Little Goose Campground Introduce
Nestled within the picturesque landscape near Buffalo, Wyoming, lies the enchanting Little Goose Campground. For local adventurers seeking an authentic outdoor experience under the vast Wyoming sky, Little Goose Campground offers a tranquil retreat. As a featured option within the 'camping near me' category, this campground provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature's embrace.
The environment at Little Goose Campground is truly captivating. Situated alongside the gentle flow of the Little Goose River, the campground boasts a serene and calming atmosphere. Imagine waking up to the soothing sounds of the river and the crisp mountain air. Towering trees provide ample shade, creating cool and comfortable campsites, particularly welcome during warmer months. The natural beauty of the surrounding forest offers a genuine escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Little Goose Campground embraces a more primitive camping style, allowing visitors to connect deeply with the natural environment. The campsites are well-spaced, offering a sense of privacy and tranquility. Many sites feature metal fire rings or rock pits, perfect for gathering around a crackling campfire under the starry night. These spacious sites can comfortably accommodate small groups or families looking to share a memorable outdoor adventure.
While the camping experience is intentionally rustic, essential services are provided for your convenience. A centrally located vault toilet is maintained to ensure cleanliness, addressing a fundamental need for campers. It's important to note that the campsites themselves are primitive, meaning they do not typically offer amenities such as running water or electrical hookups. Campers should come prepared with all necessary supplies for a self-sufficient and enjoyable stay.
One of the standout features of Little Goose Campground is its direct access to a main hiking trail. This provides a fantastic opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the forest, discover local flora and fauna, and enjoy invigorating hikes right from your campsite. The proximity to the trail makes Little Goose an ideal basecamp for those eager to explore the natural wonders of the area.
However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware of the access conditions to Little Goose Campground. As highlighted by the National Forest Service and echoed by visitor reviews, the road leading to the campground requires a high-centered 4x4 vehicle. The road conditions include large washouts and significant rocks, presenting a challenging drive for vehicles without adequate clearance and four-wheel drive capability. Additionally, there are creek crossings along the access road. While these conditions might seem daunting, many visitors attest that the rewarding beauty and tranquility of the campground make the journey entirely worthwhile. It's also important to note, as one reviewer mentioned, that navigating larger trailers like a 5th wheel can be exceptionally difficult, and even maneuvering a popup camper requires careful consideration. Once you venture onto the access road, backing out can be challenging, so ensure your vehicle and driving skills are well-suited for the terrain.
For those equipped with the appropriate vehicle, Little Goose Campground promises a unique and rewarding camping experience. The quiet and clean environment, coupled with the stunning natural surroundings and access to outdoor activities, creates a perfect setting for a peaceful getaway. The cooler temperatures, as noted by a reviewer, can provide a welcome respite during warmer periods.

Little Goose Campground Reviews
Little Goose is a gorgeous campground! Well spaced sites which some have metal fire rings and some are rock pits boast plenty of room to host a small group or family. The vault toilet is located centrally in the campground and kept clean. However, the National Forest Service site states it is 4x4 accessable. That is TRUTH! Must have high centered 4x4 due to large washouts and large rocks in the road....and don't forget the creek crossings! But all worth it!!!
Jun 28, 2020 · Jen WThis little campground is very quite clean. They do have restrooms. Camping spots are primitive. It's right by the Little Goose river. My son got his 5th wheel down here but I don't see how. There was a popup camper in there. It's right on a main tail. Once you get started in there, there is no backing out. It is beautiful. Pretty cool temps.
Sep 04, 2019 · Kimberly DeBuskVault toilets are closed for decommissioning. Bring your shovel.Fence needs repairing. Broken in a few places and this allows cows in the camping area. Lots of cow chips.Road into campground is very rough and rocky.
Aug 24, 2022 · Melissa EcklesThis whole area is absolutely gorgeous but it's 100% impossible to access without high clearance 4x4. Ended up camping in the woods off of a more accessible road and still woke up to amazing views.
