Meacham Lake itself is a significant draw, offering breathtaking views and opportunities for various water-based activities. Imagine waking up to the gentle lapping of waves and the crisp, clean air of the Adirondacks. The "camping near me" platform highlights Meacham Lake Campground as a prime location for those seeking natural beauty and recreational opportunities close to home. The expansive lake invites visitors to indulge in swimming, boating, kayaking, and canoeing, making it a haven for water sports enthusiasts. For those who enjoy angling, the lake is also known for its fishing, providing a chance to catch local fish species.
The environment surrounding Meacham Lake Campground is characterized by lush forests and diverse wildlife, typical of the Adirondack region. This natural setting provides a tranquil backdrop for your camping experience and offers opportunities for hiking and nature walks. Explore the trails around the campground and immerse yourself in the beauty of the local flora and fauna. The changing seasons paint the landscape in different hues, making it a captivating destination year-round.
Meacham Lake Campground offers a variety of services and amenities to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay. While specific details about all services might not be available online, reviews from previous campers offer valuable insights. One reviewer who stayed at family site 81 over Labor Day weekend praised the "beautiful campsite" and noted that the "bathrooms are clean." However, they also mentioned that toilet paper wasn't always consistently stocked, a point to consider when packing. This highlights the importance of being prepared with essential supplies.
The campground accommodates different types of campers. The reviewer at site 81, who was tent camping, advised bringing weights for stakes due to the "rock hard and sandy" ground at their site. This practical tip is invaluable for those planning to pitch tents. The mention of "family site 81" suggests that the campground offers designated family-friendly areas, which could be a significant advantage for those camping with children.
Peace and quiet are often key to a relaxing camping trip, and it's encouraging to note that, according to the review, "people mostly abided by quiet hours and the rules on generators." This indicates a generally respectful and considerate camping community, contributing to a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
A unique and highly appreciated service mentioned in the review is the presence of "a couple who drives around in the evening with plenty of firewood, snacks and ice!" This mobile convenience allows campers to easily replenish essential supplies without having to leave the campground. The reviewer found the price of a "massive firewood bundle for $7" to be reasonable, adding to the overall positive experience.
Another reviewer described Meacham Lake Campground as a "big campground, beautiful lake... It's a good place to stay." This concise feedback reinforces the appeal of the location and the lake as primary attractions.
However, not all experiences were entirely seamless. One camper who booked a "waterfront site online" encountered a significant discrepancy upon arrival. They discovered that their reserved site was in a "wild" part of the campground lacking essential amenities such as "showers, water, and normal restrooms." Furthermore, they had to park their car a "4 min walk away," a crucial detail that was not mentioned on the website. This experience underscores the importance of seeking detailed information about specific campsites when booking online, especially regarding available amenities and parking arrangements.
Fortunately, the reviewer credited the "girl in the office" for her helpfulness in finding another spot with all the necessary amenities. This positive interaction highlights the potential for on-site staff to resolve issues and ensure a better camping experience. Despite this positive resolution, the reviewer noted that "the showers are old and dirty," which led to a four-star rating. This feedback suggests that while the natural setting and some services are commendable, certain facilities might need improvement.
Based on the available information and customer reviews, Meacham Lake Campground offers a compelling camping experience, particularly for those who value a beautiful lakeside environment and a generally peaceful atmosphere. Its features include:
- Stunning Natural Setting: Located in the Adirondacks with direct access to Meacham Lake.
- Water Activities: Opportunities for swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.
- Family-Friendly Environment: Indicated by the mention of "family sites."
- Convenient Services: Mobile firewood, snacks, and ice vendors within the campground.
- Generally Respectful Community: Campers mostly adhere to quiet hours and generator rules.
However, potential visitors should also be aware of the following based on the reviews:
- Varying Amenities by Site: Some "wild" waterfront sites may lack standard amenities like showers, water, and restrooms, with parking located away from the site. It is crucial to inquire about specific site amenities when booking.
- Potentially Inconsistent Restroom Supplies: Toilet paper might not always be readily available in the bathrooms.
- Ground Conditions: Some sites may have hard and sandy ground, requiring sturdy tent stakes or weights.
- Condition of Some Facilities: At least one reviewer found the showers to be "old and dirty."
For local users searching for "camping near me," Meacham Lake Campground presents a significant option. Its location in Malone, NY, makes it accessible for residents in the surrounding areas seeking a quick getaway or a longer vacation in nature. The combination of the beautiful lake, the surrounding wilderness, and the range of camping options makes it an attractive destination.
While specific promotional information is not available in the provided text, it would be beneficial for the campground to address the concerns raised in the reviews, particularly regarding the clarity of campsite descriptions online and the condition of the facilities. Highlighting the positive aspects, such as the lake access, the peaceful environment, and the convenient mobile vendors, could further attract local campers.
To make the most of your visit to Meacham Lake Campground, it is recommended to:
- Book in advance: Especially during peak seasons and for specific types of sites (e.g., waterfront).
- Inquire about campsite amenities: Confirm what is included at your chosen site, especially if booking online.
- Bring essential supplies: Including toilet paper, sturdy tent stakes (if tent camping), and any specific items you might need based on the potential lack of certain amenities at some sites.
- Be prepared for varying ground conditions.
- Respect quiet hours and campground rules to ensure a pleasant experience for all.
In conclusion, Meacham Lake Campground offers a valuable camping experience for locals and visitors alike. Its stunning natural beauty, particularly the lake, and the generally positive atmosphere make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking "camping near me." By being aware of the potential drawbacks highlighted in the reviews and preparing accordingly, you can look forward to a memorable outdoor adventure in the Adirondacks.

Meacham Lake Campground Reviews
Stayed at family site 81 over Labor Day weekend. Beautiful campsite! Bathrooms are clean but not always stocked with toilet paper, the ground at our site was rock hard and sandy so bring weights if you are tent camping for stakes. People mostly abided by quiet hours and the rules on generators. Also there is a couple who drives around in the evening with plenty of firewood, snacks and ice! We got a massive firewood bundle for $7 . Overall I highly recommend!
Sep 02, 2024 · ZahraBig campground, beautiful lake... It's a good place to stay.We booked the waterfront site online in March. When we arrived, we realised that it was a "wild" part of the campground without showers, water, and normal restrooms. Moreover, we had to leave our car in the parking spot 4 min walk away. There was no information on the website about that.. Thank God, the girl in the office helped us to find another spot in the area with all amenities. But anyway, the showers are old and dirty. That's why 4 stars.
Jul 09, 2024 · Secrets Of Beauty StudioMy daughter stayed here in October 2024 and said that she had an amazing time. Leaves changing and Campground was beautiful. Showers left a little bit to desire. Were Luke warm at best. That's how I always remember showers being in campgrounds though. Who goes camping for the showers?! An experience she won't forget. That's what matters. A+
Oct 08, 2024 · Lara OakThe RV side of the lake is SO noisy, it made tent camping miserable. The tent side of the lake is so poorly maintained, no functioning bathroom, and good luck if you fall on your hike. The lake is beautiful, the forest is beautiful, but the grounds and campsites are so outdated and in such poor condition that I don't feel that it is at all worth going back.
Aug 23, 2023 · B. BédardLovely campsite. We didn't have any campers across the road, so that was a plus!! Was close to a water source and bathrooms. The beach/showers/ playground wasn't very far either. Lots of ppl biking around the paved roads. No bear problems, like Limekiln lake and there are piles of hiking to do within a half hour. Warning.. the places to get campfire wood were scarce.
