We stayed the weekend at the campground for the first time this past weekend. Long story short, we had a good time, but there could be a lot of improvements as well. Read on for details. The positives..It is a very cool place with plenty to do. It is kid-friendly. It was super easy taking the trolly to Indiana Beach and back. The sites were large and clean. It was not overly wooded. The camp store was awesome and had everything we needed. The negatives..the bathhouses didn’t receive much attention during our stay. The floors stayed muddy and slick the whole time. They were so bad that my 5 year old told me to bring a potty chair next time so she doesn’t have to use them again. We also ran in to stalls without toilet paper several times. Then there was the noise level. It is more of a wild crowd than what I’ve seen in other campgrounds. Golf carts blasting rap music, people up hollering until 2-3am (the quiet time wasn’t enforced), and 7 police cars showed up on Saturday night for some sort of disturbance in the back of the park. The sites in the back were definitely the loudest/craziest. I don’t think it’d be a great area for people that like their peace and quiet. My son hit his head at the splash pad and had a pretty nasty bump from it. The lifeguard had disappeared about 5 minutes before, and we never saw her again. Or any lifeguard for that matter. The day before, a little girl busted her mouth open at the splash pad and the male lifeguard working just sat there and watched everyone else helping her. My friend had to go ask him for the first aid kit he had. The camp store cashier clearly didn’t enjoy her job and was cursing at her malfunctioning cash register the whole time I was in line. Lastly and maybe most frustrating was visitor parking. You’re only allowed 1 vehicle per site and all others have to park in a small grass area by the office. However, there were never any spots available. This only left a small parking lot in front of the office, but when we parked there, we and several others received parking violations telling us to park at our sites, where we were also told we couldn’t park (we had more than 1 vehicle). We did have a safe, good time but would need to see some improvement before we booked again. - Emily Williamson

Indiana Beach Camp Grounds Introduce

For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines the joys of camping with the excitement of an amusement park, Indiana Beach Camp Grounds, located at 2732 NW Shafer Dr, Monticello, IN 47960, USA, offers a unique proposition. Situated in close proximity to the popular Indiana Beach amusement park, this campground provides a convenient base for families and thrill-seekers alike. While recent visitor feedback highlights both the positives and areas needing improvement, understanding these aspects will help local users make an informed decision.

The environment of Indiana Beach Camp Grounds is characterized by its proximity to a major recreational attraction. The ease of access to Indiana Beach via a trolley service is a significant positive, allowing campers to enjoy the park's rides and attractions without the hassle of separate parking. The campground itself is described as "not overly wooded," suggesting a more open layout with potentially sunny campsites. The sites are noted to be "large and clean," providing ample space for campers and their equipment. The presence of a "cool place with plenty to do" in the vicinity makes this campground an attractive option for those looking for an action-packed getaway. The kid-friendly nature of both the campground and its access to Indiana Beach further enhances its appeal to families searching for "camping near me" with entertainment options for children.

The services and amenities at Indiana Beach Camp Grounds include some notable positives. The "awesome" camp store is highlighted for having "everything we needed," suggesting a well-stocked facility where campers can purchase essentials and perhaps even souvenirs. The trolley service to and from Indiana Beach is a significant convenience, providing easy transportation to the amusement park. A key feature mentioned is the campground splash pad, which was a hit with children, as noted by a satisfied visitor whose "kid loved the campground splash park." However, the reviews also point out some areas where services appear to be lacking. The "bathhouses didn’t receive much attention" during one visitor's stay, resulting in muddy and slick floors and instances of stalls without toilet paper. This is a significant concern for basic hygiene and comfort. Furthermore, concerns were raised about the attentiveness and responsiveness of the lifeguards at the splash pad, with reports of a lifeguard disappearing and another seemingly unresponsive to a child's injury. These are serious issues related to safety and the provision of adequate supervision at recreational facilities within the campground. The negative experience with a "cursing" and seemingly unhappy camp store cashier also detracts from the overall service experience. Lastly, the confusing and inadequate visitor parking situation, with conflicting instructions and a lack of available spots, appears to be a source of frustration for guests with more than one vehicle.

The features of Indiana Beach Camp Grounds are centered around its integration with the Indiana Beach experience and some on-site recreational options. The direct trolley access to the amusement park is a major feature, setting it apart from other "camping near me" options that might require separate transportation. The large and clean campsites provide a comfortable base for camping. The presence of a splash pad within the campground offers a dedicated area for children's water play. However, the negative feedback regarding the maintenance and cleanliness of the bathhouses and the concerns about lifeguard attentiveness at the splash pad detract from these features. The noise level, described as a "wild crowd" with loud music and late-night hollering, might be considered a feature by some seeking a lively atmosphere but a significant drawback for those prioritizing peace and quiet. The reported police presence on one night also raises concerns about the overall security and management of the campground environment, particularly in the "back of the park" which was noted as the "loudest/craziest" area.

Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not contain any specific discounts, seasonal offers, or special packages for Indiana Beach Camp Grounds. Local users interested in learning about pricing, availability, or any current promotions should contact the campground directly at (574) 583-4141 or +1 574-583-4141. Visiting the official Indiana Beach website might also provide information on campground deals or packages that include admission to the amusement park. Given the mixed reviews, it would be prudent for potential visitors to inquire about recent improvements or address the concerns raised in the feedback when making their booking.

In conclusion, Indiana Beach Camp Grounds offers a "camping near me" experience with the significant advantage of direct trolley access to the Indiana Beach amusement park and features like large campsites and a splash pad. The camp store is also noted as a positive amenity. However, potential local users should be aware of the reported issues concerning the cleanliness and maintenance of the bathhouses, the noise levels within the campground (particularly in certain areas), concerns about lifeguard attentiveness at the splash pad, and the problematic visitor parking situation. While some visitors "loved the place" and found the shuttle convenient, others expressed a need for improvements before considering a return visit. It is recommended that local users weigh these positive and negative aspects and potentially contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information and to address any specific concerns before making a reservation.
