Lazy Days Campground Introduce
For those in the West Bend, Wisconsin area, or those searching the "camping near me" category for a destination offering a wide array of activities and a generally positive atmosphere, Lazy Days Campground, located at 1475 Lakeview Rd, West Bend, WI 53090, USA, presents an interesting option. While online reviews offer a mixed perspective, with some highlighting enjoyable experiences and others expressing significant dissatisfaction, a balanced introduction based on the provided feedback can help local users form their own expectations.
The environment at Lazy Days Campground appears to be quite extensive, as one reviewer notes, "This campground is huge! So bikes came in handy for getting around." This suggests a spacious layout with ample room for exploration. The presence of a "very large field attached to the park that our dog loved to explore" indicates a pet-friendly environment with space for canine companions to roam. Additionally, the sighting of herons flying over to land in a field near area D suggests the presence of local wildlife and a connection to nature, at least in certain areas of the campground.
Water-related activities seem to be a feature of Lazy Days Campground, with mention of a "small but nice area to swim" at the beach, although one visitor noted that the weather during their fall stay was too cold to take advantage of it. The availability of "fishing docks" is a significant plus for those who enjoy angling. For those looking to explore the lake further, the campground offers rentals for "kayaks, canoes or paddle boats," providing opportunities for leisurely excursions on the water.
In terms of services and features, Lazy Days Campground appears to cater to families and those looking for organized activities. The positive review highlighted "weekend events for Fall including a Halloween party & Haunted trail," suggesting that the campground actively organizes themed events, particularly during the fall season, which can be a major draw for families and those seeking a more engaging camping experience. For younger children, the "giant sand pit" seems to be a popular attraction. A "small/simple playground" is also mentioned, providing another recreational option for kids.
Convenience is also a noted aspect, with a "front market" described as "great and super convenient!" This on-site store likely offers essential camping supplies, snacks, and other items, making it easier for campers to access necessities without leaving the campground. The positive mention of kids enjoying stopping in for candy suggests it also offers some treats and indulgences.
The staff at Lazy Days Campground received positive feedback from one reviewer who stayed for three weeks. They were described as "polite" and "always helpful," and the reviewer specifically appreciated their accommodation regarding parking a work truck on site. This suggests a willingness to go the extra mile for guests and provide assistance when needed.
Regarding campground management, the enforcement of a "5mph" speed limit is explicitly mentioned as a policy communicated upon arrival. While one reviewer found it "sometimes painful," they also acknowledged the peace of mind it provided, knowing it enhanced safety for children biking around the campground. This indicates a focus on the safety of guests within the campground.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge the significant negative feedback present in the reviews as well. One highly critical review paints a starkly different picture, alleging issues such as long-term residents, lack of water and sewer hookups at sites (with reliance on a "honey wagon"), and the absence of water for cleaning out systems during cold weather. This reviewer also claimed "disgusting" bathrooms and the need to pay extra for showers ("One quarter = 10 mins of water"). The lack of on-site activities during chilly and rainy weather and the absence of Wi-Fi were also cited as major drawbacks.
In contrast, the more positive reviewer mentioned that the "bathrooms and shower houses were maintained" and "not filthy," although "nothing fancy." This discrepancy highlights the subjective nature of cleanliness and the potential for varying experiences depending on the time of stay and location within the campground (the positive reviewer stayed in area D).
Regarding campsite specifics, the positive reviewer noted that the sites in area D were "mostly level" but were grass, not gravel or paved, and had multiple dug-out fire pits, which could pose a challenge for parking larger RVs. The lack of direct water and sewer hookups at the individual sites is also mentioned by both reviewers, with the positive one noting the availability of a water and dump station at the entrance.
Given the mixed reviews, it is difficult to offer specific promotional information. However, the campground's website or direct contact via phone at (262) 675-6511 or +1 262-675-6511 would be the best way to inquire about current rates, availability, any seasonal specials, and to get clarification on the amenities and services offered. Potential local users should consider the positive aspects such as the weekend events, family-friendly features like the sand pit and playground, water activities, and the pet-friendly environment, while also being aware of the potential drawbacks mentioned in the negative review, such as the lack of direct water/sewer hookups, the need to pay for showers, and the reported condition of the bathrooms.
Ultimately, as one of the reviewers wisely suggests, "Take these reviews with a grain of salt. Check it out for yourself - there’s no perspective like your own." For local users searching for "camping near me" in West Bend, WI, Lazy Days Campground offers a location with a variety of features and activities that may appeal to some, particularly families and those looking for organized events. However, it's recommended to do further research and potentially contact the campground directly to form your own informed opinion based on your specific needs and preferences.

Lazy Days Campground Reviews
We originally booked for only a week(last minute booking) , and after reading the reviews debated cancelling our reservations all together. I’m so glad we didn’t! Our family ended up staying for 3 weeks from Sep-Oct. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s way more likely for a person to leave a negative review than a positive- so sometimes you don’t know what’s posted out of frustration as a jab at the campsite and what’s truly just feedback regarding campground. So here’s my unbiased experience and opinion. We loved the weekend events for Fall including a Halloween party & Haunted trail that was so much fun for us and our pre teens. The park was clean and fun for our 4 year old. She especially loved the giant sand pit! There’s also a very large field attached to the park that our dog loved to explore. (Would be perfect to fence in for a dog park)The Beach area is small but has a nice area to swim (weather permitting- it was a bit cold during our visit). We mostly enjoyed the fishing docks! This campground is huge! So bikes came in handy for getting around. If you don’t have bikes- they rent them by the hour at the market/office. (You can also rent kayaks, canoes or paddle boats)The front market is great and super convenient! My kids loved stopping in for candy lolKudos to all of the staff we encountered during our 3 week stay. Everyone was polite. Always helpful. They were so accommodating when my husband needed to park his work truck on site. (We traveled here for his job). That to us was one of the biggest perks, as his work truck is a necessity. The 5mph is enforced. They tell you this upon arrival- and honestly it gave us so much peace of mind knowing no one would be speeding past our kids as they road their bike around the campground. Even if it was sometimes painful to roll at that speed 😂. Still not a big deal.Showers take quarters. One quarter = 10 mins of water. Bathrooms and shower houses were maintained. Nothing fancy- but definitely not filthy. We stayed in area D of the campground. We loved our spot. We saw herons fly over daily to land in the field by the park. It was quiet and clean. Close to laundry, shower houses, the park and a dumpster. Our spot was mostly level (all spots are grass not graveled or paved) but had like 5 fire pits dugout which made parking a 36ft camper slightly challenging as we were trying to dodge them. But we managed and then proceeded to fill in a couple of them to avoid tripping over them.Overall we loved it here at LazyDays. We will likely be in the area again next year and hope to get to visit again for some of their summer activities!Take these reviews with a grain of salt. Check it out for yourself - there’s no perspective like your own. Happy Camping 🏕️
Oct 21, 2024 · Amber FlanneryIf I could give a 1/4 star that’s what it would be ! This place should be shut down by the government. People live there years round , NO water , NO sewer ,( honey wagon only) when they empty they don’t run water so you can clean out your system. BECAUSE there is no water anytime it’s cold out !Why I gave 1/4 star because they only had electric .I am all for being safe and was fine that the speed limit was only 5 MPH but that ONLY applies to campers NOT employees. The bathroom were disgusting. I paid $245 dollars for a week stay with my discounts and then they expect you to pay for the shower OMG .It was chilly and rainy the entire week we were there and they have absolutely nothing for you to do on site . And absolutely NO WIFI . This place is the biggest DIVE I have ever stayed at.I highly recommend stay FAR AWAY from this place .I have worked and stayed at several campgrounds and this by far is the worst !
Apr 20, 2025 · Cindy CampbellNice place. A little outdated, but mostly very friendly people. This was a nice quiet retreat for my wife and myself. We had our 1 year old lab with us, and enjoyed the others with dogs too. Need to edit this review after my wife came clean with me regarding conversations she had wirh management. The original review was 4 stars. I work nearby and we enjoy a week of camping while I work during the day. The park has a 5 mph speed limit. I was warned 1 time for going 7. I have a digital dash in my work truck. Wife received a nasty call the next day saying I was speeding again( this time I KNOW that I never exceeded 5mph. Just talked with my wife about a week this year, only to be told we are kicked out of the park. Unreal. I will make sure anyone that inquires about nearby camping hears our story.
May 29, 2024 · Dave AssmannThis place has a lot of potential and it does look like they're working on some things but overall we did not enjoy our stay. From the filthy bathrooms, electric and water site without electric, gravel parking spot or a fire ring , mini golf course not kept up at all (crass clipping covering the whole course looks like it was that way for a long time), Grass not cut at all in some spots. we went and played at the park with the kids and some of the equipment was not even anchored to the ground, the showers did not work at all over all looked like the years have taken a toll on this camp ground, and some of the seasonal campers as well. I would say it looks more like a trailer park then a camp ground. I did give it two stars as the people here went above and beyond and were supper friendly with us and our two boys. however that being said I would not recommend taking your family here at all.
May 22, 2022 · Jon SchroederOur family has been camping here for over 20 years. We absolutely love it. My son just proposed to his girlfriend this weekend at the campground while the whole family was there. He wanted some place that had a lot of good memories. Thank you to the staff for being so nice and welcoming to our guests who also drove up for the day to witness the special event! Highly recommend Lazy Days for a wonderful family outing! Bathroom updates are beautiful. Rental trailers are always clean and comfy! Andy is super helpful with anything you need and the ladies in the office are always extremely friendly.
