A little difficult to find it during the night (we passed it two times without seeing the entrance, even with a GPS). The first campsites are very close to the road, but there's not much traffic during the night so it's not a problem to have a good rest. Convenient fire rings and tables. In the morning we discovered it was more beautiful than we thought arriving at night. - Jessica Gerdel C.

This makes for a pleasant surprise for visitors waking up to the sights and sounds of the forest. The upper loop of the campground is particularly accommodating for equestrian enthusiasts, featuring hitching posts for horses, making it an ideal base for those looking to explore the Sierra National Forest on horseback.

As a free, first-come, first-served campground operated by the Forest Service, Jerseydale Campground offers a back-to-basics camping experience. The services and amenities provided are designed to support a natural, unembellished outdoor adventure. Each campsite is equipped with convenient fire rings and picnic tables, allowing campers to enjoy traditional campfire cooking and dining. While there are no showers, vault toilets are available for sanitation, and potable water is provided, though it's advised that campers boil it before use. The campground offers 10 sites in total, with a maximum vehicle length of 24 feet for camping trailers, making it suitable for both tent camping and smaller RVs. The sites are generally on a slope, with only a few accommodating tents on flatter ground.

A key feature of Jerseydale Campground is its strategic location within the Sierra National Forest, opening up a vast array of recreational opportunities. For equestrians, the Sierra National Forest provides extensive opportunities with five wilderness areas, numerous trails, and horse camps like Kelty Meadow and Texas Flat. Off-roading is also an option, with scenic drives like the 100-mile Sierra Vista Scenic Byway and various OHV trails. During winter, snow sports such as sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are possible on designated trails.

Promotional information for Jerseydale Campground often highlights its accessibility and the pure outdoor experience it offers. As a free, first-come, first-served site, it appeals to budget-conscious travelers and those who prefer spontaneous trips. Its recent reopening on November 13, 2024, after repair work and rejuvenation efforts, ensures it's ready for public enjoyment, having been closed for some time in the past (as noted in a review from 2017). This indicates ongoing efforts by the Forest Service to maintain and improve the camping experience. Visitors are reminded to pack out their trash and adhere to the maximum group size of six people per site, ensuring the preservation of this beautiful natural resource. The campground's quiet setting and the convenience of fire rings and tables are often praised by visitors seeking a peaceful retreat. While the entrance can be a little difficult to find at night, the reward of discovering its natural beauty in the morning makes it a worthwhile destination for adventurers looking to explore the vast wilderness of the Sierra National Forest. For more information on current conditions and any potential closures or restrictions, it is always advisable to check with the Bass Lake Ranger District or the Sierra National Forest official website.
