Kingfisher Group Camp Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" that can accommodate a group? Consider Kingfisher Group Camp, located in Milo McIver State Park near Estacada, Oregon (address: S Entrance Rd, Estacada, OR 97023, USA). Based on customer reviews, this group campsite offers a spacious and somewhat secluded experience, making it a potentially excellent choice for larger gatherings looking to enjoy the outdoors together.
The environment of Kingfisher Group Camp is noteworthy. One reviewer, who considers it a favorite group campsite near Portland, highlights its spaciousness and its location overlooking the scenic Clackamas River and along the Vortex Trail. This suggests a beautiful natural setting with potential for river views and access to hiking trails. The mention of being "not near any other campsites" indicates a degree of privacy and seclusion, which can be highly desirable for groups wanting to enjoy their time without the immediate proximity of other campers. However, another reviewer mentioned "lots of shade," which could be a positive for staying cool during warmer months.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some specific details. One significant advantage mentioned is the presence of two flush toilets at the group site, which is often a welcome amenity for group camping. However, it's important to note that there are no power outlets at the site, so groups needing electricity will need to plan accordingly. The campground is part of the larger Milo McIver State Park, which is described as a "huge park," implying access to the park's broader amenities, although these are not detailed in the context of the group camp itself. Water access to the Clackamas River is mentioned, but it's described as a "treacherous decent down to the bank." This suggests that while the river is accessible, it might not be easy or safe for everyone to get down to the water's edge. Despite the challenging river access, the reviewer noted that the "float and float options are good," indicating that the river is suitable for water-based recreational activities like floating or tubing, once you manage to get to the water.
A less positive aspect mentioned by one reviewer was the presence of a significant number of yellow jackets ("8,000,000 yellow jackets"). While this might have been a temporary issue or perceived exaggeration, it's something to be aware of, especially if anyone in your group has allergies or a strong aversion to stinging insects. It might be worth inquiring about current conditions if you are considering a visit.
Regarding promotional information, there aren't specific deals or offers mentioned in the reviews. However, the positive aspects highlighted, such as the spaciousness, the overlooking view of the Clackamas River, the proximity to the Vortex Trail, the seclusion from other campsites, and the presence of flush toilets, serve as inherent attractions for groups looking for "camping near me." The reviewer hoping to find a cancellation for a return visit further underscores the appeal of this group campsite.
For local users in the Portland and Estacada areas seeking a group camping experience, Kingfisher Group Camp in Milo McIver State Park appears to offer a compelling combination of space, scenic views, and relative seclusion. The presence of flush toilets is a notable convenience for group camping. However, potential campers should be mindful of the lack of power outlets and the reported difficulty in accessing the riverbank. The comment about yellow jackets is also something to keep in mind.
To get the most out of a stay at Kingfisher Group Camp, groups should come prepared for a site without power and be cautious when attempting to access the Clackamas River. Bringing appropriate gear for river floating could be a great way to enjoy the water, given the positive mention of "float and float options." Exploring the Vortex Trail, easily accessible from the campsite, would also be a recommended activity, given the scenic environment.
In conclusion, if you're looking for "camping near me" that caters to groups and offers a spacious, scenic, and relatively secluded setting along the Clackamas River, Kingfisher Group Camp in Milo McIver State Park is a strong contender. While there are a few caveats to consider, such as the lack of power and the challenging river access, the overall experience seems to be positive for those seeking a group outdoor getaway. Local users planning a group camping trip near Portland should definitely consider Kingfisher Group Camp.

Kingfisher Group Camp Reviews
One of our favorite group campsites near Portland is the Kingfisher Group Camp in Milo McIver State Park. This group site is very spacious that overlooks the Clackamas River and along the Vortex Trail. The site is not near any other campsites and is nice and secluded. As an added bonus there are two flush toilets but there are no power outlets. Hope to find a cancellation later this summer for a return visit!
May 14, 2023 · D.J. Paul8,000,000 yellow jackets. Lots of shade. Clean facilities, huge park, water access is a treacherous decent down to the bank. Riverbed is a muther to walk on, but the float and float options are good. A lazy ride(s).
Aug 10, 2018 · Mark KellyIf you want a quiet more secluded group camp, this is for you. There are no toys or playground for small children. Nice flush toilets. One electrical outlet.
Oct 13, 2018 · Duane P.My sister-in-law had her wedding here! It was the best place for a wedding. So beautiful and we had over 25 campers with us. It was so much fun.
Jul 04, 2018 · Karin OlsenThis is a nice camp for a modest size group, and it's close to the disc golf course! It's right on the Cliff's Edge Trail, which is beautiful.
