Hudson Ranch: Historic Landmark & Campground Reviews
My family and I stayed at the Hudson Ranch Resort for a weekend in early October 2024. They were very welcoming (even to my dog!), and the area is beautiful! I was able to see and photograph many species of birds, insects, and reptiles while exploring the property and enjoyed some stunning landscapes. The surrounding Los Padres National Forest and Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge also offered amazing wildlife experiences such as California Condors and Desert Tarantulas! Definitely a cool spot to take in some nature!
Oct 14, 2024 · A Birding NaturalistMy wife and I had an excellent time this past weekend up at Hudson Ranch. Beautiful mountain views, brilliant night skies and excellent hikes! I recommend hiking up to the water tower and up to the ridge on the eastern side of the ranch. Bathrooms are clean, shower runs hot, fire rings were great for grilling dinner, the wifi provided at the clubhouse was super fast and the owner, James, was very attentive and hospitable.Just be aware that the flies during the day can be really annoying! If you're hiking around and moving, they're not a big deal, but if you're planning to sit around between 8am and 4pm and there isn't a breeze going, they'll swarm all over you. I recommend you bring a screen tent or something similar if you got it, we'll definitely bring ours the next time we go.
Sep 18, 2024 · Tony de VeyraI had the pleasure of leading a men's weekend with 10 men on this amazing property. The rooms in the bunkhouse were small but clean and perfect suited for our use. We were there to be OUTside! The firepit was great, the clubhouse was great, the showers, kitchen, etc. were all fine. Suited for our needs to stay comfortable, fed and clean. The real magic of this place, however, is the land. From the spectacular views up by the water tank to the views down the valley on the far side of the clubhouse, this magical place will take your breath away. I particularly recommend watching the sun set from near the water tower. If you're lucky, you'll catch the moon rise a short while later and IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND! I've never seen anything like it.The unique location and the magical history of this remote ridge of the Sierras is a real diamond in the rough. Bring what you need so you don't have to leave for food and supplies and you'll be fine! Even if you have to go down into town, the folks in town are great. For a remote camping trip, you can't beat this location. The owners and his team are responsive and welcoming. An amazing spot for a family vacation, group retreat, corporate event, even a rustic romantic getaway! We'll be back! For sure!
Aug 15, 2024 · George P. KansasWe had a joyful stay at Hudson Ranch. What a beautiful, calm, peaceful place. The host provided us with lots of recommendations for hiking routes and local activities. We’ll definitely be back.
Aug 30, 2024 · Mary AtamaniukJust a warning to the public, this is a scam! This place is down the street from my community, and is advertising our private amenities as its own! You will not be able to do golfing, tennis, or use our clubhouse! The mentioned businesses do not offer delivery, so expect to pay whatever the owners decide to charge after bringing food to you. You would be better off looking into one of the legitimate hotels in the area, like the Old Bear Bed and Breakfast or Pine Mountain Inn
