McMullen Memorial County Park Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience immersed in the natural beauty of Wisconsin, McMullen Memorial County Park, located at 1703 Atlantic Rd, Warrens, WI 54666, USA, offers a promising destination. Situated in a "beautiful forested area," this county park provides a range of camping options, access to recreational activities like boating on Boggy Lake, and hiking opportunities around the notable Castle Rock. Based on recent customer reviews, the park generally offers a pleasant environment and essential amenities, though potential visitors should be aware of a few considerations.
The environment of McMullen Memorial County Park is a significant draw, with reviewers consistently highlighting the "beautiful forested area" in which it is nestled. This suggests that campers can expect to be surrounded by trees, enjoying shade, a sense of tranquility, and the natural ambiance of a Wisconsin woodland. The presence of "towering pines" at some campsites, such as spot #21, further emphasizes the scenic beauty and the potential for a truly immersive nature experience. The opportunity to walk a "train" (likely a trail) around Castle Rock indicates interesting geological features and varied terrain to explore within the park.
Boggy Lake is another key environmental feature of McMullen Memorial County Park. While one reviewer notes that it is "good for boats but not swimming," this suggests that the lake offers opportunities for water-based recreation, such as kayaking, canoeing, or fishing (though fishing is not explicitly mentioned). The fact that it is described as "boggy" might imply a specific type of ecosystem that could be interesting for nature observation, potentially attracting certain types of wildlife.
McMullen Memorial County Park appears to cater primarily to RV campers, offering "many different style rv spots to choose from." The pricing mentioned in one review is "$25 a night for rv spot w power," providing a specific cost reference for those traveling with recreational vehicles. The availability of power hookups is a significant convenience for RVers, allowing them to utilize their onboard systems. Additionally, the park provides "all the usual amenities like water, trash, showers and dump station," ensuring that campers have access to essential services for a comfortable stay.
Beyond RV camping, the park also offers opportunities for hiking, with specific mention of trails around "Castle Rock." One reviewer described the hike as "short and sweet," suggesting an accessible option for most fitness levels. This provides an opportunity for campers to stretch their legs, enjoy scenic views, and explore the unique geological formations of Castle Rock. The fact that a reviewer mentioned walking a "train" around it implies a well-defined path or trail system.
The positive interaction with park staff is also noteworthy. One reviewer specifically mentioned a host they met on August 1st who was "very nice." Positive and helpful park staff can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
However, the reviews also highlight a couple of potential drawbacks that local users should be aware of. One significant issue reported was the inconsiderate behavior of other campers at a specific site (#20), who had "about 60 strung lights in a very high wattage that they leave on ALL NIGHT!" This excessive and persistent lighting significantly impacted the sleep quality of a neighboring camper, illustrating the importance of respecting campground etiquette and the potential for disruptive fellow visitors. The same site was also associated with a "man" who used a "riding lawn mower he uses to nosily pull around various items on his site and through the park," further detracting from the peacefulness of the environment.
Another practical consideration mentioned is the limited availability of nearby services. The reviewer advises to "Bring everything you need as there are no stores or restaurants nearby other than a gas station." This highlights the importance of being self-sufficient when camping at McMullen Memorial County Park, as there are likely no convenient places to purchase supplies or meals in the immediate vicinity. Campers should plan accordingly and ensure they have all necessary provisions before arriving.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. In conclusion, McMullen Memorial County Park offers a "camping near me" option set in a beautiful forested area with various RV spots and access to Boggy Lake for boating. The park also features hiking trails around Castle Rock, providing opportunities for scenic exploration. Essential amenities such as water, trash disposal, showers, and a dump station are available. While the majority of the experience seems positive, potential visitors should be aware of the potential for inconsiderate fellow campers and the lack of nearby stores and restaurants beyond a gas station. Contacting the park directly via the provided phone numbers is recommended to inquire about reservations, specific site details, and any current promotions to ensure a well-prepared and enjoyable camping trip.

McMullen Memorial County Park Reviews
I walked the train around castle rock today. Can't wait to come back.
Apr 20, 2025 · Kimberly HilgendorfNice park in a beautiful forested area. Boggy lake good for boats but not swimming. The host we met on 8/1 was very nice. Many different style rv spots to choose from. $25 a night for rv spot w power. All the usual amenities like water, trash, showers and dump station. We stayed in spot #21 which was beautiful with towering pines... other than the people at spot #20 have about 60 strung lights in a very high wattage that they leave on ALL NIGHT! Ridiculous!!! Ruined my sleep. Also the man at that site had a riding lawn mower he uses to nosily pull around various items on his site and through the park. Site #20 soured our experience. We hiked around castle rock which was a short and sweet hike. Overall nice place. Bring everything you need as there are no stores or restaurants nearby other than a gas station.
Aug 02, 2023 · Rama DajeIt's a local park I have enjoyed for decades. I climbed Castle Rock with my sons decades ago and now my middle son climbs it with his kids. Very nice walking trails and camping. It's a calm and peaceful place to enjoy nature
Jun 23, 2022 · Sue PergandeGreat place to camp for deer hunting. Unfortunately no luck due to excessive wind. Hope to be back for cranberry fest in sept. Need to talk to park Ranger about holding sites, availability during fest and # of campers for electric hookups.
Nov 21, 2022 · Wayne FleischmannThis place is great...sites are well spaced apart, grounds are clean and we'll maintained, and the people who work here are helpful and friendly. There's a pretty hike around the park as well. This was my first stay but definitely won't be my last!
