Allanson's Park Camping Introduce
For local residents seeking a delightful "camping near me" experience in a smaller, more intimate setting, Allanson's Park Camping in Henderson, MN, presents an appealing option. Located at 500 South St, this campground has garnered positive feedback from visitors who appreciate its manageable size, spacious campsites, and family-friendly atmosphere. Combining a "beautiful green getaway" environment with essential services and recreational features, Allanson's Park Camping offers a welcoming retreat for RVers and tent campers alike.
The environment of Allanson's Park Camping is described by reviewers as a "beautiful green getaway," suggesting a setting rich in natural beauty and offering a peaceful escape. The campground is situated "up on a hill," potentially providing pleasant views of the surrounding area. Its location in Henderson, MN, a town in the southern part of the state, likely means it benefits from the scenic landscapes typical of the region. The presence of "large campsites" indicates that visitors can expect ample space to set up their tents or park their RVs comfortably, allowing for a more relaxed and less crowded feel. While one reviewer noted the presence of mosquitoes, this is a common occurrence in many outdoor environments, especially during certain times of the year in Minnesota, and prospective campers should be prepared with appropriate insect repellent. Despite this, the overall impression is of a well-maintained and pleasant natural setting for a camping experience.
Allanson's Park Camping offers several key services to ensure a comfortable stay for those seeking "camping near me." The availability of "water and electric hookups" is a significant advantage for RV campers, providing essential utilities for a convenient and enjoyable experience. For parking, the campground features "good gravel parking pads" at each site, offering a stable and relatively clean surface. Bathroom facilities are available, although they are described as "single bathrooms" for men and women, each equipped with a shower. While this might mean occasional waiting during peak times, the reviewers note that they are "pretty decent." The provision of "LG plastic garbage cans" at each site indicates a focus on waste management and keeping the campground tidy. It's important to note that a "no dumping station" policy is mentioned, so RVers needing this service will need to plan accordingly at a different location before or after their stay.
The features of Allanson's Park Camping cater to a range of campers, particularly families. A "playground" is available and was enjoyed by visitors' children, making it a family-friendly destination. The campground is also described as "animal and child friendly," suggesting a welcoming atmosphere for those traveling with pets and young ones. For recreational activities, the campground offers the opportunity to "play horseshoes or volleyball," providing options for outdoor fun and social interaction among campers. The fact that there are only "18 sites" is highlighted as a positive aspect, contributing to a more relaxed and less crowded atmosphere, even when the campground is fully booked. This smaller size can enhance the feeling of being in nature without the hustle and bustle of larger campgrounds. The campground's location just a "mile away" from downtown Henderson offers the convenience of accessing local amenities, shops, and potentially dining options.

For local users considering Allanson's Park Camping, the positive reviews emphasize its charm and suitability for both RV and tent campers. The large campsites and good parking pads cater well to RVs, while the green environment and playground appeal to families and those seeking a natural retreat. The proximity to downtown Henderson adds a layer of convenience for accessing local services or exploring the town. However, it's important to be aware of the single-stall bathroom facilities and the absence of a dumping station for RVs. The mention of mosquitoes suggests that bringing insect repellent is essential for a comfortable stay, particularly during warmer months.
The size of Allanson's Park Camping, with only 18 sites, contributes to its appeal as a "small campground" where visitors can enjoy a sense of community without feeling overwhelmed. This limited number of sites also suggests that booking in advance, especially during weekends or holidays, might be advisable to secure a spot. Local users who appreciate a quieter and more personal camping experience might find this smaller scale particularly attractive. The combination of essential hookups, recreational features like the playground and sports areas, and the natural setting makes Allanson's Park Camping a well-rounded option for a local getaway.
In conclusion, Allanson's Park Camping in Henderson, MN, offers a "pretty nice small campground" experience for local users seeking "camping near me." Its large campsites, water and electric hookups, family-friendly amenities like a playground, and proximity to downtown Henderson make it a convenient and enjoyable destination for RVers and tent campers. Allanson's Park Camping Reviews
Pretty nice small campground. Large campsites. Good gravel parking pad. Park bathrooms are only single bathrooms (so one men's room and one women's) with a shower but pretty decent. My daughter's liked the playground. It was nice that there are only 18 sites so even though they were all full it felt like there was hardly anybody there. Water and electric hookups. I think my only negative was that there were thousands of mosquitos that were also enjoying the campground
May 26, 2024 · Jason SchuftBeautiful green getaway for campers. From large RV's, down to the tents. 8 or 9 spacious pull ins to put up camp. No dumping station but LG plastic garbage cans. Animal and child friendly with a playground. Up on a hill and down town Henderson just mile away. Play horseshoes or volleyball. Enjoy 😊😉
Jun 09, 2019 · Dawn TherosVery nice grassy park with lots of shade. Big wide spots. Bathrooms are nothing special but functional. Our GPS routed us in on Ridge road which looks to be closed for some time. Go the long way around on South Street.
Sep 17, 2024 · shaun thompsonNice, clean, quiet little campground. 17 spots available. Tents or RV friendly. Electric and water hookup at all sites. Fire ring and good size picnic table at each site. Great tree coverage. Fun little playground for the kids. Restroom + shower on site. Dump Station for easy off loading on your way out.
