Jul 06, 2022 · Jeannie FigueroaBeautiful trails and amazing place to nature walk. We saw several small groups (5-6) while on a 2 hour walk today. A bit muddy. We loved it and will return!
Mar 20, 2022 · Mary BFor 3 years since my van conversion into a campervan I have camped here for my birthday on May 31st. I love the campground and the hosts are so friendly. Camping spots are private and at a distance from one another. I like private. You get to meet lots of people on the trails. I have a dog and a camping companion (his second year camping). The park is pet friendly even horses. This year the camp was full, because people cheated the system. It was raining on Wednesday and also on Thursday evening the day I arrived.Because of the rain I didn't expect any to be camping in tents. The camp camp was full.Full of abandoned partially setup tents, tarps and bungee cords. People set them up ahead of the holiday. Some returned a few days later which is so wrong on many levels.I spoke with Steve the camp host and he said they cannot do that and noticed this year its happening a lot.He spoke with the folks when they arrived to tell them they cannot do that. One person used bungee cords and a bunch of 15 inch metal spikes hammered into the ground were the vehicle parks. He used them to hold a tarp down on one corner. The others were just sticking out of the ground about 3 inches. Had to physically dig them out.The camp host remove the bungee cords from the site he gave me and from the handicap spot the guy tried to hold also. Steve told me I could take the spot and I did and almost damaged underneath my van and my rear tire from the metal spikes.Later that evening the guy showed up with ATVs and camper and all his gear. Jumped out of his truck angry and started to approach me. Steve (camp host) saw him and intervened.I am still here loving every moment.
May 31, 2021 · Dr. W KingHorse camping spots, 6 of them , 2 can be reserved. Nice campground , clean and great hosts. Only down side is the Corral's. Strong Corrals, 12 x 12, concrete floor (bring some shaving) not enough Corrals, just one per single site an 2 in the two reservable sites. One trail out of camp over a horse bridge to all the trails in capital forest. Pretty good trails. Also has regular campsites.Water Isa problem bring your own.
Aug 19, 2020 · Fnulnu WinstonCame here for horse camping without a reservation on a Monday. There are 6 spots for horse camping but only two spots have double corrals. These are large sites with manure spots in each camp spot. The trails were nicely groomed and marked well. Except we missed a turn to go to the falls. Trails are rocky in places and I do not recommend it for barefoot horses.
