed weekends that add an extra layer of fun and engagement for seasonal campers.
However, it is crucial to consider a significant concern raised by another reviewer regarding the campground's approach to accommodating individuals with disabilities and their caregivers. This reviewer, identifying as a registered nurse (RN) accompanying a disabled friend, recounted a negative experience with the manager and his wife. The situation involved the RN needing to bring essential items to her friend, and she described the response from the management as demonstrating a "lack of empathy." The reviewer expressed disappointment with the way they were treated, highlighting a perceived lack of understanding or willingness to make necessary accommodations for a disabled guest and their caregiver. This feedback suggests a potential area where Hidden Lake Resort could improve its sensitivity and service towards visitors with special needs.
The reviewer specifically stated that the campground was "not very friendly to the disabled who still need the serenity of camping, but may have to have accommodations related to caregivers." This points to a potential disconnect between the desire to provide a welcoming environment and the practical application of policies or attitudes towards those requiring additional support. While acknowledging that there may not be a legal obligation to be overly accommodating, the reviewer emphasized the value of basic kindness and empathy, which they felt was lacking in their interaction with the management. This personal account serves as a cautionary note for potential visitors with disabilities or those accompanying individuals with disabilities, suggesting that they may encounter challenges or a less-than-welcoming attitude from the management.
Despite this serious concern, the positive feedback from the long-term seasonal camper indicates that many families have had enjoyable experiences at Hidden Lake Resort over the years, particularly noting the improvements and engaging events. This suggests that the campground may offer a generally positive environment for its regular seasonal community. However, the negative experience of the other reviewer highlights the importance of considering individual needs and the potential for inconsistent service or a lack of understanding regarding accessibility and accommodation.
For local users considering Hidden Lake Resort for their "camping near me" needs, particularly those who are part of families looking for a seasonal campground with planned activities, the positive aspects mentioned by the long-term camper are encouraging. The history of improvements suggests a commitment to enhancing the guest experience. The engaging events could foster a strong sense of community among seasonal residents. However, the reported lack of empathy towards a visitor assisting a disabled friend is a significant issue that potential guests, especially those with disabilities or who travel with individuals with disabilities, should take into account.
Given the conflicting feedback, it would be beneficial for prospective campers to seek more information about Hidden Lake Resort's policies and practices regarding accessibility and accommodations for guests with disabilities. Directly contacting the management to discuss specific needs and to gauge their responsiveness and understanding would be a prudent step before making a commitment. Additionally, searching for more recent reviews from a wider range of visitors might provide a more comprehensive picture of the current environment and service levels at the campground.
As for promotional information, the provided data does not contain any specific current promotions or special offers. Seasonal campgrounds often have their own rate structures and may offer discounts for longer stays or early bookings. Local users interested in becoming seasonal campers at Hidden Lake Resort should contact the campground directly to inquire about seasonal rates, availability of sites, and any current promotions they might be running. Information about the "multiple events" mentioned could also be obtained by contacting the resort or visiting their website or social media pages, if available. These events could be a significant draw for families looking for an engaging and community-oriented camping experience.
In conclusion, Hidden Lake Resort appears to be a family-friendly seasonal campground near Petersburg, Michigan, with a history of improvements and a focus on engaging events, which has fostered loyalty among some long-term campers. However, a concerning recent review highlights potential issues with the management's empathy and accommodation for visitors with disabilities and their caregivers. Local users considering this "camping near me" option should weigh the positive feedback regarding the family-friendly environment and ongoing improvements against the reported negative experience concerning accessibility and staff attitude. It is recommended to seek further information and potentially contact the management directly to address any specific concerns before making a decision.

Hidden Lake Resort Reviews
Great family friendly seasonal campground. Been here for 13 seasons and through the change of ownership the campground has seen numerous improvements and become more engaging through multiple events.
Sep 26, 2024 · Justin PerkinsNot very friendly to the disabled who still need the serenity of camping, but may have to have accommodations related to caregivers. Also, not that they legally have to be nice, but it would be awesome if they were. The manager and his wife left much to be desired after I, as an RN with a disabled friend, needed to take her some items she needed. I just could not believe their lack of empathy. I told them "Karma sucks," because someday they may have needs as they grow old...and I really would never go there again, were it not for my friend.
Sep 23, 2024 · Debra LaddBeautiful and friendly Resort, well maintained, and so glad they enforce the rules. We are blessed with activities and entertainment.
Nov 08, 2024 · David VanderlaanThis is a great seasonal private campground. It is a gated campground and only has seasonal sites which makes it a peaceful place to camp. There is a nice large lake with a sandy beach for swimming and great fishing. Out of all campgrounds I have ever been, they have the nicest and cleanest restrooms and showers! There is even a nice pool of you don't like to swim at the beach. Our friends have a seasonal site and love spending time here with their children.
Jul 23, 2023 · Jay The TravelerLove our campground! Owners really care about safety and cleanliness. Hayrides, and food trucks, even an ice cream truck on event weekends. If the lake's a little cold the pool might get crowded, but once the water warms up float the day away. Seasonal only, so there is occasionally a wait list to get in.
