Sam Robinson Memorial Park & Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Sibley, Iowa area? Consider Sam Robinson Memorial Park & Campground, located at Robinson Park, 1036 9th St. This campground offers a range of features that make it a convenient and potentially enjoyable stop for travelers and a local option for those seeking a quick getaway.
Based on recent visitor feedback, Sam Robinson Memorial Park & Campground serves as a "great stop" for those on a road trip. Its proximity to the "highest point in the state" adds a unique geographical interest to its location. One of the highlights mentioned by a guest is the availability of activities for families with young children. The presence of a playground and a splash pad right at the campground is a significant plus, providing entertainment and opportunities for kids to burn off some energy. This makes it a potentially attractive option for families looking for a camping experience where their toddlers can have fun.
The review also suggests that bringing bikes is a good idea, as the area is conducive to bike riding. This opens up opportunities for exploring the park and its surroundings at your own pace, adding a recreational element to your stay. The mention of "easy to navigate pathways" in another campground review (likely a different one, but the sentiment of accessible paths can often apply to similar parks) could also hint at bike-friendly terrain here.
In terms of facilities, the bathrooms are described as "typical public park bathrooms." While this might imply basic amenities, it's essential to have these facilities available. However, one specific issue was raised regarding the shower, which was reported as being "way too hot." The reviewer expressed hope that the temperature on the hot water heater would be adjusted. This is a point to be aware of, particularly for those planning to use the shower facilities, especially with young children.
Another visitor noted the campground's convenient location near a city pool and a golf course. This proximity offers additional recreational options for campers who might want to swim or play a round of golf during their stay. The reviewer also mentioned that the campground was "very full in July," which indicates its popularity, especially during peak season. If you're planning a visit during such times, it would be wise to book in advance if possible.
A significant point raised in one of the reviews is the presence of a "fairly strong odor of pig manure" in the entire region. The reviewer acknowledged that it is a farmland area, but emphasized that the smell can be quite noticeable, especially for those not accustomed to it. This is an important factor to consider, particularly if you are sensitive to such odors. While it's a regional characteristic and not specific to the campground itself, it could impact your overall experience.

Sam Robinson Memorial Park & Campground Reviews
Great stop on our road trip. Near the highest point in the state. Definitely bring bikes to ride around. There is a playground and splash pad right there which was great for our toddler. Bathrooms are typical public park bathrooms. The shower was way too hot. I hope someone sees this and turns down the temp on the hot water heater. I couldn't let my toddler in the shower, I could barely stand to wash off. But still great for the price.
Sep 01, 2024 · Sarah/David WallNice little campground near city pool and golf course. Very full in July, of course. Be advised, if you're not from the area there is a fairly strong odor of pig manure in the entire region. Yes, it's farmland area, I know, but the smell is fairly strong.
Jul 20, 2024 · Gordon MedleyIt’s a nice little park, especially during off times like mid May on a Tuesday. There are only four other campers here and three seem to be unoccupied. Half or more of the sites will need more leveling blocks than normal so come prepared. I would definitely come back but not on a weekend or other popular time.Beware; the Google Maps link takes you to the town library. The Apple Maps link is correct.
May 14, 2024 · Gary SmithNice place. Not all sites have a 30 amp plug so if you have a 50 to 30 adapter things should be ok. Some of the sites are located below the community pool which has a lot of noise because of music and excited kids. If you don't want to deal with the noise get a site on the other end of the campground. Overall it's a nice place and we would return.
Aug 06, 2021 · Diane LangdonVery nice little park. Conveniently next to the pool and camp ground. The golf course is just little jaunt away. The pit is also nearby, so fishing is also a possibility however there won't be any whoppers pulled out of it. Fun for the little ones though.
