Landslide Campground Introduce
For those seeking an authentic and serene escape into nature, Landslide Campground stands as a prime destination, ideally suited for individuals and families searching for a tranquil camping experience through "Camping Near Me." Located approximately 3 miles south on Forest Road 13S09 past Hume Drive, in Sanger, CA 93657, USA, this campground offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the breathtaking beauty of the Giant Sequoia National Monument.
Landslide Campground is nestled within a picturesque mixed conifer forest at an elevation of approximately 5,800 feet. The environment here is characterized by its natural beauty and a sense of peaceful seclusion, making it an ideal spot for those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A highlight for many visitors is the tranquil creek that runs directly through the middle of the campground, providing soothing ambient sounds and opportunities for exploration, especially for children who enjoy discovering its large boulders and natural features. This idyllic setting contributes significantly to the feeling of being truly immersed in the wilderness, as highlighted by numerous customer reviews praising its secluded and clean nature. The campground's location within the Giant Sequoia National Monument also means campers are surrounded by awe-inspiring natural wonders, including nearby groves of ancient giant sequoias like Bearskin Grove and Landslide Grove. However, it is crucial for all visitors to be aware that Landslide Campground is situated in bear country. Strict food storage rules are in effect to ensure the safety of both campers and wildlife. Bear-proof lockers are provided at each campsite, and campers are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with bear safety measures.
Landslide Campground, while offering a rustic experience, provides essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The campground features a total of nine campsites, with six designated for tent-only camping and three that can accommodate small RVs or trailers up to 16 feet in length. Each campsite is equipped with a heavy-duty redwood table, a fire ring, and a grill, perfect for traditional campfire cooking and gathering. Potable drinking water is available at various spouts throughout the campground, ensuring campers have access to fresh water. Vault toilets are also provided and are consistently noted by visitors for being well-maintained and clean, a significant comfort in a natural setting. For the convenience of campers, trash collection services are available. While cell service is generally not available in this area, which contributes to the campground's appeal for those seeking to unplug, it's important for visitors to plan accordingly. Campfire permits are required for any campfires, barbeques, or camp stoves, and it is always advised to check current fire restrictions before your visit. Reservations for campsites can be made through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777, though some sites may also be available on a first-come, first-served basis, especially during off-peak times. The campground typically operates from mid-May to late September, weather permitting.
Landslide Campground serves as an excellent base for a variety of outdoor recreational activities, aligning perfectly with the offerings one would seek under the "Camping Near Me" category. The immediate surroundings offer numerous opportunities for hiking, with trails winding through the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some of which are accessible to hikers, horses, and bikes outside wilderness areas. The proximity to Hume Lake is a major draw, offering opportunities for fishing, boating, and swimming. Anglers can enjoy fishing for rainbow trout and catfish. For those interested in exploring further, the campground's strategic location provides convenient access to nearby attractions such as Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park, including iconic sights like the General Sherman Tree and the General Grant Tree. Families with children can also engage in the Junior Ranger Program offered at nearby park areas, fostering a love for nature and conservation. Ranger-led programs are also available at various lodges and visitor centers in the wider area, providing insightful information about the natural wonders and history of the region. While the campground offers a compact layout, customer feedback praises specific sites like "Spot 9" for its spaciousness and proximity to amenities, making it ideal for families with kids. The presence of large boulders and the creek provides natural playgrounds for younger campers, ensuring great memories are made.
When considering Landslide Campground for your next adventure via "Camping Near Me," remember that it offers a unique blend of seclusion and accessibility to some of California's most remarkable natural landmarks. To enhance your experience, it is recommended to make reservations in advance, especially during peak season, although some walk-up sites might be available. Current campsite fees range from approximately $34 to $36 per night for a single unit, with an additional fee for extra vehicles. Be prepared for potential weather changes at this elevation, and always pack layered clothing. Given the lack of cell service, a detailed map and prior research are highly recommended. For those new to camping or seeking to optimize their trip, investing in quality camping gear, including appropriate cooking equipment, comfortable sleeping arrangements, and portable lighting solutions, will greatly improve your stay. Due to the presence of bears, strict adherence to food storage regulations is paramount; utilize the provided bear-proof lockers for all food and scented items. Firewood should ideally be sourced locally to prevent the spread of pests and diseases. By respecting the natural environment and adhering to campground guidelines, visitors to Landslide Campground can ensure a safe, enjoyable, and memorable outdoor experience. The quiet atmosphere and natural beauty make it more than just a place to pitch a tent; it's a sanctuary for reconnecting with nature and creating lasting memories with loved ones amidst the majestic Giant Sequoias.

Landslide Campground Reviews
Beautiful spot to camp with friends and family. Our family of 4 was in a tent and our friend's family of 4 were in a tent trailer. Spot 9 is the best spot if you have kids because it has a large space and is right next to the vault toilet (which was kept up pretty nicely). The kids loved exploring the creek that ran through the middle of the campground as well as the large boulders. Great memories made!
