Lebanon Hills Campground Introduce
For local residents in the St. Paul, Minnesota area and those searching within the "camping near me" category for a well-maintained and conveniently located outdoor experience, Lebanon Hills Campground, situated at 12100 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd, St Paul, MN 55124, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and urban accessibility. Reachable by phone at (651) 480-7773 or mobile phone +1 651-480-7773, this campground within the larger Lebanon Hills Regional Park provides diverse camping options and amenities, making it an attractive choice for various camping preferences.
The environment of Lebanon Hills Campground is best described as being within a "huge urban park." This offers a distinct advantage for local users seeking "camping near me" without venturing far from city conveniences. While immersed in nature, campers are typically within a mile or two of various amenities and services that they might need or desire. Despite its urban setting, the campground maintains a relatively quiet atmosphere, with occasional sounds of air traffic being the primary reminder of its proximity to civilization. The park itself is noted for its well-maintained condition and beautiful landscapes, featuring forests, flowers, and other natural plant life.
Lebanon Hills Campground is organized into three distinct camping loops, each offering different levels of hookups and environmental characteristics to cater to diverse camping needs. The West loop provides full hookups for RVs, including water, electricity, and sewer connections. However, it's noted that the sites in this loop are closer together with fewer trees, which might be a consideration for those seeking more space and shade. The East loop offers electric-only sites with public water spigots available. This is where one reviewer stayed and described the spaces as "massive," offering significant separation between campsites. The East loop is also characterized by a densely forested environment, providing ample shade and a sense of privacy. The sites here are reported to be flat, and the area becomes very dark at night, enhancing the feeling of being away from the city lights.
The North loop is designed for a more primitive camping experience, with no electric hookups available. While specific details are limited, it appears that the spaces in the North loop are also not close together and are likely situated within a forested area, similar to the East loop. This option would appeal to tent campers or those with RVs who do not require electrical connections and prefer a more secluded and natural setting.
In terms of services and features, Lebanon Hills Campground offers several notable amenities. A "great playground" is located in the center of the East loop, making it an excellent choice for families with children. A "very nice bath house" is also centrally located in the East loop, providing clean and well-maintained restroom and shower facilities for campers in that section. The availability of public water spigots in the East loop ensures easy access to water for those sites. While specific amenities for the West and North loops regarding bathhouses and playgrounds are not detailed, it's reasonable to expect similar facilities to be accessible within the campground.
A significant feature that sets Lebanon Hills Campground apart for local users searching for "camping near me" is its pet-friendly policy. Unlike some other regional parks in the area that do not allow pets at all, Lebanon Hills Campground welcomes pets, including cats that stay inside RVs. This is a major advantage for pet owners who want to bring their furry companions along on their camping trips. The welcoming attitude towards pets extends to allowing activities like carrying cats in backpacks, further highlighting the inclusive policy.
The campground also offers "lots of hiking trails" within the broader Lebanon Hills Regional Park. This provides ample opportunities for campers to explore the natural beauty of the area, engage in physical activity, and further immerse themselves in the outdoors. The presence of these trails enhances the appeal for local users who enjoy hiking and nature walks as part of their camping experience.
While the overall experience at Lebanon Hills Campground is positive, one reviewer noted a potential issue with site 82 having a "troubling slant" that prevented their refrigerator from running in their RV. They suggested that this site should come with a disclaimer or be reserved for tents only. While the management was reported to be "extremely courteous," they were unable to relocate the campers. This feedback serves as a point of awareness for potential campers, particularly those with RVs, to possibly inquire about the levelness of their chosen site when making reservations.
Another environmental concern mentioned by a reviewer is the presence of "a lot of invasive tree of heaven." They noted that while it appears to have been cut down in places, this only seems to exacerbate its regrowth. The reviewer expressed hope that this invasive species could be eliminated to preserve the park's other beautiful flowers and plants. This is an ecological factor that local users who are familiar with invasive species might find relevant.
Currently, no specific promotional information or discounts are mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in camping at Lebanon Hills Campground should contact the provided phone numbers – (651) 480-7773 or +1 651-480-7773 – to inquire about campsite availability, reservation procedures, fees, and any current promotions that might be offered. Visiting the Dakota County Parks website, which manages Lebanon Hills Regional Park, may also provide additional information and booking options.
In conclusion, Lebanon Hills Campground offers a convenient and well-maintained "camping near me" option for local residents in the St. Paul area. Its diverse camping loops cater to various preferences, from full-hookup RV sites to more rustic tent camping. The presence of amenities like a playground, bathhouse, and hiking trails, combined with its pet-friendly policy and urban accessibility, makes it an attractive choice for families, RVers, tent campers, and pet owners alike. While some minor issues like uneven sites and invasive species have been noted, the overall positive feedback and the courteous management suggest a pleasant and enjoyable camping experience within a beautiful urban park setting.

Lebanon Hills Campground Reviews
We like the park very much and it is very well maintained. Unfortunately, site 82 has a troubling slant. After four days, we have discovered that a refrigerator will not run when parked on this site. The site should come with a disclaimer or be reserved for tents only. The management is extremely courteous, but they had no other places to, move us. We have lost a good share of the food in our freezer.
Oct 10, 2024 · Pat ZeddiesBeautiful, well-maintained campground with three loops. The West loop is full hook up and the sites are close with few trees. The East loop is electric only with public water spigots available. That’s where we stayed and what is pictured. There is a great playground and very nice bath house in the center of the loop. The spaces are massive - you might be able to see part of a neighbor’s rig but barely if at all. Very densely forested. Sites are flat and it’s dark at night. ;-) The North loop is without any electric. It looks like the spaces are not close together and I think they are probably in a forest, too.You are basically in a huge urban park. You’ll hear air traffic every once in awhile but otherwise quiet. You’re within a mile or two of all the civilization you’d ever want and then some.Oh and the people who work here are extremely friendly. Best of all, pets are welcome here unlike at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park (and one other in the area apparently) who do not allow any pets, not even cats who stay in the RV! If animals are seen through the window you are asked to leave. So it was great to be able to bring our cats here and know all was well. Good luck hiding a cat! One of ours likes to be carried around in a cat backpack so we could do that here, too. Lots of hiking trails. We are definitely going to return. There is a lot of invasive tree of heaven and it looks like it’s been chopped down in places which only makes it come back worse. Gotta poison that stuff or dig it up. I hope that it can be eliminated because the park has so many beautiful flowers and plants otherwise.
Jul 25, 2024 · Nancy HarrisonWe loved staying at Lebanon Hills Campgrounds! We were in the East Loop site 87. We stayed for 4 days in August in a camper van. The sites are a great size, wooded and private. The bathrooms/showers were clean every time we used them. The grounds were kept up great. The employees, CJ, Mike and Tyler were so helpful and friendly. They directed us to the hiking, biking trails and beach. Always easy to find staff if we had a question. We loved going to the office everyday to get an ice cream treat. You can't beat the location. You would never know you are right in the middle of the city. Very family friendly.
Aug 30, 2024 · Sharon BeckerCJ is so good at servicing the guests. We were only an overnight in our motorhome recently and he provided us with sufficient information and a full service site. Very clean and tidy spot. Paved space. Easy access to the services along the one side and at back.Wish we had time to stay longer. Shall plan better for next time. Hoping it will be sooner than a year from now.
Sep 26, 2024 · Kim HWe stayed at Lebanon Hills Campground for 4 days and I was so surprised at this hidden gem in the metro! I had no idea that this beautiful park was just 20 minutes from my house! CJ, Lisa and Mike are FANTASTIC campground hosts. They made sure that my family had full park information. CJ went above and beyond when I was trying to rent a paddle board in advance on my phone and the website was not working. He called the rental center and ensured I had two boards were reserved. The next day it was raining, he even called and adjusted the times at the rental center! He is the BEST! The campground is clean and beautiful, you'd never know that you are in the middle of the city! I highly recommend going there! We spent a lot of time at the beach and visitor center as well, they are all clean and beautifully maintained! We will be back.
