Little Meadows Campground Introduce
For local users in the 'camping near me' category looking for a camping destination near Grantsville, MD, Little Meadows Campground, located at Grantsville, MD 21536, USA, offers a seemingly picturesque setting with a large pond. However, recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective, highlighting both the natural beauty and potential limitations of this campground. It's crucial for prospective visitors to consider these points to determine if Little Meadows Campground aligns with their camping needs and expectations.
The environment at Little Meadows Campground is described by one reviewer as "very beautiful," with a significant feature being a 100-acre pond. This large water body offers opportunities for activities such as fishing, as mentioned by the reviewer who enjoyed fishing and releasing their catch. The overall atmosphere is reported to be "very quiet," which could be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from the noise of more bustling campgrounds. The presence of some privately owned sites that are described as "beautiful" suggests that the campground has established areas with well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing setups. However, it's important to note that one reviewer mentioned a persistent dog barking at night, indicating that the quiet environment might not be entirely guaranteed.
In terms of services and features, the limited information from the reviews provides a partial picture. One reviewer mentioned staying on site 1, which was conveniently located near the bathroom and dump stations. This suggests that these essential facilities are available and accessible, at least from some campsites. The price is described as "very reasonable," which could be an attractive factor for budget-conscious campers within the 'camping near me' search. However, a significant drawback highlighted by another reviewer is the condition of the roads within the campground, described as "mud and gravel." This could pose challenges for certain types of vehicles, especially larger ones.
A critical feature mentioned in one of the reviews is that Little Meadows Campground is "95% permanent residents." This high percentage of long-term occupants can significantly impact the overall atmosphere and experience for short-term campers. Permanent resident-heavy campgrounds might have a different vibe than those primarily catering to transient visitors, potentially feeling more like a residential community than a traditional campground. This could affect the availability of prime campsites and the types of activities or social interactions one might expect.
A major concern raised by a visitor with a 40' 5th wheel is the accessibility for large rigs. They explicitly stated that "there is no way 2 big rigs will fit in the campground" and recounted a difficult experience of having to back up over 100 feet to exit the premises. This suggests that the internal roads and campsite sizes may not be adequately designed for accommodating large recreational vehicles. The reviewer emphasized that they were explicit in explaining the size of their rigs when making the reservation, implying a potential miscommunication or lack of accurate information provided by the campground regarding site suitability for large RVs. This is a crucial point for any local users with larger trailers or motorhomes searching within the 'camping near me' category.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, local users would need to contact Little Meadows Campground directly to inquire about any current specials, discounts, or seasonal offers that might be available. The "reasonable price" mentioned by one reviewer suggests that the campground might offer competitive rates, but it would be wise to confirm current pricing and any potential additional fees.
In summary, Little Meadows Campground near Grantsville, MD, offers a beautiful setting with a large pond and a generally quiet atmosphere, which could appeal to those seeking a peaceful natural retreat. The reasonable pricing and the availability of essential facilities like bathrooms and dump stations are also positive aspects. However, potential visitors, especially those with large RVs, need to be aware of significant limitations regarding internal road conditions and campsite accessibility for big rigs. The fact that the campground is predominantly occupied by permanent residents might also influence the overall camping experience for short-term visitors. Local users searching within the 'camping near me' category should carefully consider these factors and perhaps contact the campground directly to discuss their specific needs and the suitability of the sites for their equipment.
For local campers with smaller vehicles or those primarily interested in a quiet, lakeside environment for tent camping or smaller trailers, Little Meadows Campground might still be a viable option. The beauty of the pond and the peaceful setting could outweigh the concerns about permanent residents. However, the negative experience of the large RV owner serves as a strong caution for anyone traveling with a significant-sized rig. It underscores the importance of clearly communicating the dimensions of your vehicle when making a reservation and potentially seeking confirmation about the suitability of the assigned site. Ultimately, local users will need to balance the attractive natural features and reasonable prices against the potential challenges related to accessibility and the nature of the campground's occupancy based on the available feedback within the 'camping near me' context.

Little Meadows Campground Reviews
We camp with another couple and we both have 40' 5th Wheels. We were explicit in explaining our rigs and made sure that they knew what we had. The roads are mud and gravel. There is no way 2 big rigs will fit in the campground. I had to back up over 100' to get out of this place. Horrible! Oh, and this campground is 95% permanent residents.
Apr 30, 2025 · Mike BIt is very beautiful, 100 acres of pond, we did some fishing, but released them back. Very quiet, except for someone's dog barking a good bit of the night. I guess you can't have everything. Lol there are some sites that people own, that are beautiful. We stayed on site 1 which was very close to the bathroom, and dump stations. Very reasonable price
