You can contact them at (570) 217-6147 or +1 570-217-6147. While one review praises the campground as a "very beautiful and peaceful place to stay" with "very nice playgrounds and areas to play," another detailed account raises concerns regarding the consistency and fairness of their campsite booking policies, particularly for those seeking annual sites.
Environment: Beautiful and Peaceful Setting
One of the provided reviews describes Old Sawmill Campground as a "very beautiful and peaceful place to stay." This suggests that the environment is a significant draw for visitors, likely featuring natural scenic beauty that contributes to a relaxing atmosphere. While specific details about the landscape (e.g., wooded areas, proximity to water, views) are not elaborated upon, the positive description paints a picture of a tranquil outdoor setting in the Winfield, PA region. For local users looking for "camping near me" where they can enjoy peace and natural beauty, Old Sawmill Campground appears to offer such an environment.
Services and Amenities: Playgrounds and Potential Booking Issues
Based on the reviews, we can gather some information about the services and amenities at Old Sawmill Campground:
- Playgrounds: One reviewer specifically mentioned "very nice playgrounds and areas to play," indicating that the campground caters to families with children, providing recreational facilities for them.
- Annual Campsites with Waiting List: The detailed negative review pertains to the process of trying to secure an annual campsite and being placed on a waiting list with a deposit. This suggests that annual sites are offered.
- Inconsistent Booking Communication: The negative review highlights a discrepancy in communication between the camp host and her husband regarding the booking process, leading to confusion and a feeling of unfair treatment for prospective long-term campers.
While the playground amenity is a clear positive for families, the experience described in the other review raises questions about the reliability and consistency of the campground's booking procedures, especially for annual stays. For locals considering "camping near me" for either short visits or longer-term arrangements, it's important to be aware of both the positive aspects and the potential complexities in dealing with the management.
Features: Family-Friendly with Play Areas, but Potential Policy Concerns
The features of Old Sawmill Campground seem to include:
- Family-Friendly Focus: The presence of "very nice playgrounds" suggests that the campground is geared towards families looking for a recreational camping experience.
- Annual Site Options: The existence of a waiting list for annual campsites indicates that long-term stays are an option, appealing to locals who might want a seasonal getaway.
- Potential for Inconsistent Management Practices: The negative review points to a potential issue with communication and adherence to stated or implied policies by different members of the management.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that is family-oriented with play areas, Old Sawmill Campground seems to fit. However, the detailed account of booking difficulties should give potential long-term campers pause to ensure clear and consistent communication with the management regarding site availability and policies.
Promotional Information: Beauty and Playgrounds Highlighted
The positive review, praising the beauty and peacefulness of the location along with the nice playgrounds, serves as a form of positive promotion, particularly for families and those seeking a tranquil camping experience. This suggests that the natural setting and recreational facilities for children are key selling points. However, the lack of any official promotional material in the provided text means we must rely on these customer experiences to gauge what the campground emphasizes. For locals looking for "camping near me" with these attributes, Old Sawmill Campground presents itself favorably through one camper's positive experience.
Your Local Option: Weighing Beauty and Booking Experiences
For local residents of Winfield, PA, searching for "camping near me," Old Sawmill Campground at 1499 Seven Kitchens Rd appears to offer a beautiful and peaceful environment with appealing amenities like playgrounds, making it attractive for families. However, the detailed account of difficulties encountered while trying to book an annual site raises concerns about potential inconsistencies in management practices. If you are considering a shorter stay and value a scenic location with play areas for children, the positive review suggests a pleasant experience. If you are interested in a longer-term arrangement, it would be prudent to seek clear and consistent information regarding their policies and procedures directly from the campground management to avoid potential issues similar to those described in the negative review. Ultimately, Old Sawmill Campground presents a mix of positive feedback regarding its environment and amenities, alongside a cautionary tale about booking processes.

Old Sawmill Campground Reviews
We were placed on a waiting list for an annual campsite. We paid a $500 deposit and received a receipt. Because we were not in the area at the time, other campers looked at the available site for us to make sure our motorhome would fit. It did and we were quite satisfied even on a speaker call with the camp host. the next day we receive a call from the camp host's husband saying she misspoke and that she should have never allowed us to pay a deposit and agree to the site without meeting us face to face. This is not in any of their rules. He was insistent on returning the deposit unless we could meet them face to face, knowing we were in New Mexico at the time. Many of the other campers have never met him and we met her face to face last season when we asked for our name to be put on the list. We offered to pay in full and sign a contract that we were fine with the site unseen. He was belligerent and said he just wanted to give the deposit back and he would call us later after discussing with his wife. He never called. We feel there is an underlying reason, perhaps because we are a non-traditional couple. The wife had no issue, took the application and gave a receipt. campers beware.

May 08, 2023 · Ransom NerhoodSaid they were open 24 hours, showed pics of winter camping. Got there, closed, gate barred. No place to turn around. Stuck in ice and snow on road. Don’t advertise open if you are not!!
Feb 14, 2022 · Debra StaceyPoor management, unfriendly campers, boat ramp is the absolute worst, says its public with a $5 fee but they turn everyone down and threaten you with firearms. Not a family friendly place. Almost seemed like I was in prison. Steer clear people!
