Woods Edge Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Tomah, Wisconsin area? Woods Edge Campground, located at 10558 Freedom Rd, Tomah, WI 54660, USA, presents itself as a local option for camping enthusiasts. Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at this campground appear to vary, with some highlighting positive aspects and others noting areas for potential improvement. For local users considering Woods Edge Campground, let's take a closer look at what it has to offer.
Environment: The environment of Woods Edge Campground seems to have both appealing and less desirable aspects based on the provided reviews. One camper who stayed in mid-September 2024 described their site as being "next to the office, in the direct sun, and next to a road that cars rev their engine and don’t obey the speed limit." This suggests that at least some sites might experience noise from traffic and lack shade. The same reviewer also mentioned a train frequently blowing its horn and a dog barking nearby, further contributing to potential noise issues. They were also unimpressed with the advertised "sandy pond," stating they wouldn't let their dog swim in it. This paints a picture where the immediate surroundings of some campsites might not be entirely peaceful or as advertised. However, another reviewer who stayed for two nights and left on July 14th, 2024, described the campground as "Very nice" and "Quiet," which offers a contrasting perspective. This suggests that the level of noise and overall ambiance might depend on the specific campsite location within the grounds. The first reviewer also mentioned a feeling of the area around the campsite being "very redneck with hoarders living down the street," which is a subjective observation about the broader local environment. Conversely, the second reviewer did not mention such concerns. The availability of a sandy pond is advertised, but its suitability for swimming, at least according to one guest, is questionable. Local users seeking "camping near me" should weigh these differing descriptions of the environment.
Services: Information about the specific services at Woods Edge Campground is somewhat limited in the reviews. One positive mention is from the second reviewer who noted, "owner supper Nice." This suggests friendly management. The first reviewer mentioned booking online went well, indicating an online reservation system is in place. They also noted the WiFi signal was "very weak." The second reviewer wished "they sprayed for mosquitoes," implying that mosquitoes might be an issue at certain times. They also mentioned a power outage due to bad storms but noted that it was restored quickly. This suggests the campground has electrical service that can be affected by weather. The first reviewer found the fire pits to be "small and in weird locations" relative to their site. The second reviewer mentioned the "Sites are very Big," which is a significant positive service for many campers. Overall, services appear to include online booking, potentially large sites, and electrical service, with a friendly owner. However, WiFi might be weak, mosquitoes can be present, and fire pit placement could vary. Local users looking for "camping near me" with large sites and a friendly owner might find these services appealing, but should be aware of potential drawbacks like weak WiFi and mosquitoes.
Features: Key features of Woods Edge Campground, based on the reviews, include "very Big" campsites, which provide ample space for campers. The owner is described as "supper Nice," indicating a positive interaction with the management. The campground is described as "Quiet" by one reviewer, which would be a desirable feature for those seeking a peaceful getaway, although another reviewer experienced noise issues depending on their site's location. The presence of a "sandy pond" is advertised, though its quality for swimming is debated. The online booking system offers convenience. Potential drawbacks mentioned include weak WiFi, mosquitoes, small and oddly placed fire pits at some sites, and proximity to road and train noise for certain locations within the campground. One reviewer also mentioned a gopher hole on their site that they had to fill. For local users searching for "camping near me" with spacious sites and a friendly owner, Woods Edge has these features. However, it's important to be aware of the potential for noise, weak WiFi, and the condition of the sandy pond.
Promotional Information: While there isn't explicit promotional material, the statement "Very nice campground. Quiet and owner supper Nice. Sites are very Big We will be back," from one reviewer serves as a positive endorsement. This suggests that many visitors have a pleasant experience, appreciating the spacious sites and friendly management. For local users seeking "camping near me," this positive feedback might be encouraging. However, it's crucial to also consider the less positive experiences shared by another camper regarding site location (sun and noise), the sandy pond, weak WiFi, and fire pit placement. To get a balanced view and the most current information on site availability and any specific promotions, local users are encouraged to contact Woods Edge Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (608) 343-4055 or +1 608-343-4055. When inquiring, it might be helpful to ask about site locations relative to roads and other potential noise sources, as well as the current condition of the sandy pond and WiFi availability. Consider Woods Edge Campground for its large sites and friendly owner, but do your due diligence to ensure it meets your specific preferences for a "camping near me" experience.
In summary, Woods Edge Campground near Tomah, WI, offers the benefit of large campsites and a reportedly very nice owner. One reviewer found it quiet, while another experienced noise depending on the site. The advertised sandy pond's quality is questioned by one guest. WiFi is noted as weak. For local users looking for "camping near me," the positive aspects of site size and owner friendliness are appealing, but potential noise issues and the condition of the pond should be considered.
To make an informed decision about camping at Woods Edge Campground, local residents should call (608) 343-4055 or +1 608-343-4055 to ask specific questions about site availability, noise levels, the sandy pond, WiFi, and any other concerns they might have. This will help you determine if Woods Edge is the right "camping near me" option for your needs. Enjoy your local camping adventures!

Woods Edge Campground Reviews
We are avid campers, and this was our last camping adventure of the 2024 season. We booked online and everything went well. When we pulled up to our site in was next to the office, in the direct sun, and next to a road that cars rev their engine and don’t obey the speed limit. There was also a train that kept going by blowing its horn, and when that wasn’t happening the poor dog chained up down the road would constantly bark. The WiFi signal is very weak. The sandy pond that’s advertised I wouldn’t let my dog swim in it. The area around the campsite felt very redneck with hoarders living down the street. The bar across the street looked inviting, but as we walked in there was only a couple patrons inside all looking at us like we didn’t belong, and no wait staff to even order a beer from. The fire pits were small and in weird locations from our site. Oh I almost forgot to mention when we were setting up the camper there was a gopher hole I had to fill in with a shovel.
Sep 15, 2024 · mustangkileyVery nice campground. Quiet and owner supper Nice. Sites are very Big We will be back. We stayed Two nights I wish they sprayed for mosquitoes otherwise was fun otherwise the Bad Storms We Lost power This morning around 4 o’clock am But they got it back on fast. Thank you! Left home today July 14 th 2024 Believe me we wanted to stay longer.
Jul 14, 2024 · Cheryl GarnerWe stayed overnight on the way to and back from Ontario. The campground is nice but it's geared more for RV's than tents. My only real complaint is that the tent spots are located by the road with no real privacy. And the bar across the street has a full view of the tent area. Luckily it wasn't real busy when we were there. Staff is friendly.
Jul 12, 2024 · Jared NighsongerWe had pull through site number 15, it was perfectly level, easy in and out for big rig located only 6 miles off of interstate 94 near Tomah. Nice quiet campground and happy helpful hosts. Easy booking online.
Aug 28, 2024 · Lisa CrayfordWe are full time RVs and have been in many campgrounds, for context. This was just a quick stop for us on the way to Canada so can't comment on many features like bathrooms, trails, etc... It was a lovely little camp, pleasant, quiet, lots of grass and trees, off the main roads with very little traffic nearby. Full hook up available. Internet available but ours was weak connection that kept dropping but as with many campgrounds, we chose a site out on the periphery and weak internet is common out away from the central area. Internet is not an important feature for us.
