Dream Acres Camp Ground Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" option in the vicinity of Monon, Indiana, Dream Acres Camp Ground, located at 2746 IN-16, Monon, IN 47959, USA (phone: (219) 253-8224 or +1 219-253-8224), presents a location noted for its quiet atmosphere. However, potential visitors should be aware of some specific aspects highlighted in recent reviews, including the presence of numerous loose cats, a per-person per-day fee for swimming, and a cash-only payment policy that raised concerns for one reviewer.
Within the "camping near me" category, Dream Acres Camp Ground appears to offer a peaceful environment, as indicated by one reviewer who stated, "Love this place. Nice and quiet!" This suggests that for those prioritizing tranquility during their camping trip, Dream Acres could be an appealing option. The rural address in Monon, Indiana, further supports the likelihood of a quieter setting compared to campgrounds located in more urbanized areas.
However, one reviewer raised a notable concern regarding the environment, mentioning "too many loose cats around property" and stating that it "feels like you always have eyes watching you." For individuals who are not comfortable around cats, or who have allergies, this could be a significant drawback. The feeling of being constantly watched by the animals might also detract from the relaxation and privacy that campers typically seek.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide limited information. One significant point is the existence of a swimming facility, presumably a pool, but with a notable condition: "why would they make you pay to swim? Per person per day??" This pay-per-person, per-day fee for swimming is unusual for many campgrounds, where pool access is often included in the campsite fee. This additional cost could influence the overall value proposition for families or groups planning to swim regularly during their stay. It's important for potential visitors to factor this extra expense into their budget.
Another crucial service aspect mentioned is the payment policy: "Everything paid in cash!!" This cash-only requirement can be inconvenient for many travelers who prefer to use credit or debit cards. Furthermore, this policy raised a concern for one reviewer, who described it as "kinda fishy there....how much you profiting and not claiming!" This comment, while subjective, suggests a potential lack of transparency or adherence to standard business practices that might make some visitors uneasy. While a cash-only policy is not inherently problematic, the reviewer's suspicion is something for potential guests to consider.
The reviews do not provide information about other typical campground amenities such as bathroom facilities, fire pits, picnic tables, Wi-Fi, or hookups for RVs. The absence of such details makes it challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the services and features available at Dream Acres Camp Ground. Local users considering this "camping near me" option would need to inquire directly with the campground about the availability and condition of these standard amenities.
Given the limited positive feedback focusing primarily on the quiet atmosphere, promotional information for Dream Acres Camp Ground might emphasize its tranquil setting as an ideal escape for those seeking peace and quiet in nature near Monon, Indiana. However, any responsible promotion should also acknowledge the presence of loose cats on the property, as this is a notable environmental factor that could impact the experience for some visitors. Transparency regarding the per-person per-day fee for swimming and the cash-only payment policy is also essential to ensure that potential guests are fully informed before making a reservation.
Due to the lack of information about standard campground amenities and the concerns raised by one reviewer regarding the payment policy, it is difficult to formulate extensive promotional points. The quiet environment seems to be the primary positive attribute highlighted in the limited feedback. Therefore, marketing could focus on this aspect, appealing to campers who prioritize a serene and peaceful camping experience. However, the unique conditions regarding pets (loose cats), swimming fees, and payment methods should be clearly communicated to manage expectations.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Monon area, Dream Acres Camp Ground presents a choice with a seemingly quiet ambiance. However, the presence of numerous loose cats is a significant environmental factor to consider for those with allergies or discomfort around felines. The additional per-person per-day fee for swimming is an unusual service charge that will add to the overall cost. Finally, the cash-only payment policy might be inconvenient and raised a concern for at least one visitor. Without further information about other amenities and services, potential campers should weigh the value of a quiet setting against these potential drawbacks and consider contacting the campground directly for more details.
In conclusion, Dream Acres Camp Ground offers a potentially quiet "camping near me" experience in Monon, Indiana. However, local users should be aware of the significant presence of loose cats on the property, the additional per-person per-day fee for swimming, and the cash-only payment policy. The lack of information about other standard campground amenities necessitates direct inquiry with the campground. While the quiet atmosphere might appeal to some, the unique conditions and the concerns raised by one reviewer warrant careful consideration before choosing Dream Acres Camp Ground for your camping needs.

Apr 14, 2025 · Cheryl FeldaI took my two grandsons, ages 4 and 5 to this campground for the weekend. It proved to work well for the little guys. The playground was just what I needed to keep them occupied while I was setting up camp. There is a great catch and release fishing pond, loaded with pond moss, but it doesn't seem to affect the fish from biting.. We caught bluegill, catfish and bass all on nightcrawlers. The pool is beautiful and clean, and we really enjoyed that! The miniature golf course has seen its better days and I don't believe it was even open. Quiet, peaceful nights, respectful campers of all ages.. Firewood for sale on site was reasonably priced. The owners are very kind and courteous and will help you if you need help with anything. Wooded setting, only 3 miles back to town in case you forgot something. For a small family ran campground, these owners have it going on... We really enjoyed our stay, and we will return. I have been a seasonal camper at a different campground for a few years and decided to sell and buy something so I could go wherever I like. This was the first campground I tried out, on my own with my grandsons and it proved itself to be almost perfect! I am in the process of renovating a 1970 Shasta and they allowed me in. Some campgrounds frown on anything older than 20 years, so I had to submit pictures to show what I would be bringing. Reasonably priced, but the only thing I thought was wonky, was the check-n and check-out times. Check-in is at 4:00pm and Check-out is at 11:00. Early check-in is available for $10 more, but it only moves it to a 2:00 pm check-in. To me, 2 hours, is 2 hours and I paid the extra $10. I figured, if I waited until 4:00 pm, by the time I set up camp, it would be time for supper and then bedtime for the boys. The extra 2 hours helped me to be able to spend time with the boys. If staying, it proves to be beneficial to stay more than one night, unless it is just a need to stop basis.. Enjoy what they have to offer, Camping, Fishing, Swimming, Basketball, Playground, Pool Table, Clean showers/restrooms, full water, and electric hook-ups, or just a peaceful perfect weekend get-a-way!!
Jul 11, 2022 · Melanie WoodsHad a very nice experience here. When my husband and I arrived on our recumbent tricycles we were invited to sleep in the game room so we didn’t have to pitch our tent. Learned how to attract Orioles. Friendly atmosphere!
Jul 05, 2022 · Claire DonnellyWanted to stay just for one night at Dream Acres Camp Ground...It isn’t perfect but a dream of shady landscape. Therefore after the first evening with swimming in the very clean pool and sitting at the fire pit we decided spontaneously:Let’s extend for another night! We didn’t regret the wonderful day, friendly owner, „Klondike Oreo“ Ice cream and the whole day relaxing, quilting, dreaming into the fire and swimming. This is one of the campgrounds we’ll never forget...
