Olson Campground WORTHINGTON Introduce
For local residents seeking a convenient and enjoyable "camping near me" experience in southwestern Minnesota, Olson Campground in Worthington emerges as a highly recommended destination. Located at 951 N Crailsheim Rd, Worthington, MN 56187, USA, this campground has garnered positive reviews for its peaceful atmosphere, clean facilities, spacious campsites, and proximity to a beautiful lake. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or an overnight stop, Olson Campground appears to offer a comfortable and well-equipped base for your outdoor adventures.
The environment surrounding Olson Campground is notably characterized by its lakeside location. Situated "next to a lake," the campground offers the potential for scenic views and easy access to water-based activities, although the specific nature of these activities isn't detailed in the reviews. The presence of a lake often enhances the tranquility of a campground, providing a natural focal point and opportunities for leisurely strolls along the shore. One reviewer specifically mentioned doing a "walk around the lake, about 8km all flat plants of shade," indicating a well-maintained and enjoyable trail encircling the water. This lakeside trail, offering both shade and flat terrain, seems ideal for walking, jogging, or leisurely bike rides, providing a great way to experience the local scenery.
Beyond the lake, the campground itself is described as "very peaceful" and "quiet" by one visitor, suggesting a serene and relaxing atmosphere. This tranquility makes Olson Campground an attractive option for those seeking an escape from the noise and bustle of urban life. The ability to unwind in a peaceful setting is a key draw for many campers, and Olson Campground seems to deliver on this front. However, another reviewer noted that while their "normal tent spot was beautiful in the daytime," there was "a lot of noise from the road" at night, which affected a light sleeper. This suggests that while the general ambiance is peaceful, campsite location within the campground might influence the level of noise experienced. Opting for a "lake view" spot was recommended by this reviewer as a potential way to mitigate road noise.
The facilities at Olson Campground receive positive feedback in terms of cleanliness and functionality. One reviewer specifically mentioned a "clean bathroom with hot showers," which are highly valued amenities for campers seeking comfort and convenience. Clean and well-maintained restrooms and the availability of hot showers can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, especially for longer stays. The positive remarks about these facilities indicate that Olson Campground prioritizes the comfort and hygiene of its guests.
For those traveling in recreational vehicles, Olson Campground appears to be well-equipped. The reviews highlight that "RV spaces are wide and easy to get into." Spacious RV sites are a significant advantage, providing ample room for maneuvering larger vehicles and setting up camp comfortably. Easy access to sites reduces the stress of parking and allows for a more relaxed arrival and departure. The presence of "full hook-ups" for RVs is not explicitly mentioned, but the ease of access and wide spaces suggest that the campground is well-suited for RVs. Inquiring about the availability of electric, water, and sewer hookups would be a crucial step for RV travelers.
Another appreciated feature at Olson Campground is the presence of "great" fire pits. Fire pits are a quintessential element of the camping experience, providing a focal point for socializing, cooking, and enjoying the warmth and ambiance of a campfire. The positive comment about the fire pits suggests that they are well-designed and maintained, contributing to an enjoyable outdoor atmosphere.
The staff at Olson Campground also receive commendation for their friendliness. One reviewer mentioned that a "Lovely lady checked us in and gave us some advice on the local area." Friendly and helpful staff can greatly enhance a camper's experience by providing a welcoming atmosphere and valuable local knowledge. This positive interaction at check-in suggests that guests can expect courteous and helpful service during their stay.
Regarding pricing, one reviewer noted that the "price was only $35/night," which was considered reasonable for their stay. This suggests that Olson Campground offers competitive rates, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious local campers. However, it's important to note that prices can vary depending on the type of campsite, season, and other factors. Local users should contact the campground directly to inquire about current rates and any potential discounts for local residents or longer stays.
While no specific promotional offers are mentioned in the reviews, it is always advisable for local users to inquire about any available deals or packages when contacting Olson Campground. This could include discounts for weekend stays, off-season rates, or special offers for local residents. Checking the campground's website or social media pages, if available, might also reveal any current promotions.
To obtain comprehensive information about the services and features offered at Olson Campground, including the types of campsites available (tent, RV, lake view, standard), the specific amenities at each site (hookups, etc.), restroom and shower facilities, fire pit availability, and current rates, local users should contact them directly by phone at (507) 372-8600 or via mobile phone at +1 507-372-8600. Speaking with the campground staff will provide the most accurate and up-to-date details and allow you to inquire about reservations and any specific needs you might have.
In conclusion, Olson Campground in Worthington, Minnesota, appears to be a well-regarded "camping near me" option, particularly appealing for its lakeside location, peaceful atmosphere (with the caveat of potential road noise in standard tent spots), clean facilities including hot showers, spacious RV sites, and friendly staff. The presence of a scenic lakeside walking trail and well-maintained fire pits further enhances its appeal. The mentioned affordable price point adds to its attractiveness. Local residents seeking a convenient and comfortable camping experience in the Worthington area should definitely consider Olson Campground and contact them directly for more details and to make a reservation, perhaps inquiring about a lake view site for a potentially quieter night's sleep.

Olson Campground WORTHINGTON Reviews
We stayed here on the way to Mt. Rushmore and then again on the way home! The price was only $35/night, and the location is perfect! Just off I-90 and next to a lake! Very peaceful, quiet campground. RV spaces are wide and easy to get into. The fire pits are great, too. Staff was friendly.
Aug 12, 2024 · Mike SlagelNice area, clean bathroom with hot showers too. Lovely lady checked us in and gave us some advice on the local area. We did the walk around the lake, about 8km all flat plants of shade, we would definitely recommend doing this walk. I would also recommend upgrading to a lake veiw, we stayed in a normal tent spot which was beautiful in the daytime however at night there was a lot of noise from the road and as a light sleeper this kept me up (my partner slept well all night) This is the only reason for giving it four stars and not five stars.

Sep 17, 2024 · sergio esquivelBeautiful little city campground. Right on the lake and had lots of shade with mature trees. The sites are pretty level and plentiful. We were able to find a spot on a Friday evening in the summer with no reservation. All of the sites are 50 amp and there are water spigots for filling and a dump station. There is a playground and a bath house and a pavilion available. The woman working the check in is very friendly.
Jul 23, 2022 · Kristene HeeneyStayed here in mid-July. City campground tucked into one of the nine public parks around Olson Lake. Shaded by mature trees with a breeze off the water. Level site, super clean bathouse with free showers. Loved the paved 5+ mile bike/walk trail around the lake. Play parks for kids. Dog friendly. Worthington is a very tidy town. Manicured lawns, pretty gardens. Shopping nearby. Would definitely stay again.
