For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines diverse recreational opportunities with the beauty of the Oregon landscape, Milo McIver State Park Campground, located at 7JWW+R5, Estacada, OR 97023, USA, offers a compelling destination. Situated within the expansive Milo McIver State Park, this campground provides access to a wealth of outdoor activities, including lake recreation, extensive trail systems for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. You can reach the campground reservation line at (800) 551-6949 or +1 800-551-6949 for booking information and inquiries.
According to visitor feedback, the campground itself is generally considered "nice and clean," which is a significant factor for many when choosing a "camping near me" location. This positive assessment of cleanliness contributes to a more enjoyable and comfortable outdoor experience. However, it's important to note that some reviewers have found the individual campsites to be "small and packed together," which might be a consideration for those seeking more spacious and private accommodations. Additionally, the campground is described as being "all in the trees," resulting in "very little sunlight available" within the campsites. This could be a benefit on hot summer days, providing ample shade, but might be less desirable for those who prefer sunnier camping spots.
One specific detail regarding the group campsites is that they are designated as "tent only." This is crucial information for groups planning a camping trip, as it indicates that RVs or other types of camping vehicles are not permitted in these designated areas. Groups should take this restriction into account when making their reservations and planning their equipment.
A significant advantage of Milo McIver State Park Campground is its convenient access to various park amenities. The campground is within "walking distance to the dock," providing easy opportunities for lake activities such as boating, fishing, or simply enjoying the waterfront. Furthermore, while the fish hatchery is also within walking distance, reviewers suggest that it might be "easier to just hop in the car and shoot over there," indicating that while accessible on foot, a short drive might be more convenient. The proximity to these attractions adds to the overall appeal of the campground for those looking to engage in diverse activities during their "camping near me" getaway.
Beyond the immediate campground area, Milo McIver State Park itself is described as "large" and boasting "many great trails." This is a major highlight for outdoor enthusiasts. The park offers a variety of trail types, including "horse friendly trails, hiking, and bike trails," catering to a wide range of interests and activity levels. Whether you enjoy a leisurely stroll through nature, a challenging hike, an invigorating bike ride, or exploring the park on horseback, Milo McIver State Park provides ample opportunities to do so. This extensive trail system significantly enhances the overall value of choosing Milo McIver State Park Campground for your "camping near me" experience.
Regarding the individual camping spots, one reviewer noted that they are "fairly private and nicely spaced." This contradicts the earlier comment about campsites being "small and packed together," suggesting a potential variation in site layout or individual perceptions. To gain a clearer understanding, the reviewer highly recommends "checking out the camping area in person if you wish to camp in an RV." This is particularly important for RV owners, as the reviewer points out that "some spots will be difficult or too small if your RV if longer than 15 feet." This crucial piece of advice underscores the need for RVers to either visit the park beforehand or to inquire specifically about site dimensions and accessibility when making reservations to ensure a suitable fit for their vehicle.
In summary, Milo McIver State Park Campground offers a "nice and clean" basecamp within a large state park brimming with recreational opportunities. Its proximity to a lake and a diverse trail system catering to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders makes it an attractive "camping near me" option for outdoor enthusiasts. While some campsites may be small and shaded, others are reported to be fairly private and nicely spaced. RV owners, in particular, should be aware of potential size limitations for some sites and are advised to check site suitability in advance. The tent-only designation for group campsites is also an important consideration for larger parties.

Milo Mclver State Park Campground Reviews
Campground itself is nice and clean but spaces are small and packed together. It’s all in the trees too so very little sunlight available. The group campsites are tent only. Walking distance to the dock and you could walk to the hatchery but it would be easier to just hop in the car and shoot over there. All in all, not my first choice for a campsite unless you are primarily going to hit the lake
Mar 30, 2025 · Adam WengronowitzThe park is large and has many great trails. Park offers horse friendly trails , hiking, and bike trails. The camping spots are fairly private and nicely spaced. I highly recommend checking out the camping area in person if you wish to camp in an RV. Some spots will be difficult or too small if your RV if longer than 15 feet.
Nov 09, 2023 · Alexzandrah ClineA very nice place to fish and kayak. The only thing I didn't like was a couple with kid brought out their SUP's near us, camped out on the rocks in the river smoking pot.
Sep 15, 2024 · Stephen HarrimanBeautiful campground and roomy enough for a 6 person tent, it was full when we went but it wasn’t loud nor crowded feeling. Great hikes around the area.
Apr 09, 2024 · Amany LoulouThis is an absolutely amazing park. Lush forest, beautiful river. Five-stars for the park, hands-down. The actual campground sites however, are currently not worth staying in. They do have amazing restrooms and showers, but it doesn’t make up for the noise issues currently. The campground hosts (Freddy & Kim) spend all day blowing pine needles around with a loud, very high pitched leaf blower. I could seriously upload hours of video of it being made impossible to enjoy being out here. You can’t think, you can’t read, you can’t nap…you’re seriously better off pitching a tent in a backyard in the city and then hiring someone to mow the grass around you while you’re in the tent. It will save you time/money and you will have the same experience. Just turn up the videos I posted…now imagine that for literally hours at a time from 10am-4pm.They also drive around the grounds in a loud, diesel off-road buggy when there is a quiet, electric golf cart available. The consideration just isn’t there, and the hosts have been much more disruptive than any of the other campers have, combined.I’m unsure yet if there is a way to determine who is hosting a park, but I will not be able to stay at any more campgrounds hosted by the current hosts. This is two weeks now that have been ruined by their obsessive need to use loud devices and vehicles. I totally admire the fastidiousness and desire to maintain a clean area, but it just isn’t tolerable if you are trying/paying to camp and be in nature. There also seems to be some construction and/or quarry work in the distance that can be heard all day…trucks beeping constantly. But it is substantially more tolerable than the constant leaf blowing stuff. Best of luck when staying here…hopefully your experience will be better.
