As a featured option within the "camping near me" category, Mill Creek Campground stands out for its unique environment. Imagine waking up surrounded by majestic redwood trees, their towering canopies creating a sense of awe and tranquility. The lush greenery that blankets the campground provides a refreshing and immersive natural experience. According to visitor reviews, the campground is teeming with local wildlife, including the charming Banana Slugs, a favorite among many visitors, and graceful deer that often make appearances, adding a touch of magic to your stay.
Mill Creek Campground offers a range of services designed to ensure a comfortable and convenient camping experience. While specific details about all available amenities might require checking the official channels, user reviews highlight several key features. Camp hosts are often present and provide valuable assistance, including selling firewood for a nominal fee, as mentioned in one review. This convenience allows you to easily enjoy a cozy campfire under the stars. Furthermore, the campground boasts well-maintained facilities, with reviewers specifically praising the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the availability of hot showers – a welcome amenity after a day of exploring the natural surroundings.
The features of Mill Creek Campground extend beyond its stunning natural setting and essential services. The privacy offered by individual campsites is a significant draw for many campers. One reviewer specifically mentioned campsite 29 as being private and perfectly suited for a large, six-person tent, suggesting that various campsites cater to different group sizes and preferences. The overall ambiance of the campground, enveloped by the redwood forest, creates a sense of seclusion and peace, allowing you to truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature.
However, recent feedback also indicates a potential area of concern for prospective visitors. According to a long-time camper, the online reservation system has been experiencing issues, with the website reportedly not functioning for reservations in the past year. The website message suggests checking back in mid-June, which the reviewer points out might be too late for planning summer camping trips and securing time off work. This situation raises questions about the current reservation process and whether alternative methods, such as phone inquiries or a return to a first-come, first-served system, are in place. It is strongly recommended that potential visitors actively seek the most up-to-date information regarding reservations through official channels or by contacting the relevant authorities directly to avoid disappointment.
While promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews, the overwhelmingly positive experiences shared by visitors serve as a testament to the campground's appeal. The combination of a breathtaking natural environment, essential services like clean bathrooms and hot showers, and the unique charm of encountering local wildlife such as Banana Slugs and deer makes Mill Creek Campground a highly desirable destination for those seeking "camping near me" in California. The mention of private campsites further enhances its attractiveness, catering to individuals, families, and small groups looking for a secluded outdoor experience.
In summary, Mill Creek Campground offers a remarkable camping experience within a stunning redwood forest in California. Its picturesque environment, coupled with essential services and the chance to observe local wildlife, makes it a compelling choice for nature lovers. However, prospective visitors should be aware of potential issues with the online reservation system and are advised to seek current information through official channels to ensure a smooth and enjoyable camping trip. Despite the reservation concerns, the positive reviews highlight the enduring appeal and natural beauty of Mill Creek Campground, making it a worthwhile destination to consider for your next camping adventure in the "camping near me" category.

Mill Creek Campground Reviews
We had a great time at this campground. It’s completely covered with beautiful redwoods and greenery. Each morning we were greeted by Banana Slugs which was my personal favorite. There was also deer. We had campsite 29 which was private and perfect for 1, 6 person tent. The camp host sell wood for 10 bucks. Bathrooms were very clean and showers were hot.
Jul 19, 2021 · Madelyne AhrensWhat is going on with this campground? We've been camping here for over 40 years. The website for making reservations is not working. Missed going for the first time ever last year. Is it closed? It was open the year before. The website still says check back in mid June. By then it will be too late to make reservations or get planned time off of work. Who do you call or is it back to 1st come 1st serve?
Feb 24, 2024 · YANKEE DOODLEWe had a nice time overall. But our neighbors in the campground next to us ( the one just before the walk in foot bridge to the secluded camp ) Friday night Aug 3rd from 8p til at least 1:30am was talking loudly ,smoking pot & keeping us awake cuz of the loud talking & laughing. Plus the secluded camp site over the bridge didn't not occupy the camp site until way after the 24hrs that they are supposed to be occupying it. They didn't show up til around 9pm after the 24hrs required occupied time.
Aug 04, 2018 · Roxanne DeweyThis site is lovely, but the rangers checking us in were the rudest I have ever met in my life. We arrived 10 minutes early to check in and we were told we couldn’t check in till 2, then when we pulled into the parking lot to wait we were told we couldn’t wait in the parking lot. Then after making the 10 minute drive up and 10 minute drive back we were told “you aren’t allowed to check in yet because you broke the rules and are BAD we will check in everyone else in line first because they followed the rules” they then told us to park in the parking lot to wait. which confused us all greatly, we have camped here many times in the past and never had anything like this happen. We were very polite and genuinely didn’t know it was so bad to show up early. We felt very disrespected and doubt we will be going back after ranger Christy and their “supervisor” who refused to give us her name (an older woman with long gray braids) treated us so poorly with really no explanation aside from being slightly early.
Jul 08, 2019 · Harmony MOnly problem was the wind. But then, we can't control the wind. As awesome as I remember. Saw geese with babies and a duck with babies. Caught twelve trout. Yum! And saw a pair of Osprey.
