Outdoor Adventure Retreats - Wilderness Cove Campground Reviews
GREAT place to stay!!. They lost almost everything during the floodings, but managed to rebuilt a magnificent place. They kept the spirit and restored all with new tents, buildings etc. This is THE time to visit: nice and quiet. Get there via the Baptist church, since some roads are still under construction. Free coffee in the morning and a friendly, smiling staff! We spotted 1 black bear and 3 american eagles during 1 day stay in our RV. The staff deserves support, so get there when you can!
Apr 30, 2025 · GBW BoelensMy stepson and I stayed in one of the river cottages and had the absolute best time. On-site management were awesome, very friendly, very knowledgeable and informative of the area. We did the 6 mile float with our own kayaks, which of course, we were shuttled upstream by campground staff. Such a great trip. Cottage was clean, a/c worked great, bathhouse and showers very nice. Made some awesome memories and will definitely return. Highly recommend.
Sep 22, 2024 · Rodney BridgesI have been coming here for years to go tubing but this year came for camping too. We stayed at one of the tent sites and it was perfect. Very clean, nice set up, showers (cold water only which was a little bit of a bummer) and bathrooms. We enjoyed our stay. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. We would recommend for both tubing and camping!
Aug 26, 2024 · Tamee ThomasI'm torn between 3 stars and 4, which could have been well remedied with more information on their website so that we knew better what to expect. The sites were much smaller than we thought, though some of the primitive tent sites were plenty big. The middle section of tent sites were barely big enough for our 3-person backpacking tent, and if we had any bigger, then we would've had to stay in the mulch area where the picnic table was. More photos of the primitive sites on the website would've given us a better idea of which site to choose. The map also only showed toilets in the primitive area, so we were ready to have to go back and forth to the bathhouse for showers. What we weren't expecting was to be told we weren't allowed to use the bathhouse (the only place with hot water) since we were tent camping, and that there would be outdoor showers, cold water only, with a thin, see-through shower curtain at the primitive sites. Not really conducive to bathing a toddler, but we would've appreciated knowing about the showers beforehand. We appreciated that when we bought firewood, they delivered it to our site, but we didn't appreciate the yelling between employees and rude behavior when we went to buy ice. The instructions that we received at check-in mentioned the importance of putting trash in the provided receptacles and being aware of bears in the area, but the two tiny trash cans were full from the time we got there on Saturday until we left Monday morning. And last, the security gate at the primitive sites would've been great except the solar power quick closing the gate on our second night, leaving the gate open for anyone to come in.
Sep 02, 2024 · Megan AgardiSmall but clean campground. We would return for another stay but in a different camp spot. Outdoor showers were hilarious to use with just a simple shower curtain for privacy. Trash cans weren't emptied for the 2 nights we stayed. Easy to miss the camp entrance 1st visit due to the busy main road. Lots of bicyclists in the area on the road during our weekend stay. Camp host/ manager was friendly & helpful whenever we interacted with or needed him.
