This was an amazing experience. We stayed right on the water and were simultaneously tucked away in the trees with some pretty rock wall. There was heated water for showers 🥹. Also took a quick dip in the water for a cold plunge. The check in was super easy after hours and the staff at the office were super kind! Definitely would recommend. The photos I added were the view from our camp site. We stayed at Tally Ho.The mid service rating is average for the whole island, don’t not choose this place because of the service. - Deanna Crawford

HTR Acadia Campground Introduce

Looking for an unforgettable "camping near me" experience in the breathtaking surroundings of Mount Desert, Maine? HTR Acadia Campground offers a unique opportunity to camp right on the water, nestled amongst the trees and alongside picturesque rock walls. Situated in close proximity to Acadia National Park, this campground promises a blend of natural beauty and convenient access to outdoor adventures. However, recent customer reviews highlight both the exceptional aspects and potential drawbacks of a stay at HTR Acadia Campground, which local users should carefully consider.

One of the most compelling features of HTR Acadia Campground, as lauded by a recent visitor, is the stunning environment of its campsites. The experience of camping "right on the water" while simultaneously feeling "tucked away in the trees with some pretty rock wall" suggests a unique and immersive natural setting. Waking up to waterfront views and the tranquility of the surrounding woods can create a truly memorable camping experience. The provided photos from a campsite named "Tally Ho" further attest to the scenic beauty offered at least by some of the locations within the campground.

In terms of amenities, HTR Acadia Campground offers a notable comfort: heated water for showers. This is a significant upgrade from more primitive camping options and is likely to be highly appreciated by campers, especially during cooler evenings or after a day of hiking and outdoor activities. The availability of heated showers adds a touch of convenience and luxury to the camping experience, enhancing overall comfort.

For the adventurous, one reviewer mentioned taking a "quick dip in the water for a cold plunge," indicating direct access to a body of water suitable for swimming or at least a refreshing dip. This feature would be particularly appealing to those who enjoy water activities and want to fully immerse themselves in the natural environment surrounding the campground.

The check-in process at HTR Acadia Campground appears to be efficient, with one guest noting a "super easy after hours" check-in. Additionally, positive feedback was given regarding the office staff, who were described as "super kind." Friendly and efficient staff can significantly contribute to a positive arrival experience and set the tone for a pleasant stay.

However, a crucial aspect highlighted in another detailed review raises a significant concern for potential visitors. This review reported "LOUD construction going RIGHT NEXT TO OUR SITES - starting before 7am and lasting all day." The reviewer emphasized that this disruptive construction noise severely impacted their ability to relax at their campsite, which was the primary reason for choosing a waterfront location. The noise was described as pervasive throughout the entire campground, forcing them and others in their party to leave their sites early each day to escape the disturbance. Notably, the construction was reportedly occurring "within 20 feet next to the newlyweds" in their group, significantly affecting their post-wedding relaxation.

While the reviewer acknowledged that "the location and the campgrounds were great," the inability to enjoy any rest or relaxation due to the incessant construction noise was a major drawback. Despite speaking to the workers, no resolution was offered. This experience underscores the critical importance for potential guests to inquire about any ongoing or planned construction or maintenance work before booking a site at HTR Acadia Campground. The reviewer explicitly advised future guests to "Make SURE to ask about any 'construction' or 'work' being done to the campground BEFORE booking a site/sites there."

Another brief review offered a somewhat ambiguous comment regarding service, stating that a "mid service rating is average for the whole island" and advising not to avoid this place solely because of the service. This suggests that while the service might not be exceptional, it is perhaps comparable to other establishments in the area and should not be the primary deterrent if other aspects of the campground are appealing. However, combined with the negative experience of the first reviewer regarding the initial office interaction (though later offset by the helpful camp coordinator), it suggests that service experiences may vary.

In conclusion, HTR Acadia Campground boasts a stunning natural environment with waterfront campsites nestled amongst trees and rock formations, offering a unique and picturesque "camping near me" experience in Mount Desert. The availability of heated showers and potential water access are notable amenities. However, recent, significant issues with loud and disruptive construction noise starting early in the morning present a serious concern for potential guests seeking a relaxing stay. While some staff members are reported to be kind and helpful, experiences may vary. Therefore, local users considering HTR Acadia Campground should prioritize contacting the campground directly to inquire about any scheduled construction or maintenance that might impact their stay. While the location and natural beauty are undeniable, the potential for significant noise disruption needs to be carefully weighed before booking.
