Juniper Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" that offers a blend of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and a peaceful environment? Juniper Campground, located on Meadow Creek Rd in Ririe, ID 83443, USA, presents itself as a potentially excellent choice. Situated with a reservoir on one side and open fields on the other, this campground boasts a unique setting that appeals to nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Based on the available customer reviews, Juniper Campground offers well-maintained sites, access to water activities, and stunning stargazing opportunities. However, it's also important to be aware of some potential drawbacks mentioned by recent visitors.
When considering "camping near me," the physical environment of the campground plays a crucial role in the overall experience. One reviewer had a "great experience" at Juniper Campground, highlighting several positive aspects of its environment. The campground is described as "well maintained with open grassy areas and plenty of shade trees." This combination offers a comfortable camping experience, with sunny spots for relaxation and shaded areas to escape the heat of the day. The presence of mature trees also contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the campground and can provide a sense of privacy between sites.
The spaciousness of the campsites is another notable feature mentioned in the positive review. The reviewer noted that "the sites are well spaced," which is a significant advantage for campers seeking privacy and room to set up their equipment comfortably. Adequate spacing between sites enhances the feeling of being in nature and reduces the sense of being crowded, contributing to a more relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The tranquility of Juniper Campground is also highlighted, with the reviewer stating that "it was quiet." A peaceful camping environment is often a top priority for those looking to escape the noise of urban life and immerse themselves in the sounds of nature. The location, bordered by a reservoir and fields, likely contributes to this sense of quietude and serenity.
One of the most remarkable features of Juniper Campground, stemming from its unique location, is the opportunity for spectacular stargazing. The reviewer noted that "with the reservoir on one side and fields on the other, there is very little light pollution so the stars at night were spectacular!" This lack of artificial light creates an ideal environment for observing the night sky, making it a potentially fantastic destination for astronomy enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates the beauty of a star-filled sky.
For those interested in water activities, Juniper Campground offers "good access to the reservoir" for kayaks. This suggests that the campground is well-suited for individuals and families who enjoy paddling, fishing, or simply being near the water. The reservoir likely provides opportunities for various water-based recreation, enhancing the appeal of the campground for outdoor adventurers.
However, it is crucial to consider the less positive experience reported by another recent guest. Their review highlighted a "poor customer experience during arrival" without providing specific details. This suggests that there might be inconsistencies in the arrival process or the initial interaction with campground staff. Potential visitors may want to inquire about check-in procedures and what to expect upon arrival when making a reservation.
A significant concern raised in the second review involves the campground's sprinkler system. The reviewer reported waking up at 5:30 AM to water hitting their camper, indicating that the sprinklers operate early in the morning and can potentially affect campsites. They noted that while the sprinkler heads are close to the pavement, a breeze could carry the water and wet belongings. This is a practical consideration for campers, who may need to position their tents or RVs carefully to avoid being sprayed and be mindful of leaving items outside overnight.
The placement of the sprinklers was also questioned, with the reviewer pointing out that they seemed to be positioned such that the picnic tables would get wet every day. This could make the picnic tables unusable for extended periods in the mornings and might be an inconvenience for campers who rely on them for meals and outdoor activities. It would be wise for potential visitors to inquire about the sprinkler schedule and the layout of the campsites in relation to the sprinklers.
Another significant issue raised in the second review is the apparent lack of trash cans throughout the campground. The reviewer explicitly stated, "No trash cans anywhere!" This is a serious concern for campground cleanliness and responsible waste management. Campers would need to be prepared to pack out all of their trash, which requires bringing appropriate bags and ensuring proper disposal off-site. This lack of trash receptacles could also contribute to a less aesthetically pleasing environment if visitors are not diligent about managing their waste.
On a more positive note, the second reviewer did mention that "bathrooms were clean." This is an essential amenity for any campground, and knowing that the restrooms are maintained to a satisfactory level of cleanliness is reassuring for potential visitors.
Given these contrasting experiences, it is advisable for those considering Juniper Campground to contact them directly at (208) 538-5126 or +1 208-538-5126 to gather more comprehensive information. When you call, you should inquire about:
- Check-in procedures and what to expect upon arrival.
- The operating schedule and range of the sprinkler system and its potential impact on campsites.
- The campground's policy and procedures for trash disposal. Are there designated areas for trash, or are campers required to pack everything out?
- The specific amenities offered at each campsite (e.g., picnic table location relative to sprinklers, fire pits).
- Any specific regulations or recommendations regarding kayaking or other water activities on the reservoir.
- Potential promotional offers or discounts for longer stays.
Ririe, Idaho, is located in a scenic region with access to various outdoor attractions beyond the reservoir. Juniper Campground's proximity to the water and open fields suggests opportunities for wildlife viewing and enjoying the natural landscape. However, potential visitors should be prepared for the possibility of early morning sprinkler activity and the need to manage their own trash.
In conclusion, Juniper Campground offers a compelling combination of a well-maintained environment with grassy areas and shade, spacious campsites, a quiet atmosphere, spectacular stargazing opportunities, and good access to the reservoir for kayaking. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with the arrival experience, the early morning operation of sprinklers potentially wetting campsites and picnic tables, and the apparent lack of trash cans. By contacting the campground directly for more information and being prepared for these potential drawbacks, you can make an informed decision about whether Juniper Campground is the right "camping near me" for your next outdoor adventure in the Ririe, Idaho area.

Juniper Campground Reviews
We had a great experience here! The campground is well maintained with open grassy areas and plenty of shade trees. The sites are well spaced. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. With the reservoir on one side and fields on the other, there is very little light pollution so the stars at night were spectacular! Good access to the reservoir for our kayaks, too.
Aug 29, 2024 · Jan CPoor customer experience during arrival! Be aware of sprinklers. I woke up at 5:30 with water hitting the side of the camper. The heads are close to the pavement but with a breeze it was getting everything wet. Also, why would you place them so that everyday the picnic table is wet? No trash cans anywhere! Bathrooms were clean.
Sep 09, 2024 · Sam CWe accidently parked in the wrong spot but the camp host was sweet and let us stay put since it wasn't busy. Clean restrooms, plenty of space between campers. Quiet
Oct 14, 2024 · Holly McfaddenAfter reading all of the recent negative reviews about the camp host, we were a bit concerned. However, upon our arrival we were greeted by this gentleman, Bob. He was courteous and extremely helpful. He indicated that we had selected a site that would be watered later this evening. He added that there were several FCFS sites that we could choose from instead that were on a different watering schedule if we would like. He even offered to drive me through the CG to show me the possibilities (which I gladly took him up on). We ended up moving to another FCFS site and he seamlessly transferred our reservation for us. And as far as watering is concerned, one look at this CG and you'll understand. Everything is green and immaculate. Even the rest rooms were the cleanest we've ever encountered. We loved this CG and will be back when passing through. Nice job and thank you Bob.
Aug 16, 2024 · William DunphyThis is a beautiful campground and the spots are spacious! BUT it’s getting a big hit in the star rating because the sprinklers run daily in the early evening hours - prime time to be outdoors enjoying your camp spot. Every evening at 7 pm, the sprinklers on the door side of my RV were on for an hour. Then at 8 pm the sprinklers on the other side of my rv were going for an hour. The camp fire ring is right between the two sprinkler zones, so 2 hours of sprinklers going during the best part of the day (IMO). (See pic of fire ring; taken from inside my RV). Needless to say, we were not able to enjoy the usual evening outdoor camp activities such as cooking dinner or having a campfire. Forget coming or going either or else you’ll need to dodge the sprinklers too! (See pic) When asking the host about this, we were told that it’s the best time to water. I’m really not sure why watering between midnight and 8 am isn’t the best time. It would still be good for the grass AND it’s good for the customers. Best of both worlds. Clearly the campers at a camp ground are not the priority. The grass is.
