Martin's Camping Ground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Joliet, IL, Martin's Camping Ground, located at 725 Cherry Hill Rd, Joliet, IL 60433, USA, presents itself as a potentially convenient option. Reviews from past visitors offer mixed perspectives, highlighting both positive aspects like helpful staff and convenience, as well as significant concerns regarding the treatment of service animals.
Under the platform category of "camping near me," Martin's Camping Ground is described by one long-term visitor as "Super convenient nice place" that they would "recommend ... to anyone." This reviewer, who stayed for "months at a time," specifically praised "Brenda in the office" as "amazing at what she does" and helpful with any needs, suggesting a positive experience with at least one member of the staff. They also felt it was "Way better than your average campgrounds," indicating some superior qualities.
However, another review paints a starkly different picture, detailing a problematic experience related to a service dog. This reviewer alleged that a staff member, possibly named Maria, "would constantly treat my dog like a pet" despite being shown documentation. They claimed this staff member tried to restrict the service dog from accompanying the reviewer in areas where it was needed to perform services. The situation escalated when the staff member reportedly entered the shower house while the reviewer was showering because their dog was inside, leading to a complaint. The reviewer further stated that a later attempt to make a reservation was declined due to this past experience with their dog.
A third, shorter review mentioned getting along "pretty well" with someone named Saul, noting that they returned equipment, paid on time, and kept their area clean, yet still encountered an unspecified "problem." This suggests that there might be inconsistencies in the overall guest experience.
Considering these contrasting reviews, the environment of Martin's Camping Ground is not explicitly detailed in terms of natural features or layout. However, the positive review suggests it is a "nice place," implying a reasonably maintained and pleasant setting. The convenience mentioned by the long-term guest likely refers to its location in Joliet, potentially offering easy access to local amenities and attractions.
In terms of services, Martin's Camping Ground appears to cater to both short-term and potentially long-term stays, as indicated by the guest who stayed for months. The presence of an office with staff like Brenda suggests check-in services, assistance with needs, and possibly other campground-related services. The mention of a shower house indicates the availability of communal showering facilities. The negative review implies that policies regarding service animals might be in place, and the enforcement of these policies, according to the reviewer, was problematic. The reference to returning equipment in the third review suggests that the campground might offer rentals of some kind.
Features of Martin's Camping Ground that can be gleaned from the reviews include its convenient location, the helpfulness of at least one staff member (Brenda), and the availability of a shower house. However, potential local users with service animals should be aware of the negative experience reported by one reviewer. The fact that a past guest was later declined a reservation due to an issue with their service dog is a significant point to consider. For other campers, the positive feedback regarding convenience and the helpfulness of some staff members might be appealing.

In summary, for local users searching for "camping near me" in Joliet, IL, Martin's Camping Ground offers a convenient location and has received positive feedback regarding some of its staff. However, potential guests, especially those traveling with service animals, should be aware of the serious concerns raised in one review regarding the treatment of service dogs. This discrepancy in experiences suggests that while some guests have had positive stays, others have faced significant issues. Local users should weigh these points when considering Martin's Camping Ground for their camping needs and might want to inquire specifically about their policies regarding service animals if applicable.
For local residents of Joliet and the surrounding areas, Martin's Camping Ground presents a geographically convenient option for camping. The positive remarks about its overall quality and helpful staff from one long-term visitor are encouraging. However, the reported negative experience concerning a service animal is a serious consideration for individuals who rely on them. It would be prudent for potential guests to seek clarification on the campground's policies and approach to service animals before booking a stay. For general inquiries about the campground's amenities and rates, please use the provided phone numbers to contact Martin's Camping Ground directly.

Martin's Camping Ground Reviews
I have stayed at Martins several times now for months at a time and would recommend it to anyone. Super convenient nice place and Brenda in the office is amazing at what she does and will help with anything. Way better than your average campgrounds
Apr 30, 2025 · Jordan BradyThis place had a problem with my service dog, despite having documentation etc the lady who worked behind the counter would constantly treat my dog like a pet. Tried to tell me the dog couldn’t join me in areas to perform services for myself etc. Maria?Either way, last time I was there she came into the shower house WHILE I was showering because my dog was in there with me, obviously! She saw me, or at least part of me showering and had the nerve to pretend like it wasn’t her when I went into the office to complain about it.Years later I called to try to set up a reservation and was declined due to their past experience with my dog.Saul and me got along pretty well, so what was the problem? Returned their equipment, paid on time and in full, kept my area relatively clean.Bullsheet
Jan 30, 2025 · Jeremy MendozaBrenda was very kind to us with great customer service. Recommend your stay here, very quiet and clean park. Easy pull thrus site. Recommend this place 100%, will be back. Thank you Brenda!
Nov 20, 2024 · Minerva De Los ReyesWe had such a great stay! I really am so confused by these other reviews. Me & my girlfriend spent the weekend here as a break from our usual busy lives. The bathrooms were clean, I saw an employee cleaning and mopping the bathrooms then doing propane. The office lady manages the office, cleans the bathrooms and does propane! Greeted us multiple times. We had such an easy check in and check out and everyone was very friendly as well! The entire property was clean and quiet at night, which is important to us. The only critique I would give would be that the park has so much more potential to be a great hangout spot! If we find our way back to Martins Camping Ground we will 10000% stay here again.
Aug 30, 2024 · Jorge AldavaMy stay was here was really great. Brenda was very helpful and smart. Great customer service. Definitely recommending everyone. Will be back again soon. Bathrooms were nice and clean and the park was in top shape. Friendly people and of course the staff.
