Korbel North Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Columbus, Ohio, Korbel North Campground, located at Columbus, OH 43211, USA, presents itself as a potential option. They can be reached at (614) 294-9336 or +1 614-294-9336. Based on the limited online reviews, the experiences at this campground appear to be somewhat varied, particularly in relation to local events.
One reviewer mentioned, "Sonic Temple was a blast. Can't wait for next year." This suggests that Korbel North Campground may be a convenient lodging option for attendees of large events held in the Columbus area, such as the Sonic Temple music festival. This could be a significant feature for local users who frequently attend such events and seek nearby camping accommodations. The proximity to event venues could be a key advantage for this campground, positioning it as a go-to "camping near me" choice for event-goers.
However, another review presents a starkly different experience, highlighting a significant issue related to reservations and event-specific policies. The reviewer stated they "Went there with the understanding that there are no reservations needed as the website says." They had driven from Youngstown towing a camper only to be "turned away" and told that reservations were needed for an event that was "never stated on the site!" This resulted in an unexpected cost of $175 for a hotel room, leading to considerable disappointment. This experience underscores the importance of clear and accurate communication regarding reservation policies, especially during special events.
The reviewer further quoted information directly from the campground's website: "Camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are NOT accepted, or needed. The campgrounds will NOT fill for your event (except during the Quarter Horse Congress in October)." This discrepancy between the stated policy on the website and the actual requirement for reservations during the Sonic Temple event is a critical point for local users considering Korbel North Campground as a "camping near me" option, especially if their stay coincides with a major event.
This incident suggests that while the campground may generally operate on a first-come, first-served basis, exceptions may be made during large local events, and these exceptions may not be clearly communicated on their website. For local users planning to camp at Korbel North Campground, it would be prudent to call ahead and inquire specifically about any reservation requirements, particularly if their visit aligns with a known event in the Columbus area. This proactive step could prevent the disappointment and unexpected expenses experienced by the reviewer.
Beyond the experiences related to events, the limited reviews do not provide much detail about the general environment, services, and features of Korbel North Campground. Typically, when exploring "camping near me," local users look for information such as the types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV hookups), the amenities offered (e.g., restrooms, showers, fire pits, picnic tables, water access, electrical hookups), and the overall natural setting of the campground. Information about the surrounding area, such as nearby attractions, recreational opportunities, and essential services, is also usually relevant.
Given the lack of detailed information in the provided reviews about these aspects, it is challenging to offer a comprehensive introduction to the environment, services, and features of Korbel North Campground. The positive mention of the Sonic Temple event suggests that the campground is located in a potentially convenient area for accessing events in Columbus. However, the negative experience related to unexpected reservation requirements raises concerns about the reliability of the information provided by the campground and the consistency of their policies.
For local users considering Korbel North Campground as a "camping near me" option, it would be beneficial to seek additional reviews from various sources to get a broader perspective on the typical camping experience. It would also be advisable to contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about their facilities, services, and any specific policies, especially concerning reservations during local events. Understanding the general layout of the campground, the types of amenities available, and the surrounding environment would help potential campers determine if Korbel North Campground meets their needs.
In conclusion, Korbel North Campground in Columbus, Ohio, appears to be a campground that may cater to attendees of local events. While one reviewer had a positive experience related to the Sonic Temple festival, another encountered significant issues due to a discrepancy between the campground's stated no-reservation policy and an unadvertised reservation requirement during an event. For local users exploring "camping near me" and considering Korbel North Campground, it is crucial to be aware of the potential for event-related reservation policies and to verify these policies directly with the campground, especially if planning a stay during a major event in Columbus. Further information about the campground's general environment, services, and features would be beneficial in making a well-informed decision.

May 30, 2023 · Diesel DarrylWent there with the understanding that there are no reservations needed as the website says. Drove from Youngstown towing camper to get turned away. Told needed reservations for the event that was never stated on the site! Cost 175 dollars for a dump hotel room. Would have made other plans if we knew! Very disappointed! Should have posted reservations need for the event that was going on! Camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are NOT accepted, or needed. The campgrounds will NOT fill for your event (except during the Quarter Horse Congress in October). Directly from there site!

May 22, 2024 · Jesseca CookThis campground is by far the worst we have ever stayed in. It is not well kept (Trash, overgrown) and there is a lack of security, that is needed. People were wandering around all hours of the night, some screaming. You will also be required to pay 1280 + a 3% credit card fee when they come by on Thursday, even if you only stay a night. Also to check out you have to hunt down this trailer they are located in to get your money back. They don't answer either so we spent a solid 30 minutes trying to find the place to check out. There is also a train yard right next to it and you will hear trains, cars and airplanes all hours. The only good thing about this is the location in relation to the city, although it is not in a great area of town.
Sep 25, 2022 · BrandyWe loved the simplicity of staying at this site...no reservations, plenty of available sites, great location to all the things near Ohio State and Columbus, friendly guy taking your money, and lots of running-around-freedom for our dog. However, the website says the site fee is $35 or so a night, but it actually costs $50, and you wouldn't know that unless you happened to catch the updated price on the sign when entering (it's kind of small and we were busy figuring out where to go to notice). They claim full hookup with 50 amp which we need for our 45' Class A motorhome, but the 50 amp wasn't working right throughout the campground (of course we didn't know this before hooking up--we do have a surge protector), and this caused our motorhome lots of issues--as in we had to stay up all night on Saturday trying to figure things out (causing my husband to miss his seminar we came here for because as of Sunday morning, we are still trying to get things working again). We called midday on Saturday when we realized the problem was the electric source, someone did come, but not someone who could fix the problem. "Someone" was supposed to come Sunday morning, but so far, no one has showed (it's 9:30 am as I write this). The other 2 campers here also had issues using 50 amp, but they were able to use 30 amp for their smaller rigs. Oh, and be prepared to enjoy passing trains and planes. Bottom line, if you don't care to spend $50 a night for convenience (definitely cheaper than staying in a hotel), and only need 30 amp, and love the sound of the occasional passing train, this is your place. Otherwise, maybe look for something else.
