For local users seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience on the coast of Maine, with convenient access to the wonders of Acadia National Park, Seawall Campground in Southwest Harbor offers an appealing retreat. You can reach them for inquiries or reservations by calling (207) 244-3600 or their mobile number +1 207-244-3600.
The environment surrounding Seawall Campground is characterized by the scenic beauty of Southwest Harbor, a quieter area on Mount Desert Island, away from the more crowded sections of Acadia National Park. This location offers a sense of peacefulness and immersion in nature, with the added benefit of being close to the coast. One reviewer noted that it "feels like a quieter area away from the park's crowds," making it an attractive option for those seeking a more serene camping experience. The proximity to the ocean is also a significant feature, with another visitor mentioning that "You can even hear the ocean at night," enhancing the tranquil ambiance of the campground.
Seawall Campground caters to both tent and RV campers. For those interested in "tent camping near me," the campground offers "simple but sufficient" plots. These tent sites are equipped with essential amenities for a comfortable outdoor stay, including "a picnic bench and fire pit." The presence of "plenty of tree cover" is a significant advantage, providing shade during warmer days and protection from potential "coastal winds and rains," ensuring a more comfortable and sheltered camping experience. While some tent sites may involve "a little walk from the carpark," ample parking is generally available.
For RV enthusiasts looking for "RV camping near me" in the Acadia region, Seawall Campground also provides suitable sites. One reviewer mentioned being located "by the RVs in the back of area D," indicating designated areas for recreational vehicles. While this reviewer noted that "you can sometimes hear their generators," they still considered the campground a "great campsite overall." This suggests that while there might be some ambient noise from RV generators, it doesn't significantly detract from the overall positive experience of the campground.
A standout feature of Seawall Campground, consistently highlighted by visitors, is the cleanliness of its facilities. One reviewer specifically mentioned that "Bathroom facilities are well kept," while another described the "restrooms" as "amazingly clean." Clean and well-maintained restrooms are a crucial aspect of any campground, and the positive feedback in this regard indicates a commitment to providing a comfortable and hygienic environment for guests. Additionally, the availability of "trash bins" and "spigots for water" further contributes to the convenience and cleanliness of the campground.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of wildlife in the area. One visitor enthusiastically noted, "Loads of deer around!" This provides a wonderful opportunity for wildlife viewing and adds to the natural charm of the campground. Observing deer in their natural habitat can be a memorable and enjoyable experience for campers of all ages.
While Seawall Campground offers a quieter setting away from the main crowds of Acadia National Park, it still provides reasonable access to the park's attractions. One reviewer mentioned that "this is a great campsite if you don’t mind the 30 min drive back to black woods and the rest of the park." This indicates that while it might not be within immediate walking distance of some of the park's central areas, it is still a viable option for those planning to explore Acadia and prefer a more peaceful basecamp. The 30-minute drive allows guests to enjoy the tranquility of Seawall Campground while still being able to easily access the hiking trails, scenic drives, and other attractions within Acadia National Park.
Promotional information is not explicitly stated in the provided reviews. However, the positive feedback regarding the quiet atmosphere, clean facilities, and proximity to both the coast and Acadia National Park serves as a strong implicit promotion. For local users seeking "camping near me" that offers a balance of natural beauty, tranquility, and access to outdoor activities, Seawall Campground presents a compelling option. The mention of deer adds a unique element that might appeal to wildlife lovers.
The fact that visitors specifically point out the well-kept bathroom facilities and the peaceful environment suggests that these are key selling points for Seawall Campground. For those who prioritize cleanliness and a quiet camping experience, this campground appears to deliver on both fronts. The availability of both tent and RV sites further broadens its appeal to a diverse range of campers.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" near Acadia National Park but seeking a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere, Seawall Campground in Southwest Harbor is an excellent choice. With its simple yet sufficient tent plots, clean and well-maintained facilities, and the peaceful sounds of the nearby ocean, it provides a tranquil coastal retreat. The abundance of deer adds a touch of natural wonder, and while it requires a short drive to reach some areas of Acadia, the overall experience of a quiet and clean campsite makes Seawall Campground a highly recommended option for your Maine camping adventure. Don't hesitate to call (207) 244-3600 or +1 207-244-3600 to book your peaceful coastal camping experience.

Seawall Campground Reviews
A great spot in what feels like a quieter area away from the park's crowds. Tent camping plots are simple but sufficient, featuring a picnic bench and fire pit. Plenty of tree cover from any coastal winds and rains. Bathroom facilities are well kept. Plenty of parking available, though some sites have a little walk from the carpark. Loads of deer around!
Aug 23, 2024 · Shane WardVery quiet and clean. You can even hear the ocean at night. The restrooms are amazingly clean, trash bins available, and spigots for water. We were by the RVs in the back of area D and you can sometimes hear their generators. But overall, this is a great campsite if you don’t mind the 30 min drive back to black woods and the rest of the park.
Jul 25, 2024 · Jason WongBeautiful campground with small sites. The staff was friendly but the water main break shut down the bathrooms. No showers so expect to go off grounds for that. The bathrooms when usable were the clean but only had hand sanitizer. The location is... Out of the way so expect a 30 minute drive for most anything.
Aug 27, 2024 · nathan paquetteVery wooded and plenty of space and forest floor between sites. No hookups but temps were cool and heavy forest canopy keeps sun off RV. A bit of a challenge getting there as the road was closed because it was washed out. Close road made for a nice bike ride.
Jul 24, 2024 · Ima ZmanWe stayed in loop C, very nice. During our stay there was a problem with the water. They brought in portable toilets. But no one came around to let us know, that once the water was on again, that it needed to be boiled for drinking. They posted signs on the bathroom. But their were many workers buzzing around in their carts, that it would have been nice if they would have posted signs on the water spickets. Lots of people also used the water spickets areas to wash there dishes ( which is a no- no in our State) another place for a sign 🛑. We even saw a lady shaving her legs at the spicket too. Overall, campground is well maintained, and the staff were nice. Beautiful area.
