Mt Desert Narrows Campground Introduce
Are you searching for the perfect camping experience in the "camping near me" category? Look no further than Mt Desert Narrows Campground, nestled at 1219 ME-3, Bar Harbor, ME 04609, USA. Situated in a prime location, this campground offers local users the opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of coastal Maine. You can reach them by phone at (207) 288-8106 or mobile at +1 207-288-8106.
One of the standout features of Mt Desert Narrows Campground, as highlighted by visitor feedback, is its exceptional waterfront location. Imagine waking up to picturesque views right from your campsite. The proximity to the water offers a unique camping ambiance, allowing you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Maine coast. This aspect alone makes it a compelling choice for those seeking a scenic getaway within the "camping near me" category.
However, it's important to consider all aspects of the campground based on recent guest experiences. Some visitors have reported discrepancies regarding site hook-ups. While reservations might confirm a full hook-up site, availability upon arrival could differ. It's advisable for local users to double-check and clarify the specific hook-up situation for their chosen site prior to arrival to avoid any inconvenience. Understanding the availability of full hook-ups is crucial for RV travelers looking for seamless connectivity during their stay.
In instances where the initially assigned site did not have full hook-ups, the campground staff reportedly attempted to relocate guests to waterfront sites. While the waterfront views are undoubtedly appealing, these alternative sites might also lack full hook-ups. This situation could present challenges for guests who rely on these amenities for the comfort and functionality of their RVs, particularly for longer stays. The need to move an RV to a dump station mid-stay, as mentioned in a review, is an important consideration for potential visitors.
Furthermore, recent feedback indicates that the campground experienced some infrastructure issues during certain periods. Specifically, sewage work being conducted on the property led to unpleasant odors in some of the waterfront camping areas for a couple of days. Local users planning a visit should be aware that such maintenance activities, while necessary, could potentially impact the overall camping experience depending on the timing and location of their site.
The responsiveness and helpfulness of the staff have also been areas of concern for some guests. Reports suggest difficulties in reaching the campground by phone, with delayed call-backs. Additionally, some visitors felt that the staff did not adequately address the issues they encountered during their stay, despite being polite. For local users who value proactive customer service and issue resolution, this is a factor to keep in mind when considering Mt Desert Narrows Campground.
On a more positive note, some reviewers found the individual campsites to be nice, although they noted that the sites can be close together. This suggests a varying experience depending on the specific location within the campground. It might be beneficial for local campers to inquire about site layouts and spacing when making reservations to ensure a comfortable level of privacy.
Amenities such as showers received mixed feedback, with some guests finding them hot and satisfactory, while others experienced issues with older shower heads. It's advisable to check the condition of facilities upon arrival. The bathrooms, however, were generally reported to be clean, indicating a consistent effort in maintaining hygiene standards throughout the campground.
A notable positive aspect mentioned by visitors is the peaceful atmosphere at night, with quiet hours being generally observed by campers. This can contribute to a restful and enjoyable camping experience for those seeking tranquility. The overall maintenance of the campground was also acknowledged, suggesting that the grounds are generally well-kept.
In summary, Mt Desert Narrows Campground offers a compelling draw with its prime waterfront location and potential for scenic views, making it an attractive option within the "camping near me" category for local users seeking a coastal camping experience. The campground appears to maintain cleanliness and enforces quiet hours, contributing to a generally well-kept and peaceful environment.
However, potential visitors should be aware of reported inconsistencies regarding site hook-ups and the possibility of maintenance activities impacting the camping experience. It is highly recommended that local users proactively communicate with the campground regarding site specifics and any ongoing maintenance schedules prior to their visit. While some guests have expressed concerns about staff responsiveness, others have found the basic amenities and overall maintenance to be satisfactory.
For local campers in the "camping near me" search, Mt Desert Narrows Campground presents a location with significant natural appeal. By being informed about the potential challenges and focusing on clear communication with the campground management, you can better prepare for your stay and maximize your enjoyment of the beautiful surroundings. Consider this information carefully when making your camping plans in the Bar Harbor area.

Mt Desert Narrows Campground Reviews
Great location, as they are located right on the water. Nice views. We asked and received confirmation that we were getting a full hook-up site, to be surprised at arrival that they only had a few full hook-ups, and we did not make the cut. We were there for 4 night, and arrived with full tanks. They did attempt to make it better by moving us near the water, however, those sites were also NOT full hook-up.You can't expect guests to unhook halfway through their stay, tow their RV to the dump station and then reconnect (we had to).Further.... There was some type of sewage work being done while we were there, and our site was downwind from this mess. For two days we had raw sewage smell permeating though the sites by the water. The staff was not helpful with any of the issues we brought to them. Mind you, they did smiled while telling us they had no help, and they did say "sorry". End of the day, they ruined what could have been a perfectly good vacation to Bar Harbor.Rest assure we will not be back (not that they care one bit). This is no way to run a "hospitality" business.
Sep 30, 2024 · Angel SorianoWe called them days leading up to our stay, every day. We wouldn’t get a call back until the next day. No one ever answered the phone. The sites were nice but close together. I think the sites here are hit or miss. Showers were hot except for the older ones (check shower head).People did tend to stay quiet come 10PM.Bathrooms were clean. Overall the campground is maintained.
Aug 22, 2024 · Review FWe enjoyed our time at Mt Desert Narrows Campground. Our site was just across the street from the waterfront sites so we had great views. These sites seem to be a bit wider than some of the others. From reservation to check in, to our departure the staff were wonderful. It's obvious that they love and take pride in this campground. There is a food trailer that appears to stay there near the office and recreation building. The bath houses were very clean even at different times during our stay and with a lot of sites full and a large group of tent campers in a separate area.It was quiet and peaceful.Very convenient to many restaurants and lobster shacks.Acadia and Bar Harbor are just down the road. There are some local shops, gas stations and grocery stores nearby and Walmart and Home Depot are not too far away but far enough that you can easily forget about the bustle that comes with towns large enough to have those stores. We look forward to staying here again.
Aug 08, 2024 · George KnightThis is my opinion and should be taken as such. This was our first time staying here. The surrounding area was pretty stellar. Acadia, Bar Harbor and all the other touristy things to do.The campground was ok. The sites on the water have pretty great views, but they are tiny. Not really a lot of acreage. The campground itself seems to be in need of some attending to. The heated pool was pretty niceThe staff was pleasant, the store was nice. I would probably visit elsewhere if we came back. Middle of the road campground.
Sep 23, 2024 · Jody BatesAll in all, it's just mediocre. Paying a lot of money for not a lot. I stayed at one of the tent sites, there are no bathrooms for the tent sites. The closest bath house was near the entrance as the second one was closed. The open one was very dirty. Pretty sure I spent $60 for no electric, no water, but I did have a view. I noticed that the RV sites are pretty much on top of eachother. Honestly, I wouldn't do it again.
