Mahogany Grove Group Campground Introduce
Attention local adventurers seeking exceptional "camping near me" opportunities for group outings! Mahogany Grove Group Campground, situated near Coleville, Nevada, offers a unique setting for larger gatherings looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region. Located at NV-158, Coleville, NV 96107, USA, this campground provides spacious campsites and essential amenities designed to accommodate groups comfortably.
One of the standout features of Mahogany Grove Group Campground, as highlighted by visitor reviews, is the sheer size of the campsites. These are described as "huge," offering an abundance of space for setting up multiple tents and creating a comfortable communal area for your group. Furthermore, each site boasts ample parking, making it convenient for multiple vehicles associated with a larger party. You won't have to worry about overcrowding or limited space for your vehicles at Mahogany Grove.
In addition to the generous space, each campsite is equipped with picnic benches, providing convenient and designated areas for meals and gatherings. The presence of these benches adds to the functionality and comfort of the camping experience, allowing your group to dine and socialize with ease. Another notable amenity is the extra-large grill available at each site. This oversized grill is a significant advantage for group camping, enabling you to prepare meals for a larger number of people simultaneously, enhancing the communal cooking experience.
Regarding bathroom facilities, it's important to note that Mahogany Grove Group Campground features pit toilets and does not have running water at the toilet facilities. While one reviewer mentioned that the pit toilets "did not smell too bad" during their visit, another reviewer had significantly less positive experiences during two out of three visits, describing "horrendous" conditions with fly infestations and strong odors. This inconsistency suggests that the condition of the bathrooms might vary, and it's something to be aware of when planning your trip. It's advisable to come prepared with hand sanitizer and perhaps consider bringing portable toilet options for your group's comfort and hygiene.
Despite the lack of running water at the immediate campsite, there is a potential workaround. Friendly and helpful park rangers reportedly informed visitors that it might be possible to bring containers and fill them with water from a neighboring campsite. This information could be crucial for planning your water needs, especially for a larger group. It's recommended to confirm this possibility with the rangers upon arrival or during the reservation process to ensure access to water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning.
The views from Mahogany Grove Group Campground are described as "beautiful," suggesting a scenic environment that will enhance your group's outdoor experience. The campsites also offer "lots of space between other groups," providing a sense of privacy and allowing your group to enjoy their time without feeling too close to other campers. This spacing contributes to a more relaxed and immersive natural experience.
One reviewer shared their experiences across multiple campgrounds in the area, including McNutt, Smith, and Scrugham, indicating that the region is an "awesome place with great places to camp." This broader positive feedback suggests that Mahogany Grove is situated within a desirable area for outdoor recreation and group camping.
The same reviewer provided specific details about Scrugham Campground, mentioning 7 tent pads and 9 parking spots, highlighting the ample space available for large groups. While this information pertains to a different campground, it reinforces the general characteristic of the area as being well-suited for accommodating larger parties seeking "camping near me." It suggests that Mahogany Grove likely shares this attribute of spaciousness and the ability to handle multiple vehicles.
The contrasting experiences with the bathroom cleanliness serve as a reminder that conditions at more rustic campgrounds can sometimes be variable. While the beautiful views and spacious sites are consistently praised, it's wise for groups to have contingency plans regarding sanitation, such as bringing extra hand sanitizer, wipes, and potentially portable toilet solutions, especially if hygiene is a significant concern for your group members.
The incident reported by one reviewer regarding their portable toilet being disposed of by a park ranger highlights the importance of understanding and adhering to campground rules and regulations. While the reviewer felt the ranger's actions were unwarranted, it underscores the need for clear communication and awareness of what is and is not permitted at the campsite. It's always best to clarify any uncertainties with the campground management or park rangers upon arrival.
For local users in the "camping near me" category planning a group camping trip, Mahogany Grove Group Campground offers a compelling combination of spaciousness, scenic beauty, and essential amenities like picnic benches and a large grill. The potential for obtaining water from a neighboring campsite, as mentioned by a ranger, is also a significant advantage. However, it is crucial to be prepared for pit toilets without running water and to be aware of the possibility of variable cleanliness. Contacting the campground directly at (801) 226-3564 or +1 801-226-3564 to inquire about current conditions, water availability, and any specific group camping regulations is highly recommended before making your reservation.
In conclusion, Mahogany Grove Group Campground presents an excellent opportunity for large groups seeking a spacious and scenic "camping near me" experience near Coleville, Nevada. The huge campsites, ample parking, extra-large grills, and beautiful views make it an attractive option for communal outdoor adventures. While the pit toilets and lack of running water at the facilities are important considerations, the potential access to water from a nearby campsite and the overall positive feedback regarding the campground's environment and amenities suggest that Mahogany Grove can provide a memorable group camping experience. Remember to call the provided phone numbers for the most up-to-date information and to address any specific concerns your group may have before your visit.

Mahogany Grove Group Campground Reviews
The sites are huge with lots of parking and picnic benches. The grill is extra large. The bathrooms are the pit kind without running water but did not smell too bad. Views were beautiful with lots of space between other groups. Note that they do not have running water but rangers told us we could bring containers and fill from a neighboring campsite. Rangers were friendly and helpful.
May 03, 2023 · Angela LinI've stayed here 3 times now at mcnutt, smith, and scrugham campgrounds.Awesome place with great places to camp.Scrugham has 7 tent pads and 9 parking spots. Plenty of space for a large group. The reason I give 4 stars is because 2 out of 3 visits the bathrooms had been HORRENDOUS...poltergeist horror movie fly infestations and the stench was awful. Not to mention the stains all over..... to the point we set up our own toilet tent near the dumpster this time.... crazy enough...the park ranger stopped by and threw away our tent AND toilet into the dumpster. I seen him in the parking lot and figured he was just doing his rounds....Later on I went to use it and I was worried it blew away only to find it added up in the dumpster.Didn't even bother to ask if it was ours or anything, we would have moved it if it were an issue....if they don't want anyone using their own toilets they should keep theirs clean.Other than that. Great campsite and plan to visit many more times, and I'll have to buy another tent for our toilet. ;)
May 04, 2025 · Carissa RodriguezQuite and peaceful. I expected more campers sharing the site, but I had it to myself. It can seem hidden to people new to the area, but if you park in the upper parking lot (3-4 car capacity), it is just behind the lot. Don't take the side walk. Go down the rocks and follow the path straight.
Jul 12, 2022 · Raphael WMy 13 year old daughter and I decided last second to go camping. We packed up at sunset wondered around to all the other camp site which were full or closed. And thank goodness because it led us to this one!!!! Beautifully kept up! Clean! Spacious! We had such a great time. My daughter and I are use to roughing it. So that fact of no water, electricity, or cell service didn't bother us a bit. We like it that way!!!I WILL BE BACK AGAIN!!!!
Nov 04, 2018 · Melissa NealThese are great smelling candles! I got the cozy bundles during the fall! The packaging was so cute and it was such a treat to open! I am not good with wooden wicks so they are a bit hard sometimes-time isn't always on our side to let it melt to a pool. I had a tricky time with a few candles melting down but I'd say it's probably user error. Looking at purchasing some Christmas scents!
