Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Boonville, North Carolina area, Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground, located at 5140 River Rd, Boonville, NC 27011, USA, is an option that appears in search results. However, it is crucial to consider recent feedback from individuals who have stayed at this campground to gain a comprehensive understanding of what to expect. The available reviews paint a concerning picture regarding various aspects of the campground, which potential visitors should carefully evaluate before making a reservation.
Several reviewers have expressed significant dissatisfaction with their experiences at Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground. A primary concern raised is the presence of numerous stray animals on the property. One reviewer stated, "There are stray dogs and cats running around everywhere. My brother-in-law, who is a child, was almost attacked by one of the stray dogs running around." This is a serious safety concern, particularly for families with children or pets, as interactions with stray animals can be unpredictable and potentially dangerous. The presence of stray animals can also contribute to sanitation issues within the campground.
In addition to the stray animal problem, noise levels seem to be a significant issue for some guests. The same reviewer mentioned "the constant barking from dogs owned by others on the campground," indicating a potential lack of enforcement regarding noise policies. Excessive barking can disrupt the peace and quiet that many campers seek, leading to a less than enjoyable experience.
Perhaps the most concerning feedback revolves around the management and their interactions with guests. One reviewer described the owners as having a "God Complex" and alleged that they "does not care about Mental Health or the people on the property." This is a serious accusation that suggests a potentially unwelcoming and insensitive environment for some individuals. The same reviewer also stated that the owners are "incredibly rude" and employ passive-aggressive communication by leaving notes instead of speaking directly to tenants.
Another reviewer echoed these concerns, specifically mentioning an individual named Debbie, presumably one of the owners or managers. This reviewer stated, "If you have a Mental Health condition or service dog don't visit here. Debbie seems to be nice till something happens." They further alleged that their health conditions were used against them, leading to their family being portrayed negatively to other RV resorts. This paints a picture of a management style that may be judgmental and lack understanding or empathy towards guests with specific needs or challenges. The claim of blacklisting at other RV resorts is also a serious concern for travelers.
The physical condition of Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground has also been criticized. One reviewer described it as "run down, straight out of the ‘80’s, and not the good way." This suggests that the facilities may be outdated, poorly maintained, or in a state of disrepair, which can detract from the overall camping experience. Campers often expect a certain level of functionality and cleanliness in campground amenities, and this feedback indicates that Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground may fall short in these areas.
Furthermore, the layout of the campsites appears to be problematic for some visitors. One reviewer noted that "the sites are so close to each other you could kiss your neighbor." This lack of space between campsites can lead to a feeling of being crowded, reduced privacy, and increased noise from neighboring campers, which can diminish the sense of peacefulness and seclusion that many seek in a camping environment.
The issue of inconsistent rule enforcement is another significant concern raised in the reviews. One reviewer stated that the owners "pick favorites and allow certain people to get away with breaking rules but others get a no tolerance policy." Such inconsistencies in enforcing campground rules can create an unfair and potentially tense atmosphere among campers, leading to resentment and a negative overall experience.
Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback in the available reviews, it is difficult to identify any positive aspects or promotional information about Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground based solely on this data. The recurring themes of stray animals, excessive noise, rude and insensitive management, run-down facilities, cramped campsites, and inconsistent rule enforcement should give any potential local users searching for "camping near me" significant pause.
For local campers in the Boonville area, it would be prudent to thoroughly research alternative campgrounds before considering a stay at Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground. Exploring other options in the "camping near me" category that have consistently positive reviews regarding safety, cleanliness, management, and overall atmosphere would likely lead to a more enjoyable and relaxing camping experience. It is always advisable to read multiple recent reviews from various sources to get a balanced perspective on a campground's quality and suitability for your needs.
If, despite these concerns, local users still wish to inquire further about Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground, they can contact them by phone at (336) 367-7756 or mobile phone at +1 336-367-7756. However, it would be wise to approach any interaction with caution and to ask specific questions addressing the issues raised in the reviews, such as measures taken to control stray animals, noise policies and enforcement, the condition of facilities, and campsite spacing. It would also be beneficial to inquire about their policies regarding mental health and service animals to ensure a respectful and accommodating environment.
In conclusion, while Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground is located in the vicinity of Boonville, NC, the available feedback from past visitors raises serious concerns about safety, comfort, management, and the overall camping experience. Local users searching for "camping near me" are strongly advised to carefully consider these issues and explore alternative campgrounds in the area that have received more positive and reassuring reviews to ensure a pleasant and worry-free outdoor getaway.

Holly Ridge Family Camp Ground Reviews
Absolutely horrendous. There are stray dogs and cats running around everywhere. My brother-in-law, who is a child, was anlmost attacked by one of the stray dogs running around. Not to mention the constant barking from dogs owned by others on the campground. The owners also have this God Complex and does not care about Mental Health or the people on the property. It’s run down, straight out of the ‘80’s, and not the good way. The owners are incredibly rude and the sites are so close to each other you could kiss your neighbor. Instead of speaking to their tenants they leave passive aggressive notes all over all the facilities. They pick favorites and allow certain people to get away with breaking rules but others get a no tolerance policy. I would not recommend staying here if you want an enjoyable time.
Apr 07, 2025 · Ben YorkIf you have a Mental Health condition or service dog don't visit here. Debbie seems to be nice till something happens. I have healt conditions that are out of my control and she used that and made my family look like a bad family. She never asked me what happened when one family complained about us. She just assumed. Then after we left her rv resort she called around and told other rv resorts we where a troble family. When the only thing I have is extremely bad panic attacks. The rv resort also run down. She into God but does not treat other people the way God tells you to treat them.
Nov 23, 2024 · Erla GreenThis is by the best campground I’ve ever been too! Definitely a get away. You can go kayaking, off roading, float the river, mini golf, basketball hoop, swim. They have a bath house and a club house. They provide internet. You can hook up an RV, or tent camp. The owners Debbie and Greg are the best and really make this feel like home. I’d highly recommend this campground to anyone anytime!
Sep 26, 2020 · Jason CooperThis is a friendly down to earth real people campground. The folks are great and work so hard to make sure things go right. It has natural beauty to it and a small town nearby for groceries and gas. Gonna make this a regular place for us. They have the usual small store here for campers and refill propane. They have a cute mini-golf course and a nice pool. Don't expect fancy but expect relaxing and satisfaction.
Aug 18, 2020 · Steven RingI have been here now for about 4 months while on a work contract. My views of the mountains and quite woods are just what youneed with a glass of wine. You can watch the sun rise and set. People are friendly but leave you alone. Facilities are clean, washer/dryer, pool table, swimming pool, kids park. Rates can not be beat. Short drive on hwy 67 puts you right in Winston Salem. Debbie looks after the place and is so easy to work with.
