Warm Slough Campsite

Unnamed Road, 83440, Rexburg, ID 83440, USA

4.0
Really nice campground with decently spaced out campsites. Beautiful spot right along the river. During the day lots of cars come and go as people float the river but it’s pretty quiet at night. The only downside is that the bathroom is absolutely horrendous! Bags of poop cover the floor and it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. - Angie Coleman

Warm Slough Campsite Introduce

For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines the beauty of riverside camping with unique opportunities for water recreation, Warm Slough Campsite, located on an Unnamed Road in Rexburg, ID 83440, USA, offers an appealing option. Situated directly along the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, this campsite provides a picturesque setting and a gateway to enjoying the slough's gentle waters. However, it's essential to be aware of all aspects of this location, including both its highlights and potential drawbacks, based on recent visitor feedback.

The environment of Warm Slough Campsite is a significant draw, with reviewers consistently praising its beautiful location "right along the river." The campsites are reportedly "decently spaced out," offering a degree of privacy and room to enjoy your surroundings. The proximity to the Henry's Fork of the Snake River creates a natural and scenic ambiance, perfect for those who appreciate the sights and sounds of flowing water. One reviewer aptly described it as a "hidden gem," suggesting a location that offers a sense of discovery and tranquility.

A unique feature of Warm Slough Campsite is its direct access to the river, specifically a section known as "Warm Slough." The winding path of the river in this area creates an ideal loop for floating. As one visitor enthusiastically explained, "Because of the winding path of the river, it gives you a perfect float around the peninsula then you can get out and walk a quarter of a mile down the road and do it again." This natural lazy river setup allows for repeated enjoyment of a leisurely float without the need for long shuttles. The float itself takes approximately an hour, making it a manageable and enjoyable activity for a wide range of ages.

The river conditions in Warm Slough are also highlighted as being family-friendly. The water is reportedly "shallow enough for kids to stand up in many places," providing a sense of safety and allowing even young children to participate in water activities. Furthermore, the "slow flow of the river allows you to enjoy the beauty of the river as you float, paddle, or swim the slough." This gentle current makes it suitable for various watercraft, including tubes, kayaks, and paddleboards, as well as for simply swimming and relaxing in the water. The reviewer even suggests bringing "whatever" floats your boat, emphasizing the versatility of this aquatic playground.

While the daytime environment is described as active with "lots of cars come and go as people float the river," the campsite reportedly becomes "pretty quiet at night," suggesting a peaceful atmosphere for sleeping and enjoying the nighttime sounds of nature after the day's recreational activities conclude.

However, a significant drawback mentioned in one of the reviews is the condition of the bathroom facilities. The reviewer described the bathroom as "absolutely horrendous!" with alarming details: "Bags of poop cover the floor and it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months." This is a serious concern and a crucial piece of information for potential campers. The state of the restrooms can significantly impact the overall camping experience, and this review paints a concerning picture of the hygiene at Warm Slough Campsite.

In terms of services and features beyond the river access and campsites themselves, the provided reviews offer limited information. The presence of spaced-out campsites is a positive feature, offering some level of privacy. The mention of daytime activity related to river floating suggests that the campsite caters to individuals and groups engaging in this popular local activity. However, details about other potential amenities such as fire pits, picnic tables, water sources, or trash disposal are not provided. Given the strong negative feedback about the bathroom, it would be prudent to inquire about the availability and condition of other facilities before making a reservation.

Promotional information is somewhat implicit in the enthusiastic description of the floating experience. The phrase "hidden gem" suggests that this location offers a unique and perhaps less well-known opportunity for enjoying the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. The detailed explanation of the convenient float loop and the family-friendly shallow waters serves as a strong promotion for water-based recreation at Warm Slough. The reviewer also playfully suggests that it's "probably best to try during the warm months ;)," which is a common-sense tip for enjoying river activities and camping in Idaho.

For local users considering "camping near me" at Warm Slough Campsite, the primary draw is undoubtedly the access to the Henry's Fork of the Snake River and the unique floating opportunity it provides. The beautiful riverside setting and the potential for a quiet night are also appealing. However, the severely negative report regarding the bathroom facilities is a significant factor that should not be overlooked. Potential campers should weigh the allure of the river and the campsite's location against the reported lack of cleanliness in the restrooms.

Before planning a trip to Warm Slough Campsite, it would be wise to seek more recent information about the condition of the facilities. This could involve checking other online reviews (if available), contacting local camping forums or social media groups, or potentially reaching out to local authorities or parks and recreation departments to inquire about the maintenance of the campsite. Understanding the current state of the bathrooms is crucial for making an informed decision about whether this location meets your camping needs and expectations.

In conclusion, Warm Slough Campsite offers a potentially delightful "camping near me" experience for those who value riverside locations and enjoy water activities like floating, tubing, kayaking, and swimming in the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. The convenient natural loop for floating and the shallow, slow-moving water make it particularly appealing for families. However, the strongly negative review concerning the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities is a serious concern that prospective campers must consider and investigate further before choosing this site. The beautiful environment and recreational opportunities may be compelling, but the state of the amenities is a critical factor in overall camping satisfaction.
