Lakeview Campground and RV Introduce
Looking for a peaceful "camping near me" experience in Gladwin, Michigan? Lakeview Campground and RV, located at 2616 Lakeshore Dr, Gladwin, MI 48624, USA, might be the tranquil escape you're seeking. You can reach them at (989) 256-3141 or +1 989-256-3141 for bookings and inquiries.
According to recent customer reviews, Lakeview Campground and RV, formerly known as Secord Lake Campground, has recently reopened and offers a notably quiet atmosphere. One reviewer mentioned that during a weekend stay, their group was one of only three campers on the 52 available sites. This low occupancy contributed to a very peaceful environment where the "sounds of nature" could truly be appreciated. This quietness extends to being pet-friendly, making it a nice option for dogs that might bark at passersby in busier campgrounds.
The campsites are described as "spacious," allowing campers to spread out with considerable distance between sites, especially given the current low occupancy. This is a significant advantage for those who value privacy and roominess during their camping experience.
In terms of amenities, Lakeview Campground and RV offers "spacious and clean" bathhouses, a playset for children, horseshoes available for rent, and a "cute camp store stocked with the essentials AND ice cream." For RVers, there is also a dump station on site, adding to the convenience.
However, it's important to note some discrepancies between the campground's name and website descriptions and the actual on-site offerings regarding lake access. Reviewers pointed out that, despite the name "Lakeview Campground" and mentions on their website, there are "no absolutely lake views from any of sites." Furthermore, amenities like walking trails, fishing, and boat rentals are not available at the campground itself. This is partly due to the impact of dam breaks on Secord Lake, which has significantly altered the lake's landscape, including drying up former fishing spots.
One reviewer who specifically came to fish was disappointed to find no fishing spots at the campground and no public fishing spots easily accessible on Secord Lake. While there might be fishing opportunities on the lake accessible by boat, the marina across the road did not offer day rentals at the time of the review.
Despite these limitations regarding lake access directly from the campground, the reviews highlight some positive aspects of the surrounding area. There are "plenty of trail heads and ORV trails within 10 miles of the campground" for those interested in hiking and off-road vehicle activities. Additionally, the owner is described as "really attentive" and providing "excellent customer service," going "above and beyond" for the guests.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who prioritize a quiet and tranquil experience, spacious campsites, clean amenities, and a pet-friendly environment, Lakeview Campground and RV could be a good fit. It's also noted as being "easy to book" and offering "last-minute availability," which can be a plus for spontaneous getaways.
However, if your primary reason for camping is direct lake access for fishing, boating, or lake views from your campsite, you should be aware that Lakeview Campground and RV does not currently offer these on-site. You would need to travel to nearby areas for trails and potentially require a boat to fish on Secord Lake.
In conclusion, Lakeview Campground and RV in Gladwin, MI, provides a quiet and spacious camping experience with clean amenities and excellent customer service. It's particularly suitable for those seeking a peaceful retreat and families with children who can enjoy the playset. While the name might suggest direct lake views and access, this is not the case according to recent feedback. Local users looking for a serene "camping near me" should consider this campground, keeping in mind the actual lake access situation. We recommend contacting them at (989) 256-3141 or +1 989-256-3141 to book your quiet getaway and to ask any specific questions about the current state of lake access and amenities.

Lakeview Campground and RV Reviews
We stumbled upon this new campground while searching for a place to try out our new fishing rods near my parents up north. Here are my pros and cons:The Good:- Quiet: Being that it’s newly reopened (formerly known as Secord Lake Campground), and that Secord Lake is a shell of what it used to be because of the dam breaks (as we later discovered), of the 52 sites available, we were 1 of 3 campers on the premesis on a WEEKEND! It was so great to actually hear the sounds of nature.- Spacious: Adding on to the above, if you like being able to spread out and not camp on top of other people, until this place grows over the years to come, you can bet on having at LEAST several spaces between you and other campers.- Pet-Friendly: Dogs are welcome! It’s hard to find a campground that dogs are allowed, and with it being so quiet, it’s pretty nice for dogs who tend to bark at passersby.- Amenities: Bathhouses are spacious and clean, there’s a play set for kids, horseshoes to rent and play with, and cute camp store stocked with the essentials AND ice cream, and a dump station on site. The Bad:- The website is more than a little misleading. Though these things are all advertised as if they are on-site, there are no absolutely lake views from any of sites (ironic, considering the name), walking trails, fishing, boat rentals, etc. whatsoever. We specifically came to this campground to be able to go fishing, but not only is there no fishing spots at the campground, there os actually no public fishing spots on Secord Lake AT ALL (the few spots are now dried up from the dam break). Considering that fishing is listed as a campground amenity and included in the Lakeview Campground logo, we had every reason to think this was the place to go to try out our new gear. We were very wrong, and very disappointed.I will say, there are plenty of trail heads and ORV trails within 10 miles of the campground to go enjoy. If you’re willing and able to rent a boat, there are spots on the Lake that do have fish biting, but they are only accessible by boat. The marina across the road had no day rentals. With all of that said, if you just want a quiet place to get away, let your kids run and play, and enjoy the sounds of nature with last-minute availability, definitely give this place a shot. The owner is really attentive and goes above and beyond. We ended up really enjoying our stay, even though it was nothing like we’d expected.
