Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" with breathtaking oceanfront views in Maine? Consider Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls, located at 670 Reach Rd, Brooklin, ME 04616, USA. You can reach them by phone at (207) 359-5555 or their mobile number, +1 207-359-5555. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this campground offers a well-thought-out, clean, and pleasant camping experience right on the ocean, complemented by a wonderful host, Lori.
Brooklin, Maine, is a charming coastal town on the Blue Hill Peninsula, known for its scenic beauty, maritime heritage, and tranquil atmosphere. Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls lives up to its name, providing campers with direct access to the ocean. The environment here is likely characterized by rocky shorelines, the sounds of the waves, and stunning views, especially of the sunsets, which were specifically highlighted by a reviewer. This location offers a quintessential Maine coastal experience, perfect for those seeking a serene and picturesque camping setting.
The owner and host, Lori, consistently receives high praise in the reviews. One guest described her as "wonderful" and "so warm and friendly," indicating that her hospitality plays a significant role in the positive experiences of campers. Another visitor from Arizona felt incredibly comfortable thanks to Lori's efforts, noting that she went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Such personal and attentive service can greatly enhance a camping trip, making guests feel welcomed and cared for.
In terms of campsite amenities, the campground offers electric hookups at the sites, which is a convenient feature for many campers. It's noted that there are no full hookups (no sewer or water connections at each site), so RVers should plan accordingly. The restrooms are described as "clean and pleasant outhouse type restrooms" located throughout the campground. While not traditional flush toilets, the emphasis on cleanliness suggests they are well-maintained and comfortable for this type of facility.
A unique and helpful feature mentioned is the industrial, stainless steel sink located at the office, which is available for campers to use for washing dishes. This thoughtful amenity adds convenience, especially for longer stays where dishwashing is a regular necessity. Perhaps one of the most memorable features is one of the three showers, which is "open to the stars!" This sounds like a truly special experience, allowing guests to shower while enjoying the natural surroundings and the open sky. The campground also intentionally avoids glaring lights, contributing to a more natural and peaceful nighttime environment.
The ocean area is a major draw, with one reviewer stating that having the "beautiful ocean right out your back door" was a highlight. This direct access allows for various coastal activities, whether it's exploring the shoreline, enjoying the views, or simply relaxing by the water. The sunsets are also noted as being particularly beautiful, offering a stunning visual treat for campers.
For those considering using Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls as a base for visiting Acadia National Park, it's important to note that it is about an hour's drive away, possibly longer with traffic. While this might seem a bit distant, one reviewer who made the trip twice during their week-long stay felt that the quiet and beauty of Reach Knolls were worth the extra travel time. This suggests that the peaceful and scenic nature of the campground offers a welcome contrast to the potentially busier areas around Acadia.
The area around Brooklin also offers its own attractions, including hiking trails. Lori, the host, provides a "great map available which points them out as well as other things to do." One reviewer mentioned doing the Quarry hike in Stonington and the Harriman Trail, indicating that there are worthwhile local hiking opportunities. This local knowledge and the provision of a helpful map are valuable services offered by the campground.
One particularly enthusiastic reviewer from Arizona stated they would "drive 3500 miles just to come back," emphasizing how much they enjoyed their experience. They also mentioned the availability of fresh lobsters, suggesting that the campground might offer or facilitate access to local seafood, a true Maine delicacy.
In summary, Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls offers a premier "camping near me" experience for those seeking a coastal Maine getaway. Its well-maintained sites, clean facilities (including unique outdoor showers), and the exceptional hospitality of the owner, Lori, make it a standout destination. The direct ocean access and beautiful sunsets provide a stunning natural backdrop, while the availability of electric hookups adds convenience. While it's about an hour from Acadia, its tranquility and local hiking opportunities make it a worthwhile destination in its own right. For local users looking for a peaceful and scenic oceanfront camping experience with a personal touch, Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls in Brooklin, ME, comes highly recommended. Don't hesitate to call them at (207) 359-5555 to book your unforgettable coastal camping adventure.

Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls Reviews
Adored staying here! Had a beautiful week. Well thought out campground, clean and pleasant! The host and owner, Lori was wonderful and so warm and friendly. Electric at sites, no full hook ups, but clean and pleasant outhouse type restrooms through out the campground. The industrial, stainless steel sink at the office was really helpful for dishes. My personal favorite was the one of three showers that was open to the stars! No glaring lights shining on you throughout the campground. And then the ocean area and the sunsets! One of my favorite stays! If you are using this campground as a base for Acadia, it is about an hour trip more if a lot of traffic. We traveled there twice in the week. A little long, but you will appreciate this quiet campground. There is hiking in the area and Lori has a great map available which points them out as well as other things to do. We did the Quarry hike in Stonington and also the Harriman Trail.
Oct 02, 2024 · Kim SchodlatzLori made an incredible experience from us Arizonians. My father and I traveled from Phoenix and I have no clue how we found this gem. Lori was up to the task to make us feel comfortable and made sure everything was further than perfect. Even had fresh lobsters with anything you will need. Would drive 3500 miles just to come back. Well maintained sites, nice outdoor (indoor too) showers and a beautiful ocean right out your back door. DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK!
Jul 24, 2024 · William WallaceRV and tenting camping sites. We'll kept grounds and bath houses. Beautiful Maine style beach area, great for rock hounding and sea glass hunting. Nice dock to swim out to, ah-mazing views. Very dog friendly too! Fabulous owners, Lori is very accommodating, super sweet and helpful. We had site 15, private with fire pit and picnic table. I Highly recommend this campground.
