Kittatinny Valley Campsite Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience in the Newton, New Jersey area, Kittatinny Valley Campsite, located at Newton, NJ 07860, USA, presents a natural setting with some notable features highlighted by recent visitors. You can reach them for inquiries at (973) 786-6445 or +1 973-786-6445. Based on recent feedback, this campground offers spacious campsites and a generally beautiful natural environment, though potential campers should be aware of some considerations regarding insects and firewood.
The environment of Kittatinny Valley Campsite is described by one reviewer as offering "lots of nature," suggesting a setting that appeals to those who appreciate the outdoors and the natural beauty of the Kittatinny Valley region. This part of New Jersey is known for its scenic landscapes, including rolling hills, forests, and proximity to the Delaware Water Gap and other natural attractions. Campers can likely expect to be surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature, potentially offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and enjoying a peaceful outdoor atmosphere. The spaciousness of the campsites, noted by one visitor as the campground's primary advantage, suggests that campers will have ample room to set up their tents or RVs and enjoy their personal space within the campground.
In terms of services and features, feedback from visitors provides some insights. One positive aspect highlighted is the helpfulness of the staff, which can significantly enhance the overall camping experience by providing assistance and information to guests. Additionally, it is reported that all sites appeared to have large, functional barbecues and fire pits. These are valuable amenities for campers who enjoy cooking outdoors and having a designated area for campfires, which are often a central part of the camping experience, providing warmth and a gathering place during the evenings. The presence of these features suggests that Kittatinny Valley Campsite aims to cater to campers who enjoy traditional outdoor cooking and campfires.
Another notable feature mentioned in the reviews is that the campground is dog-friendly and offers "humming trails." The dog-friendly policy is a significant draw for campers who like to travel with their pets, allowing them to enjoy the natural surroundings with their canine companions. The mention of "humming trails" is intriguing but lacks specific details. It could imply trails that are particularly pleasant or scenic, perhaps with a lot of bird activity, including hummingbirds. This suggests that the campground may offer opportunities for leisurely walks and nature observation within its vicinity.
However, it is crucial for prospective campers to be aware of a significant concern raised by one reviewer regarding an overwhelming presence of mosquitoes. This visitor described the mosquito situation as "unreal," stating that no amount of candles and sprays provided relief and that they would definitely not be returning due to this issue. This suggests that during certain times of the year, or under specific weather conditions, mosquitoes could be a significant nuisance at Kittatinny Valley Campsite. Campers planning a visit should be prepared with strong insect repellent and consider other protective measures.
Another practical consideration mentioned by a reviewer is the lack of firewood available in the immediate area. This means that campers will need to bring their own firewood or purchase it elsewhere before arriving at the campground. This is an important piece of information for those planning to use the provided fire pits for cooking or campfires, as it requires an extra step in preparation for the camping trip.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the available reviews. Local users interested in any potential discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or special packages should contact Kittatinny Valley Campsite directly using the provided phone numbers. It would also be beneficial to inquire about the best times to visit to avoid peak mosquito season, if possible, and to confirm the current policies regarding firewood (whether it can be purchased on-site now or if campers still need to bring their own).
To summarize, Kittatinny Valley Campsite in Newton, NJ, offers spacious campsites in a natural environment that is appreciated for its beauty. The campground is dog-friendly and appears to provide helpful staff, as well as functional barbecues and fire pits at each site. The presence of "humming trails" suggests opportunities for nature walks. However, potential campers should be prepared for a potentially significant mosquito problem, as highlighted by one reviewer, and should also plan to bring their own firewood as it may not be readily available in the area. Despite these drawbacks, the spaciousness of the sites and the natural setting may still appeal to many local users seeking a "camping near me" experience in the Kittatinny Valley.
Before making a reservation, it would be prudent for local users to call Kittatinny Valley Campsite directly to inquire about the current conditions regarding mosquitoes, firewood availability, and any other concerns they may have. Additionally, asking about any specific amenities or services not mentioned in the reviews, such as restroom facilities, water sources, or other recreational features, would be beneficial in making an informed decision about whether this campground meets their needs for a local camping getaway.

Very spacious campsites. Thats the only thing they have going for them. Tons of mosquitoes, it was unreal. No amount of candles and sprays helped. There's also no firewood in area. Have to bring or buy your own wood... Definitely not coming back
