We had a great tour guide, and it was only my husband and I for the first tour. One other gentleman joined us for the second tour. I recommend that shoes with good tred are worn, because the walking is very wet and slick. It is very dimly lit inside, and a few times, the lights were put out to experience complete darkness. It is very damp at 52 degrees year round. There are some stairs and some steep inclines and declines to consider if you are unstable on your feet. Overall, it was a good experience. - Crystal Marie

Combining natural wonders with a range of recreational activities, Marengo Cave Campgrounds provides a unique getaway for families and adventure seekers alike.

At the heart of this location is, of course, the Marengo Cave itself. According to visitor reviews, the cave offers guided tours, providing an opportunity to explore the underground world. One reviewer highlighted the need for good tread on shoes due to wet and slick walking surfaces within the cave. The dimly lit environment, with occasional moments of complete darkness, adds to the adventurous atmosphere. The consistent cool temperature of 52 degrees Fahrenheit year-round and the damp conditions are important factors to consider when planning your cave tour. Additionally, the presence of stairs and steep inclines/declines suggests that the cave exploration might require a degree of physical stability.

However, Marengo Cave Campgrounds offers much more than just cave tours. Reviews enthusiastically mention a wide array of activities and attractions available on-site. For families with children, there appears to be a significant focus on entertainment. The inclusion of glow-in-the-dark putt-putt adds a whimsical and family-friendly evening activity.

Beyond the adventure activities, Marengo Cave Campgrounds also seems to cater to basic needs and comforts. The availability of a gift shop allows visitors to purchase souvenirs and mementos of their trip. Dining options are also present, with one reviewer specifically mentioning enjoying pizza and stromboli for dinner. This on-site dining can be a convenient alternative to cooking at the campsite, especially after a day full of exploration and activities.
