Fish Lake Acres Campground Introduce
For local users exploring the "camping near me" platform category in the vicinity of the Twin Cities, Fish Lake Acres Campground located at 3000 210th St E, Prior Lake, MN 55372, USA, presents a camping option with a range of features and experiences, as indicated by recent customer reviews. Reachable by phone at (952) 492-3393 or mobile at +1 952-492-3393, this campground offers access to Fish Lake and various amenities. However, the reviews present a somewhat contrasting picture, highlighting both positive aspects like staff and lake access, as well as a significant potential drawback concerning noise from a nearby gun range. This introduction aims to provide a balanced overview to help local users make an informed decision.
Environment and Location near Prior Lake:
Fish Lake Acres Campground is situated in Prior Lake, Minnesota, a location within easy driving distance for residents of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The presence of Fish Lake suggests that the campground offers access to a lake environment, potentially providing opportunities for swimming, boating, and enjoying waterfront scenery. One positive review mentions plenty of beach space, particularly during weekdays, indicating that the lake is a significant feature of the campground. The campground is also described as a "pretty place" by one reviewer, suggesting an aesthetically pleasing natural setting.
However, a critical review raises a significant concern about the environment, specifically the proximity to a gun range that allegedly operates continuously from dawn well beyond sunset. This reviewer describes the experience as a "non-stop high anxiety" situation resembling a "constant mass-shooting incident or battlefield," creating an atmosphere that is far from relaxing and even inducing fear of stray bullets, deterring outdoor activities like walking trails. This starkly contrasts with the expectation of a peaceful natural retreat often associated with camping. Local users sensitive to noise should carefully consider this potential environmental factor.
Services and Amenities Offered:
Based on the customer reviews, Fish Lake Acres Campground offers the following services and amenities:
- Friendly and Informative Staff: Multiple reviewers commend the staff as "super amazing," "very nice, respectful, and informative." This suggests a positive and helpful service orientation from the campground management.
- Quiet Hours Respected: The campground enforces quiet hours starting at 10 PM, which was reportedly respected by all campers, contributing to a more peaceful nighttime environment.
- Friendly Long-Term Residents: The presence of friendly and welcoming long-term residents is noted as a positive aspect of the community within the campground.
- Beach Access: The campground provides access to a beach area on Fish Lake, with ample space available, especially during weekdays.
- Boat Rentals: Boat rentals are available at the campground, with a convenient payment system where charges are incurred after returning the boat.
- Snack Options: The main office offers a variety of snacks for purchase, with options priced under $1, which was enjoyed by children.
- Potential for Fogging for Bug Control: The campground allows fogging for insect control, suggesting that bugs, particularly near the trees, can be a significant issue. Campers are advised to be prepared with bug spray and potentially fog bombs.
- Bathroom Facilities (Potentially Problematic): One negative review mentions bathroom facilities "riddled with black mold" and advises caution regarding the water quality. This is a serious concern that local users should be aware of and potentially verify.
The reviews do not provide extensive details on other typical campground amenities such as specific types of campsites (tent, RV with full hookups, etc.), laundry facilities, or recreational areas beyond the lake and potential trails (though one reviewer was hesitant to use them due to noise concerns). Local users with specific amenity requirements should contact the campground directly for more information.
Features and Highlights for Local Campers (with Caveats):
Fish Lake Acres Campground has several features that might appeal to local users, but these must be weighed against the potential negative aspects:
- Lake Access and Water Activities: The direct access to Fish Lake and the availability of boat rentals are significant positives for those who enjoy water-based recreation.
- Friendly and Helpful Staff: The consistently praised staff can enhance the overall camping experience through their helpfulness and positive attitude.
- Quiet Nighttime Environment: The enforcement of quiet hours ensures a peaceful sleep after a day of activities.
- Sense of Community: The welcoming nature of long-term residents can contribute to a friendly atmosphere within the campground.
However, the following potential drawbacks are significant and should be carefully considered:
- Severe Noise Pollution from Gun Range: The constant gunfire described in one review poses a serious threat to the peace and relaxation typically sought during camping. Local users seeking a tranquil escape might find this unacceptable.
- Potentially Unsanitary Bathroom Facilities: The mention of black mold in the bathrooms and concerns about water quality are significant health and hygiene issues.
- Bug Issues: While fogging is allowed, the need for "mass amounts of bug spray" and fog bombs indicates a potentially severe insect problem, especially near wooded areas.
Promotional Information and Appeal to Local Users (with Cautionary Notes):
When promoting Fish Lake Acres Campground to local users in the "camping near me" category, it's crucial to present a balanced picture that acknowledges both the positive and negative feedback. Potential promotional points could include:
- "Lakeside Camping Fun near the Twin Cities": Highlight the access to Fish Lake for swimming, boating, and enjoying the water.
- "Experience Our Friendly Community and Amazing Staff": Emphasize the positive interactions with campground personnel and long-term residents.
- "Enjoy Peaceful Nights with Enforced Quiet Hours": Assure campers of a restful nighttime environment.
- "Convenient Boat Rentals and Lakeside Relaxation": Promote the ease of accessing water activities directly from the campground.
However, it is ethically imperative to also make local users aware of the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews:
- "Please Be Aware of Potential Noise from a Nearby Gun Range": Inform prospective campers about the possibility of significant and persistent noise during the day.
- "Concerns Raised Regarding Bathroom Conditions and Water Quality": Advise users to inquire about the current status of these facilities before booking.
- "Be Prepared for Bugs, Especially Near Trees": Recommend bringing ample insect repellent and fogging solutions.
Local users considering Fish Lake Acres Campground should carefully weigh the positive feedback regarding staff and lake access against the serious concerns raised about noise pollution and the condition of the bathroom facilities. It would be prudent to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current situation regarding the gun range noise and the bathroom conditions. Reading more recent reviews from various platforms might also provide a more up-to-date perspective on the overall camping experience.
In conclusion, Fish Lake Acres Campground near Prior Lake offers a lakeside setting with friendly staff and a sense of community. However, local users searching for "camping near me" must be aware of potentially significant noise issues from a nearby gun range and reported problems with the bathroom facilities. Being informed about both the positive and negative aspects will allow local campers to make a well-considered decision based on their individual preferences and tolerance for noise and their expectations regarding campground amenities.

Fish Lake Acres Campground Reviews
If you LOVE the NON-STOP HIGH ANXIETY of trying to camp next to a gun range that never closes, then this is the place for you! Had to stay a month here and the assault of gun fire never ceases! Like living in a constant mass-shooting incident or battlefield. Wouldn't dare try to walk the trails or do any outdoor activities due to the fear of a stray bullet! It sounded like they are coming from all directions from dawn to way beyond sunset! NOT relaxing! The bathroom facilities are riddled with black mold and the water... I'd recommend staying away from it! Pretty place, wish I could have actually enjoyed our stay rather than being bombarded with constant anxiety due to the war zone atmosphere!
Nov 12, 2024 · Lucy VincentThe entire staff at this campground is super amazing. Everyone was very nice, respectful, and informative. We stayed Sunday night through the week and checked out Friday morning. Quiet hours start at 10 and was respected by everyone. The long term residents were so friendly and welcoming. The week days are slower, so there was plenty of beach space. For the boat rentals, they charge you after coming back in, which is a great system. The only thing I would have to say is be prepared for the bugs!! We were by the trees, and even with mass amounts of bug spray, I still got eaten alive. This camp ground allows fogging so I would be sure to bring a fog bomb before setting up. My kids enjoyed the snacks purchased in the main office as well, as they have plenty of options for under $1.
Jul 12, 2024 · Samantha HEasily the worst campground I have stayed at.First thoughts were very overpriced for what you get. At first glace it was not so bad, but they nickle and dime you. Charged 10 per person over 2 people staying in same camper and 2 dollars per dog per night.Bathrooms were in need of TLC. Toilet seat had duct tape repair. Curtains instead of doors for your privacy.Water was tinny smelling...didnt dare to drink it.We were put on a hill which was ok cause it rained but the site was very unlevel and muddy so it was dangerous to walk around. There was a gun range close that made it miserable for our dogs who fear the sound of loud bangs. Nothing was mentioned in advance.Hard to book because it was very "paper only" and no website, email or phone number for off season.
Jul 20, 2024 · ToolmanStayed here for a few months last year for work..we'refrom Ohio....we LOVED it!! Jul 24, 2024 · Nancy RidgwayWe stayed a Saturday and Sunday nights. Saturday evening was noisy and lots of campfires. The smoke came in our RV so much , making it hard to breathe. The next a.m., when walking my dog, I saw a big burn pit smoldering in the utility area, where they'd been burning branches and tree stumps the day before. I'm sure that caused the heavy smoke.Quiet time on weekends begins at 11 p.m. There was noise around us till at least 1 a.m.Most of the RVs in the park are monthly residents, so on Monday a.m. at 4:30 the first of the trucks started their departure for work. I lost count at 13, leaving in 10-15 minute intervals. Between loud mufflers and crunching tires on gravel roads in the park, it made sleep difficult. We stayed here because it was the only park I could find on short notice with an opening. We probably won't be staying again. Also, no credit cards. Cash or check only. After making the reservation I had to mail a check. I called ahead to check on the length of electric cord and hose we would need. The woman I talked with couldn't answer with certainty. She suggested that we have 100 feet of both just in case. We had never needed those lengths before, ever. So we bought extra of both. As it turned out, we didn't need either. But apparently, some spots need up to 100 ft.
