Paragon Dispersed Camping Area Introduce
Welcome to Paragon Dispersed Camping Area, a local option for those searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of West Liberty, KY 41472, USA. This campground offers a unique experience with campsites situated right on the water. Based on customer reviews, it presents both appealing natural features and some potential drawbacks that local users should be aware of when considering it for their camping needs.
The environment of Paragon Dispersed Camping Area is a significant highlight for some visitors. Several reviews mention the campsites being directly on the water, which suggests opportunities for water-related activities and scenic views. The presence of "plenty of tree coverage" indicates that many sites benefit from shade, which can be particularly welcome during warmer months. One reviewer even shared a photo/video of their view, implying a picturesque waterfront setting. The easy access to the campground, with "paved roads all the way to the campsite" and well-packed gravel at the sites, is also a notable environmental feature, making it accessible even for smaller vehicles like vans.
In terms of services and features, Paragon Dispersed Camping Area appears to offer a more rustic camping experience. The mention of waterfront campsites with shade and the easy access are key features. One review noted the potential for hammocks due to the tree coverage. There is also a mention of two "reasonably clean" port-a-potties, which suggests that basic sanitation facilities are provided. However, a significant limitation reported is the lack of cell service within the camping area, requiring a walk of about a mile up the road to get a signal. This lack of connectivity might be a feature for those wanting a digital detox but a crucial consideration for others.
While some reviews are positive about the location and ease of access, others raise serious concerns. One review from April indicates that out of ten sites, seven were underwater due to flooding, which locals apparently consider normal for that time of year. This suggests that potential visitors, especially during spring, should be prepared for possible site unavailability due to water levels. Furthermore, this reviewer noted "lots of trash along the waterline and in the overgrowth around the sites," which detracts from the natural beauty. Most alarmingly, they mentioned a sign warning that the "campground is possibly going to be closed permanently due to human feces, toilet paper and trash," despite the presence of port-a-potties. This raises significant concerns about the cleanliness and responsible use of the area by some visitors.
The mixed reviews paint a picture of a potentially beautiful location marred by issues related to flooding and littering. For local users searching for "camping near me," Paragon Dispersed Camping Area offers the allure of waterfront camping with easy access, but it also comes with the risk of flooded sites, potential overcrowding (though one reviewer experienced it as slow), and significant concerns about cleanliness and the possible future closure of the campground.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. Therefore, local users interested in camping at Paragon Dispersed Camping Area should be aware of the potential environmental conditions (flooding), the lack of cell service, and the reported issues with trash and sanitation. There is no indication of any special offers or promotions in the given information.
In conclusion, Paragon Dispersed Camping Area near West Liberty, Kentucky, offers waterfront campsites with shade and easy vehicular access. Some visitors have enjoyed its scenic beauty and tranquility, especially when not crowded. However, potential local users searching for "camping near me" must also consider the reported issues of seasonal flooding, the lack of cell service within the campground, and the concerning accounts of trash and sanitation problems, which have even led to a warning about potential permanent closure. It is crucial to be aware of these potential pitfalls when planning a visit.
For local campers seeking a waterside experience, Paragon Dispersed Camping Area might initially seem appealing. The positive aspects include the ease of reaching the sites and the natural setting. However, the recurring theme of flooding affecting site availability and the serious concerns about cleanliness and potential closure cannot be ignored. Local users should weigh these factors carefully against their preferences and perhaps have a backup plan in case of flooded sites or unsatisfactory conditions upon arrival.
Given the information available, particularly the negative review highlighting flooding and pollution issues, local users considering Paragon Dispersed Camping Area for their "camping near me" needs should proceed with caution. It might be wise to check recent conditions with local sources if possible before planning a trip. While the idea of waterfront camping is attractive, the practical realities reported by some visitors, including the lack of cell service and the environmental concerns, need to be taken into account for a fully informed decision.

Paragon Dispersed Camping Area Reviews
Spent our 9th anniversary here on a whim. Easy to access, paved roads all the way to the campsite. Gravel was well packed at the campsite so my little van was able to enter and exit without any issues.Campsites are right on the water with plenty of tree coverage for shade and hammocks. Photo/video was our view!Could be a bit crowded if all sites are occupied, but it was fairly slow while we were there and we never saw the neighbors. The only pitfall is there is no cell service here, so plan accordingly! We did manage to walk about a mile back up the road for enough service to check in with family but otherwise we enjoyed the break from our phones ;)
Sep 10, 2024 · Dog Alerts10 sites, only 3 available, 7 were under water due to flooding. Locals said that is normal for this time of year. My site on 4/13 vs 4/14. You can see how much the water rose overnight. Lots of trash along the waterline and in the overgrowth around the sites. Sign posted a warning that “campground is possibly going to be closed permanently due to human feces, toilet paper and trash”. There are 2 port-a-potties that were reasonably clean so not sure why people can’t use them. A shame that humans can ruin such a beautiful area. I’d definitely have a back-up plan if you plan on camping here.
Apr 20, 2024 · Jacki Swanston FaganI love how beautiful and accessible this campground is but the issue is the neighbors. My husband and I tried camping here twice and both times we had to call the police for domestic violence. Doesn’t feel safe to come back. 😢
