Jacks Fork Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking "camping near me" in the Eminence, Missouri area, Jacks Fork Campground, located at 19433 MO-106, Eminence, MO 65466, USA, offers a camping option with both primitive and electric campsites. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground presents a mixed experience with some positive aspects alongside areas for potential improvement. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the environment, services, features, and pricing based on the available feedback.
Location and Accessibility near Eminence, MO
Jacks Fork Campground is conveniently situated near Eminence, MO, making it potentially appealing for local users seeking a quick camping getaway. One reviewer noted its convenient proximity to town, which offers access to needed supplies. This accessibility can be a significant advantage for campers who may need to resupply or want to explore the local area. The campground's location on MO-106 also suggests relatively easy access by road.
Campsite Environment and Ground Conditions
One positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the sandy ground conditions of at least one campsite. A camper mentioned their site was on a "good sandy spot," allowing them to comfortably go barefoot. This could be a desirable feature for those who appreciate softer ground for their tents and overall comfort within their campsite.
Potential Noise and Light Issues
However, a significant drawback reported by a camper was the proximity of their campsite to a playground (Broken Arrow) that is not directly associated with the campground. This resulted in "traffic ALL night shining their headlights until around 2AM" for two consecutive nights. This level of disturbance could severely impact the camping experience, particularly for those seeking a peaceful night's sleep. It's important for potential campers to be aware of this potential noise and light pollution issue, especially if they are assigned a campsite near this adjacent playground.
Pricing Structure
The campground offers different pricing tiers based on the type of campsite. One reviewer mentioned paying $60 for two nights for three people and one dog. Another camper stated the prices as "$10 primitive and $20 with electric." This indicates that Jacks Fork Campground provides options for both basic, non-hookup camping and sites with electrical connections, catering to different needs and budgets. Campers should inquire about current pricing and any additional fees for extra people or pets.
Host Assistance and Check-In Experience
A positive note in one of the reviews was the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner upon arrival. A camper who arrived early mentioned that the "owner lady was very helpful and nice" in assisting them to find a good spot to camp. This suggests that the campground staff can be accommodating and provide a positive initial experience.
Facilities: Toilets and Showers
Feedback regarding the campground's facilities was less positive. One reviewer described the toilets as "eh okay" and the showers as "eh," indicating that they may not be the cleanest or most modern. This is an important consideration for campers who prioritize well-maintained restroom and shower facilities.
Ground Conditions Upon Entry
Another practical consideration mentioned by a reviewer was the "heavy deep gravel entering onto the property," which made it necessary for them to walk their bicycle. This suggests that the entrance to the campground might be challenging for those with bicycles or potentially for vehicles with lower clearance. Campers should be prepared for this type of terrain upon arrival.
Presence of Flying Bugs
One camper noted the presence of "lots of flying bugs." This is a common issue in outdoor environments, especially during certain times of the year. Campers planning to stay at Jacks Fork Campground should come prepared with insect repellent and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from bug bites.
Availability of Amenities
Based on the limited review information, we can infer some basic amenities are available:
- Primitive Campsites: Offering a basic camping experience without hookups.
- Electric Campsites: Providing electrical connections for RVs or campers needing power.
- Toilets and Showers: Although the quality was described as "eh okay," these basic facilities are present.
- Dumpster: A dumpster is located at the front of the property for waste disposal.
- Potentially Dog-Friendly: One review mentioned staying with a dog, suggesting that pets may be allowed, but it's crucial to confirm the campground's pet policy.
Further information regarding other potential amenities such as water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, or recreational areas is not available in the provided reviews. Interested campers should contact the campground directly for a comprehensive list of amenities.
Nearby Conveniences
The campground's proximity to the town of Eminence is a notable convenience. As mentioned by a reviewer, the town "serves a lot of needed supplies," which can be beneficial for campers who need to purchase groceries, camping gear, or other essentials. This accessibility to town distinguishes Jacks Fork Campground from more remote camping locations.

- Off-season rates: Lower prices during less popular camping periods.
- Weekly or extended stay discounts: Reduced rates for longer bookings.

Considerations for Local Users Seeking "Camping Near Me" at Jacks Fork Campground
For local users considering Jacks Fork Campground for their "camping near me" experience, it's important to weigh the positive aspects against the potential drawbacks highlighted in the reviews. The sandy campsite ground and the helpfulness of the owner are positives. The proximity to Eminence for supplies is also a significant convenience. However, potential issues with nighttime noise and light from the adjacent playground, the condition of the toilets and showers, and the gravel entrance should be taken into consideration.
Recommendation
Given the mixed feedback, local users interested in Jacks Fork Campground should consider contacting the campground directly to inquire about campsite locations relative to the adjacent playground to mitigate potential noise issues. It would also be wise to ask for more detailed information about the current condition of the toilet and shower facilities. Understanding their pet policy and any other available amenities will also help in making an informed decision. Jacks Fork Campground Reviews
Our campsite was on a good sandy spot, I ran barefoot the whole time we were in our camp! Downfall to our site was that there is a playground directly beside it not joined with the campground (Broken Arrow) and there was traffic ALL night shining their headlights until around 2AM. Next night same. Pd $60 for 2nights 3people and one dog.
Jun 17, 2024 · Jolene WellsI got there early and the owner lady was very helpful and nice, to get me a good spot to camp. $10 primitive and $20 with electric. After a tough day of hill climbing bicycling the TransAmerica Route76, this place was conveniently close to town that serves a lot of needed supplies before heading back to camp. Unfortunately I was caught by the rain later afternoon that lasted all night till the next day after 2pm or later. SMH Lots of flying bugs too. Toilets look eh okay and the showers are eh. Not the best. Heavy deep gravel entering onto the property. Had to walk the bike. Dumpster up front. Just bad timing from the rain.
Jul 28, 2024 · DroppinI have mixed feelings about this place. The staff seem to be trying to get something off the ground. It appears the place flooded and they are starting over. The plus side first: the people were nice and helpful. They came and picked us up for our float trip. The trip ended at camp so that was nice. The site was nice. The bad: there was trash piled up at the entrance, the showers didn't work. The bathrooms were nasty. They don't offer ice or anything. People who camp spend money. What a wasted opportunity to have a thriving business!I'd actually come over more time to see if they improved. I'd recommend making a building on stilts and sell some stuff! Get trash service or some dumpsters!
Sep 11, 2018 · Pat MyersGreat place to float and super nice staff mean this is a great place to go camp. One star off only because after previous flooding the campground facilities are not yet totally recovered, though everything else was so great it hardly mattered.
Oct 16, 2017 · Nathan ByrdLots of work being done & the campground is headed in the right direction. This last trip 7/24 had everything neatly mowed & buildings being repaired & repainted from past flood damage. Birdie, the camp ground host, was great to work with & helpful.Campsites are very friendly to RV or to more primitive camping with electric hookup available. Huge grassy campsites. Great spot to enjoy the Perseid meteor shower.Showers haven’t been updated yet, but were cleaner than past years. This is still our favorite campground in the Ozarks & the Maggards are easygoing kind people. Birdie is a great addition to the staff. Looking forward to returning.
