Kit Price Introduce
For local users in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho region searching for "camping near me," Kit Price Campground, located at Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815, USA, presents a camping option with both current challenges and future promise. Reachable by phone at (208) 664-2318 or mobile at +1 208-664-2318, this campground has a history of being a potentially enjoyable destination. However, recent events, specifically a logging operation to clear unsafe trees, have significantly impacted its current state, as detailed in customer reviews. To provide an objective introduction for local campers, it's crucial to consider both the positive historical aspects and the current conditions.
One review from June 12, 2020, paints a concerning picture of the campground's environment following the logging operation. The reviewer notes that the logging has left the area in a "terrible state" for that year. Specifically, their campsite (A12) had ruts that made it impossible to pitch a tent on the ground, forcing them to use the asphalt parking area. This suggests that the environment in some areas of the campground may be significantly disturbed, potentially affecting the usability and appeal of certain campsites. Furthermore, the review mentions a lack of shade due to the logging, which could make summer camping uncomfortable for RV users until regrowth occurs. The presence of piled wood at most sites, while potentially a source of firewood, is noted to be in rounds too thick to burn without splitting tools, adding an extra step for campers intending to have fires.
Conversely, another review, without a specific date, offers a much more positive perspective, describing Kit Price Campground as possibly "the most enjoyable campground" the reviewer and their wife had ever experienced. This review highlights "abundant trees" at their site and a "comfortable distance" between campsites, suggesting that some parts of the campground may have retained their natural appeal or that conditions have varied over time or across different sites. A significant positive feature mentioned is the short stroll to a river that is calm enough for relaxation and enjoying the scenery. The friendly and helpful nature of the host family is also commended in both reviews, indicating a potentially positive service aspect despite the environmental challenges.
Considering the services at Kit Price Campground, the information is somewhat limited. Typically, campgrounds offer basic amenities such as restrooms, water sources, and waste disposal. The future plans mentioned in the negative review indicate that the Forest Service is considering installing new restrooms, along with new tables, fire rings, and paved parking spurs, and making all sites accessible. This suggests that the existing restroom facilities might be in need of upgrade or that accessibility is currently limited. The presence of fire rings is mentioned in both reviews, implying that campfires are permitted, although, as noted, the provided wood may require processing. The friendly hosts mentioned in the reviews could also be considered a service, providing assistance and maintaining the campground to the best of their ability under the current circumstances.
The features of Kit Price Campground appear to include its location near a river, offering opportunities for relaxation and enjoying the water. The historical presence of abundant trees at some sites provided shade and a pleasant environment. The future plans for paved parking spurs suggest that RV camping is accommodated. The potential for firewood from the logging debris, albeit requiring processing, could also be considered a feature for those prepared. However, the current lack of shade in some areas and the uneven terrain at certain campsites, as a result of the logging, are significant drawbacks in the short term.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Kit Price Campground in the provided text. However, the future plans for significant upgrades could be seen as a long-term promotion, suggesting that the campground will eventually offer improved facilities and accessibility. For local users looking for "camping near me," the potential closure in the future (possibly 2021, according to the 2020 review) for these renovations is an important factor to consider. It might mean that the campground's availability in the near term could be limited or that the current conditions will persist until these improvements are made. It would be advisable for interested local campers to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current status of operations, site conditions, and the timeline for any planned renovations.
In conclusion, Kit Price Campground near Coeur d'Alene, ID, presents a mixed picture for local users seeking "camping near me." While it has historically been an enjoyable location with river access and friendly hosts, recent logging activities have negatively impacted the environment, particularly regarding site levelness and shade. The future plans for significant upgrades by the Forest Service offer hope for improved facilities and accessibility, but the timeline for these improvements is uncertain based on the provided information. Local campers should weigh the potential appeal of the river access and the possibility of interacting with friendly hosts against the current environmental challenges. Contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on site conditions and renovation plans is highly recommended before making a decision to camp at Kit Price Campground.

Kit Price Reviews
6/12/2020 Kit Price had been closed for the prior 2 years to clear unsafe trees. The logging operation has left it in a terrible state this year. In our site (A12) we were unable to find ground even enough to pitch a tent due to ruts left from the logging. We ended up pitching it on the asphalt parking area. There are only a couple sites remaining with any shade available so the summer RV campers will suffer from the heat for many years to come until regrowth occurs. Now the good news. It is said that the Forest Service is planning to close the campground in the future, perhaps 2021, to install new tables, fire rings, paved parking spurs and restrooms. All sites will be made accessible. There's a lot of wood piled at most sites from the logging but the fire ring length rounds are too thick to burn as is so bring a splitting maul and wedge to take advantage of it.The hosts have been there in years past and are very nice and congenial while doing their best to deal with the mess that was left for them to deal with this year.
Jun 26, 2020 · Allen TodalenIt just might be the most enjoyable campground my wife and I have ever experienced. Our site had abundant trees, and there was a comfortable distance between us and neighbor campers. The river was a short stroll away, and it's calm enough to plop down chairs, cool off your feet, and savor the scenery. The host family was very friendly and helpful, too.
Oct 08, 2017 · Ryan ArnoldBeen going here for years fantastic place to swim, hike, or fish. Large sites that are well maintained. Several have private beaches attached to them.
May 16, 2017 · kevinpocIf I could give zero stars I would! This place has been destroyed by the Forest Service, Camp Reserve America and the local contractor. BEWARE THERE ARE NO TENT SITES NOW AND THE SAME CONTRACTOR IS DOING BIG HANK AS WELL.
Sep 26, 2020 · Andrew BaucomDO NOT TURN OFF MAIN ROAD IF YOU GOOGLE DIRECTIONS. Otherwise was a good campsite. Clean, nice hosts, short walk to river access from any site.
