Hocking Hills Campground Introduce
Looking for an exceptional "camping near me" adventure in the heart of Ohio's natural beauty? Consider Hocking Hills Campground, conveniently located at 19852 OH-664, Logan, OH 43138, USA. You can reach them at (740) 385-6841 or +1 740-385-6841 for inquiries and reservations. Situated in close proximity to the renowned Hocking Hills State Park, this campground provides an excellent base for exploring the region's stunning cliffs, waterfalls, and hiking trails, offering a memorable outdoor experience for solo travelers, families, and groups alike.
The environment surrounding Hocking Hills Campground is undeniably the primary draw for visitors. Nestled in the heart of the Hocking Hills region, the campground benefits from the area's dramatic landscape, characterized by deep gorges, towering rock formations, and lush forests. Campers can expect to be immersed in a natural setting, with opportunities for hiking, exploring caves, and enjoying the scenic beauty that Hocking Hills is famous for. The proximity to Hocking Hills State Park means that some of Ohio's most iconic natural attractions, such as Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls, are just a short drive away, making the campground an ideal location for those eager to explore the park's wonders.
Based on customer reviews, Hocking Hills Campground caters to various camping styles. One reviewer highlighted a positive experience with solo car camping, noting that they were not alone in choosing this option. This suggests that the campground accommodates different preferences and setups. Tent sites are also available, and while one review mentioned that the sites can be "pretty close together" in some areas, this was not perceived as a significant problem by the reviewer. The proximity of tent sites to the bathroom facilities was noted as a major advantage, contributing to a convenient and comfortable stay.
A standout feature of Hocking Hills Campground, according to a delighted visitor, is the cleanliness and quality of the bathroom facilities. The reviewer described the bathroom as "super clean," "quite nice," and "very warm," and specifically praised the campground/public shower as the best they had ever used. This positive feedback regarding the hygiene and comfort of the restrooms is a significant factor for many campers and suggests that the campground prioritizes the maintenance of these essential amenities. For those who value clean and well-maintained facilities, this aspect of Hocking Hills Campground is a considerable plus.
Another significant advantage of Hocking Hills Campground is its convenient location relative to the main attractions of Hocking Hills State Park. Reviewers noted that the campground is "quite close" to the park's key sites, making it easy for campers to access hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and other points of interest without long travel times. This proximity allows visitors to maximize their time exploring the natural beauty of the region and return to the campground for a relaxing evening.
For those seeking a more secluded experience, Hocking Hills Campground also offers a "family walk in" camping area. It's important to note that these sites require a walk from the parking lot, with distances varying significantly between 20 and 1000 meters (approximately 22 to 1094 yards). Campers choosing these sites should be prepared to carry their gear. However, the reward for the walk is more spacious and private campsites, allowing for a greater sense of solitude in nature. While the main RV campground offers showers and flush toilets, the walk-in area utilizes pit latrines, which are reportedly maintained and cleaned daily. Flowing water in the walk-in area is only available at the parking lot, and there is no organized dishwashing area beyond the water spigot. One reviewer provided specific information about site 01, noting its proximity to the parking lot, flatness, and some road noise, while recommending sites 32 and 33 as also flat and close but with less noise.
The services at Hocking Hills Campground appear to cater primarily to tent and car campers. While flush toilets and showers are available at the RV campground (a short drive from the walk-in sites), the walk-in area has pit latrines. The availability of flowing water at the parking lot of the walk-in area provides a basic necessity. The mention of well-spaced sites in the walk-in area suggests that the campground aims to provide a balance between accessibility and a sense of privacy. The daily maintenance and cleaning of the pit latrines indicate a commitment to hygiene even in the more rustic camping areas.

In conclusion, Hocking Hills Campground offers a diverse range of camping experiences for those seeking "camping near me" in the breathtaking Hocking Hills region of Ohio. From convenient tent and car campsites with access to clean and warm bathroom facilities (including excellent showers) to more secluded walk-in sites for a greater sense of wilderness, the campground caters to different preferences. Hocking Hills Campground Reviews
For my first time both solo car camping and at Hocking Hills, the campground was great!!I reserved a tent site and slept in my car, and was glad to see that I wasn’t the only one doing that. Although the sites were pretty close together, that was no problem and the proximity to the bathroom was great. The bathroom alone was reason enough to stay: super clean, quite nice, very warm, and with the best campground/public shower I’ve ever been used. The campground is also quite close to the rest of the park’s main attractions. Would happily stay here again!
Oct 16, 2024 · Benjy BraudeWe stayed at the family walk in. The sites are between 20 and 1000meters (yards) from the parking lot so take that into account. Sites are well spaced so you feel relatively alone. A drive to the showers and flush toilets which are at the RV campground about 3 minutes away. Here only pit latrines which are maintained daily and cleaned. Flowing water is only in the parking lot. No organized place to wash dishes just the water spigot. We stayed in site 01 which is very close to the parking, is flat. Though you do have noise from the road. Site 32 and 33 are also flat and close with less noise.
Oct 18, 2024 · noam zevitGood place to camp because of proximity to Hocking Hills State Park. Campground is older and numerous sites are close together. When making reservations, it's best to make them up to 6 months in advance to secure a site. Overall, the campground is well kept and quiet. Anyone who loves hiking will love this area and the campground is a great base for your adventure!

Jul 02, 2024 · Sean SmithExcellent, nice bathrooms with showers and built-in music. Great warm welcome with cookies. The play area for children is large. Lots of fun things, adult swing looking to lake, fishing, canoes, and kayak. 3 primitive tent sites by trees a little apart from RVs. Close to lake.Lulled to sleep by frogs and cicadas.
