Loon Hollow Cottages Introduce
For local users in Maine seeking "camping near me" with the charm of a lakeside cabin, Loon Hollow Cottages, located at 195 Fields Pond Rd, Orrington, ME 04474, USA, presents a potentially appealing option. Situated on a lake, this establishment offers cabin rentals in what one reviewer describes as having a "very 'Wind in the Willows' motif," suggesting a cozy and perhaps whimsical atmosphere. To inquire about availability and make reservations, you would need to contact them directly, as a phone number is not provided in the available information.
The environment of Loon Hollow Cottages is clearly defined by its lakeside location. The phrase "On a lake" in one of the reviews indicates direct access to a body of water, likely offering scenic views and potentially opportunities for water-related activities such as swimming, kayaking, or simply enjoying the peacefulness of the waterfront. The "cozy cottage" description further suggests a setting conducive to relaxation and a more intimate connection with nature. The "Wind in the Willows" reference evokes images of a charming, perhaps slightly secluded, and nature-integrated setting, possibly with quaint landscaping or architectural elements contributing to this aesthetic.
Information regarding specific services and features of Loon Hollow Cottages is limited in the provided reviews. One review details a personal interaction with the owner while viewing two potential rental options: a small cottage and an apartment. The fact that the small cottage was deemed "perfect" by the prospective renter suggests that it is well-suited for individuals or perhaps couples seeking a cozy space. The mention of an "apartment" on the property indicates that there may be different types of rental units available, potentially catering to varying needs and group sizes. However, the negative experience with the apartment, citing a moldy smell and steep stairs unsuitable for someone with mobility concerns, highlights the importance of inquiring about the specific unit being offered to ensure it meets individual needs and expectations.
The features of the "cozy cottage," which seems to be the more desirable option based on the reviews, are not extensively described. However, the positive initial impression of being "perfect" suggests that it offers a comfortable and functional living space. The lakeside location itself is a significant feature, providing potential access to the lake and its associated recreational possibilities. The "Wind in the Willows" motif hints at a certain charm and character in the design or ambiance of the cottage, which could be appealing to those seeking a unique and aesthetically pleasing getaway.
The detailed narrative of one reviewer's experience with the rental process raises some concerns regarding booking reliability and communication. While the initial interaction with the owner was positive, leading the reviewer to believe they had secured the small cottage for a month-long stay, the subsequent change of mind by the owner resulted in significant inconvenience and distress for the prospective renter. This experience underscores the importance of obtaining clear and confirmed booking agreements when considering a stay at Loon Hollow Cottages. The reviewer's account also mentions the owner confiding about financial struggles and the neglected state of the rental properties, which, while providing context for the situation, does not directly inform potential future renters about the current condition and management of the cottages.
Currently, there is no explicit promotional information available for Loon Hollow Cottages in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any special offers, discounts, or packages that might be available. Local users interested in renting a cabin here would need to directly contact the owner to inquire about pricing, availability, and any current promotions. The appeal of Loon Hollow Cottages seems to lie primarily in its lakeside location and the charm of the "cozy cottage," rather than any advertised deals.
In conclusion, Loon Hollow Cottages in Orrington, Maine, offers a "camping near me" experience in a potentially picturesque lakeside setting with a "cozy cottage" that has been positively received by at least one prospective renter. The "Wind in the Willows" motif suggests a unique and charming ambiance. However, the detailed account of another potential renter highlights the importance of clear communication and confirmed bookings. Local users considering Loon Hollow Cottages should inquire specifically about the available rental units, their condition, and the booking terms to ensure a satisfactory experience. The lakeside environment and the promise of a cozy retreat could make this a desirable option for those seeking a relaxing getaway in Orrington, Maine.

Loon Hollow Cottages Reviews
I met with the owner and looked at two possible rentals for myself right when I drove in he came up and said this is the one that should probably be for you and it was a little cabin so we went in to see that one first perfect for meand then he took me to what he calls an apartment and when you walk in it smells like mold and there were steep stairs that a lady who is retired should not be using and having to go up and down with groceries and laundry just not a good fit so we decided that I would take the cabinso after much unnecessary texting and calling this is what I got for an answer today from the owner:"We decided to keep the small cottage for short term rental Kathy, I wish the apartment was better suited to your needs"now bear in mind I I'm in between a closing from my home in a closing for my new home so I need a month a rental property and he knows that I don't have a place to go from May 23rd to June 23rd...this is the next thing he said so he changed his mind about the short term rental and then said this:"There's a decision period for me also as a Landlord. I'm concerned about it's suitability for you and also need to balance what is best for me.I'm not wanting to "do anything to you" , I'd kike to help but the best unit I could offer for that, the apartment, is unsuitable...he confided in me that he's having a struggle with the monies because his mother passed away God bless her heart and the area and whatever he has to rent there is really been neglected anyway so I thought I was really helping him out too;that's me I always think about the other person so basically I have no place to live 2 weeks before I have to move out of my home very very unacceptable very pathetic that somebody would do this to you after he completely let me believe that I was going to be able to rent the cottage
