Eagle Park & Campground Introduce
For local users in the Rexburg, Idaho area seeking information about "camping near me" and recreational opportunities, Eagle Park & Campground, located at 4 Eagle Pk Dr, Rexburg, ID 83440, USA, presents a mixed picture based on recent feedback. You can contact them at (208) 359-3020 or +1 208-359-3020 for the most current updates.
Eagle Park & Campground is situated near Rexburg, Idaho, a location that generally offers access to the scenic landscapes of eastern Idaho. According to one reviewer, the park once boasted significant natural beauty. However, recent events, possibly a flood, have reportedly caused substantial damage, leaving the area in a state that one visitor described as "pretty unusable" for camping at the time of their review. This suggests that the natural environment of the campground has been negatively impacted, with mentions of downed trees and limbs.
Despite this apparent setback, another reviewer paints a more comprehensive picture of the park's potential and existing features. They highlight that behind what seems like a simple park, there is a surprising array of amenities and environmental diversity. The park includes a grassy area, a pavilion with benches, and access to a river. This river appears to be a central element of the park's environment, with areas deep enough for swimming and shallow sections suitable for some "fun off-roading," even mentioning a Honda Civic being driven into a shallow part. This suggests varied riverine environments within the park.
The presence of mountain bike trails and walking trails indicates a landscape that accommodates these activities, likely with varied terrain and natural scenery. The inclusion of a frisbee golf course further adds to the recreational diversity of the park's environment. The mention of people riding razors and ATVs suggests that certain areas or trails within or around the park may be open to off-highway vehicle use.
The park is also noted as being dog-friendly, with reviewers mentioning bringing their dogs multiple times and frequently seeing other dogs, indicating open spaces where pets are welcome. This suggests a community aspect for dog owners seeking outdoor recreation.
The road accessing the campsites is described as "very accessible to all vehicles," implying relatively easy entry to the campground area, at least under normal conditions. However, this observation predates the review detailing flood damage, so current accessibility might be affected.
In summary, the environment of Eagle Park & Campground seems to be multifaceted, offering a river with varying depths, grassy areas, and trails. However, potential visitors must be aware of recent reports of significant damage that may currently limit its usability, particularly for camping. Ongoing efforts to clear downed trees suggest a recovery process is underway, but the extent and timeline of this recovery are not detailed.
Based on the customer reviews, the services and amenities at Eagle Park & Campground appear to include:
- Campgrounds: Designated areas for camping are present, although their current condition and usability are questionable due to reported flood damage.
- Park Area: A traditional park area with nice grass and a pavilion with benches is available, suggesting a space for picnicking and general outdoor enjoyment.
- Mountain Bike Trails: Trails specifically for mountain biking exist within the park. Their condition post-damage is unknown.
- Frisbee Golf Course: A frisbee golf course offers a unique recreational activity. Its current state is not mentioned.
- Fishing (Implied): One reviewer mentions "fishing (I think)," suggesting the possibility of fishing opportunities, likely in the river. Confirmation of fishing regulations and access points would be needed.
- Walking Trails: Trails suitable for walking are available, offering opportunities for leisurely exploration of the park. Their condition is also not specified post-damage.
- River Access: The park provides access to a river with areas suitable for swimming and shallow areas where even a car could be driven (with caution). The safety and current conditions of these river access points would need to be assessed.
- Dog-Friendly Environment: The park is welcoming to dogs. Specific rules regarding leashes or off-leash areas are not mentioned.
- Accessible Road to Campsites: The road leading to the campsites was reported to be accessible to all vehicles, but current conditions should be verified.
Amenities typically found at campgrounds, such as restrooms, water sources, fire pits, and picnic tables, are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews. Their availability at Eagle Park & Campground is therefore not confirmed and would require further investigation or direct inquiry with the park authorities.
Eagle Park & Campground, under normal conditions, appears to offer a range of features and highlights that would appeal to various local users:
- Multi-Recreational Area: The combination of camping, biking trails, frisbee golf, potential fishing, walking trails, and river access provides a diverse range of activities in one location.
- River with Varied Uses: The river offers opportunities for both swimming in deeper areas and shallow water play, even allowing for cautious vehicle interaction in some spots.
- Dog-Friendly: The welcoming attitude towards dogs makes it a great place for pet owners to enjoy the outdoors.
- Accessibility: The road to the campsites was reported to be easily accessible.
- Community Use: The presence of a pavilion and the frequent sighting of other park users, including dog owners and ATV riders, suggests it's a popular local gathering spot.
However, the current significant damage reported by one reviewer casts a shadow over these potential highlights. The most crucial factor for local users now is the extent of the damage and the progress of any recovery efforts. The fact that some clearing of downed trees was observed offers a glimmer of hope that the park is being worked on.
There is no promotional information available in the provided text. Local users should not expect any special offers or discounts based solely on this information. The focus should be on the current usability of the park.
Based on the conflicting reviews, local users considering Eagle Park & Campground should be prepared for uncertainty. One reviewer strongly advises against visiting or camping due to significant damage, possibly from flooding, rendering the area "pretty unusable." This suggests that at the time of their review, the environment was severely compromised, with downed trees and limbs posing potential hazards and limiting access or enjoyment.
Conversely, the other review, while not explicitly dated relative to the negative one, describes a park with diverse recreational opportunities and a welcoming atmosphere. This suggests that the park has the potential to be a valuable local resource.
The mention of ongoing work to clear debris offers a sign that recovery efforts are underway. However, the extent and timeline of this recovery are unknown. Local users planning to visit, especially for camping, should contact the park authorities at the provided phone numbers to get the most up-to-date information on the park's condition, accessibility, and the status of any repairs or cleanup efforts. It would be wise to inquire specifically about the camping areas and whether they are currently open and safe for use.
In conclusion, Eagle Park & Campground near Rexburg appears to be a local recreation area with a variety of appealing features, including camping, trails, a frisbee golf course, and river access. It is also noted as being dog-friendly. However, recent reports of significant damage, possibly due to flooding, indicate that the park's usability, particularly for camping, may be severely limited at present. While recovery efforts seem to be in progress, local users should seek current information from park authorities before planning a visit to understand the current conditions and whether the park is suitable for their intended activities. The potential of the park is evident from one review, but the reality of its current state, as described in the other, necessitates caution and prior inquiry.

Eagle Park & Campground Reviews
I'm sure that this location used to be absolutely beautiful... And it's so very sad the state that it's in now. It almost looks as though it was flooded out and that created a huge amount of damage to the area. It's pretty unusable. There was some evidence that there is possibly some work being done to cut and clear the downed trees and limbs... I'm hoping that's the case. If you are traveling through the area currently though, it's not worth stopping at, definitely not a place to camp at currently.
Nov 10, 2024 · TJ HansenI am surprised at how much is fit behind the expectation of this little park! It seems simple but there is the obvious park area that has nice grass and a pavilion with benches, and then there are camp grounds, mountain bike trails, a frisbee golf course, fishing (I think), as well as walking trails and I've seen people riding razors and atvs around! Some areas through the river are deep enough for swimming and other areas are shallow enough for some fun off-roading!We have brought our dog here multiple times and he loves it. There are often a handful of dogs that we see when we go.The road that goes along the camp sites is very accessible to all vehicles. We even took our Honda civic into the river in a shallow area for fun, but nothing crazy! Haha
Oct 20, 2022 · sammi estradaGreat place to hang out with friends. I have been to quite a few non fires here and always had a great time. There seems to always be enough fire pits so not a lot of prior planning needs to go into it. More parking would be nice but it is enough most of the time.
May 13, 2022 · Nikolas SteeleWe came during the week, and about 80% of the campsites were open. Most of the sites have a picnic table, a garbage can, and a water pump. Even though it's a pretty trafficked area, the campsites themselves feel secluded. The creek nearby is pretty green, so it's not great to walk in, but the area itself is beautiful and pretty close to town. Plus, we found a friend!
Jul 20, 2021 · Natalie BeairdGreat place to spend a day or a week . It's camping without the drive. It's a great place to take your dogs for a run, fish the south fork river, mtn bike trails, and track.
