Oster Park Campground Introduce
For local users and travelers passing through southeastern North Dakota searching for "camping near me," Oster Park Campground, located on 5th Ave N in Ellendale, ND 58436, USA, offers a conveniently situated option within the town's Oster Park. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground appears to be a suitable choice for short stays and those seeking basic amenities at a reasonable price. To provide a detailed introduction for those exploring "camping near me," we will combine general knowledge of small-town park campgrounds with the specific feedback from recent visitors to offer a comprehensive overview of what Oster Park Campground might provide.
The environment of Oster Park Campground is inherently linked to its location within a small town park. Ellendale, North Dakota, is a rural community, and Oster Park likely serves as a local green space offering recreational opportunities. The campground's environment is described as being "right off hwy 11," indicating easy access for travelers. One reviewer noted enjoying a "nice sunset & a quiet night," suggesting a peaceful atmosphere typical of small towns, especially during overnight hours. The proximity to a police station, mentioned by another reviewer, might offer an added sense of security for campers. While primarily a functional stop, the park setting likely provides some green space and fresh air.
In terms of services and features, the customer reviews provide specific insights into the amenities available at Oster Park Campground. Electrical service is offered, with one reviewer mentioning a cost of "$15 for elec." However, it's important to note that the same review indicates that "the water tastes funny," which prospective campers should be aware of and might want to plan accordingly by bringing their own drinking water. Restroom facilities are available, featuring a "flush toilet," which is a significant convenience. However, the sink in the restroom has "only cold water," which might be a consideration for personal hygiene needs, especially during colder weather. The first review also mentions using the "Hooters(bathroom)" which was "clean enough," though it's unclear if this refers to a specific feature within the park or a nearby establishment used out of necessity. Overall, the amenities seem basic but functional for a short stay.
The reviews offer some information regarding pricing. One reviewer explicitly states a charge of "$15 for elec," implying that this might be the base rate for a site with electrical hookup. The earlier part of the same review, "(the water tastes funny)," is directly associated with this price. The other reviewer who described it as a "great place for last minute camp" did not mention the cost, suggesting it was acceptable for their needs. This indicates that Oster Park Campground likely offers budget-friendly rates, making it an attractive option for those seeking affordable "camping near me," particularly for overnight stops.
Beyond the specifics mentioned in the reviews, typical small-town park campgrounds might offer basic amenities such as picnic tables and trash receptacles at campsites. The presence of a park setting suggests there might be additional recreational facilities within Oster Park itself, such as playgrounds, walking paths, or open green spaces, which could be an added benefit for campers looking to stretch their legs or entertain children. The availability of these would depend on the overall facilities of Oster Park.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. The mention of a price of $15 for electric service gives a baseline cost, but potential campers should contact the provided phone numbers, (701) 349-3252 or +1 701-349-3252, to inquire about current rates, any additional charges (e.g., for water or non-electric sites, if available), and any potential discounts for longer stays. Given its nature as a small-town park campground, it might operate on a first-come, first-served basis, but it would be wise to confirm reservation policies, especially if planning to arrive late or during a local event that might increase demand.
For local users in Ellendale or those traveling through on Highway 11 and needing a convenient "camping near me" option for an overnight stop, Oster Park Campground appears to offer a basic and budget-friendly solution. Its easy access from the highway is a significant advantage for travelers. The quiet nights reported by one reviewer suggest a peaceful environment for rest. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with water taste and the cold water in the restroom sink and plan accordingly. The limited information on electrical service beyond the 20 amp mentioned by one reviewer (in a different campground review, likely an error in the source data association) means that RVers with high power demands should inquire specifically about electrical capabilities.
To obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information about Oster Park Campground, local users and travelers should contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiries should cover current nightly rates, the availability and capacity of electrical hookups, the water situation, the presence and condition of restroom facilities (including whether there are showers, which were not mentioned in the reviews), and any other amenities available at the campground or within Oster Park. Understanding these details will help potential campers make an informed decision about whether Oster Park Campground meets their needs for a short stay in Ellendale.
In conclusion, Oster Park Campground in Ellendale, ND, offers a conveniently located and seemingly budget-friendly "camping near me" option, particularly for overnight stops for those traveling on Highway 11. The environment is described as quiet, and the proximity to the police station might offer a sense of security. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with water taste and the limited restroom facilities (cold water sink) and should inquire directly about the electrical service capacity. For local users or those needing a simple and affordable place to camp for a night while passing through, Oster Park Campground is worth considering, but direct communication is essential to clarify the available amenities and current pricing.

Great place for last minute camp. We just stopped to exercise the dog. Across from police station. Hooters(bathroom) clean enough to not feel creepy washing the hands.
