Olympia Campground & Fuel Introduce
For local users in the Olympia, Washington area searching for "camping near me," Olympia Campground & Fuel, located at 1441 83rd Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98512, presents itself as a potential option. The campground can be contacted at (360) 352-2551 or +1 360-352-2551. To provide an objective introduction, it's essential to consider the experiences shared by recent customers to offer a balanced perspective for those considering this location for their camping needs.
Environment and Setting: The physical environment of Olympia Campground & Fuel, based on customer feedback, appears to be somewhat constrained. Multiple reviewers mention that the sites are small and closely packed together. One guest noted having no space on either side of their RV, and another experienced their neighbor's belongings encroaching on their designated area. This suggests that the campground prioritizes maximizing the number of sites within the given space, potentially leading to a less private and more crowded camping experience compared to other campgrounds in the region. The presence of long-term residents seems to be a significant characteristic of the campground, which could influence the overall atmosphere for short-term visitors.
Services and Amenities: The availability and quality of services at Olympia Campground & Fuel appear to be areas of concern for some short-term visitors. One reviewer who paid for a site with water and power reported a potentially hazardous electrical issue, specifically an open neutral, which was allegedly known to long-term residents and attributed to the entire RV loop being on a 15 amp breaker. This raises questions about the safety and reliability of the electrical hookups for short-term stays. While a camp store or other specific amenities are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, the focus on long-term living situations might indicate that the primary services cater to these residents rather than transient campers.
Features and Suitability for Different Campers: Based on the available reviews, Olympia Campground & Fuel seems to cater significantly to long-term residents. Several reviewers explicitly state that the majority of the good spots are occupied by long-term tenants, and one guest believed they were the only short-term visitor during their stay. This environment might not be ideal for those seeking a traditional short-term camping experience with a strong sense of community among fellow travelers. The small and cramped sites, as well as the reported electrical issues, could be particularly problematic for RV owners needing reliable hookups and adequate space. Tent campers, while not specifically mentioned, would likely also be affected by the limited space and potential lack of privacy.
One reviewer mentioned requesting specific accommodations during reservation that were not met upon arrival, indicating potential issues with reservation accuracy or communication. Another concerning incident involved a stranger approaching a guest in the early hours asking for a bathroom code, raising security concerns for short-term visitors.
Promotional Information and Local Appeal: Given the nature of the recent customer feedback, it is challenging to identify any specific promotional aspects or unique appeals of Olympia Campground & Fuel for short-term campers searching for "camping near me." The reviews highlight potential drawbacks such as cramped sites, possible electrical issues, a dominant long-term resident population, unmet reservation requests, and security concerns. For local users considering this campground, it would be prudent to weigh these experiences carefully against their specific needs and expectations for a camping trip. While the campground's location in Olympia might offer convenient access to local attractions and amenities, the internal environment and services, as described by recent guests, appear to be significant factors to consider.
Objective Summary: Olympia Campground & Fuel in Olympia, WA, appears to function primarily as a long-term living situation with some availability for overnight or short-term parking. Recent customer reviews suggest potential drawbacks for short-term campers, including small and crowded sites, possible electrical safety concerns, a lack of dedicated short-term camping areas, unmet reservation requests, and security issues. While the campground's location might be convenient for those needing to be in the Olympia area, individuals seeking a more traditional and comfortable short-term camping experience might want to explore alternative options for "camping near me" in the region. It is strongly recommended that potential short-term visitors contact the campground directly to inquire about the current conditions, site availability for short stays, and to address any concerns raised in the recent reviews before making a reservation.

Olympia Campground & Fuel Reviews
This campground is definitely a long-term living situation that appears to augment income by providing overnight or short-term parking. One resident reported living here 10 years. We were charged $49 for a spot that allegedly had water and power. My electric power plug, both diagnostic and a surgeprotector, indicated an open neutral. This was confirmed by a long-time resident and was explained that the entire RV loop, of which there were approximately 20 sites, were on a 15 amp breaker to prevent the breakers from tripping. We chose not to use power or water and was told that it was our decision, but they were fairly certain that my RV electric system wouldn't be harmed AND if there was a problem I still had my surge protector and that's what I bought it for. What?Anyway, the sites are kind of sketchy for overnight or short stays, and the majority of the good spots in the park are dedicated to long-term.
Apr 30, 2025 · Mike AdamsI believe I was the only short term guest? I think all the other sites were filled with living tenants. Sites are too small, crammed together. I had no space on either side of my RV. My neighbor couldn’t put her awning out when mine was out. Her plants and belongings took up my tiny grass space in front of my door. She was not happy with me talking at midday, and let me know. Sketchy.I requested specific accommodations when I made the reservation, and at check-in, these were not met. I was approached by a man in early hours asking for bathroom code. Do not recommend for short stay travelers.
Oct 07, 2024 · Christine VanOeverenSpent 10 days in June 2024. This is a great place with WiFi, a clubhouse, laundry room, swimming pool, basketball court, DVD lending library, playground, billiards table, campground store, overnight security, and fantastic community atmosphere! All kinds of camper vehicles welcome. We noticed a couple of schoolies, and rooftop tent campers, as well as tent only sites. The whole place is covered in mature trees and bushes with a comfortable amount of cushion between neighbors. This is not a parking-lot style RV park where you are sandwiched in. Every site has a picnic table and fire ring from what I could tell. Close to town for convenience, yet feel like you're in the woods. Saw wildlife, deer and lots of birds. Heard owls at night. Would definitely stay again.
Jun 27, 2024 · Heidi CerutoLocation is okay but I was not impressed with the customer service. I asked for a partial service site (electricity and/or water), the guy up front said he had 2 sites left with same but wanted to save it for people checking in tomorrow with RV/ motorhome. I said we were only going to be there for the night but desperately needing electricity to plug in our fridge but the guy still ended up giving us a regular tent site which was way too small and could barely fit our rig.
Jul 04, 2024 · Haz JoshStayed here for a few months while my husband was in the area for work. We showed up as strangers…totally lost with no idea where to go. When we left we left with a new family. Everyone was so helpful. They have AWESOME ladies working the store. Campground security is FANTASTIC. Never once did I worry about anything. Loved our full hookup spot and there’s also partial hookups. A tent section for summer camping. And the pool when weather allowed! The bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily and the hot water was to die for. Our daughter made so many friends, with the kids and the adults. Laundry room was open during the day and great prices. I could go on for days about everything I loved here. Gas up front. Propane service. Game room. They even included us in their barbecues. Hands down the BEST location we’ve ever stayed at. We will definitely be back. I can’t say enough good things about everyone there. We have been gone almost two months now and I am homesick to go back and visit. Definitely stop in and stay here if you’re in the area!
