For local residents seeking a peaceful and somewhat secluded camping experience, Clear Creek Campground, located on Clear Creek Camp C Rd in Salt Lick, KY 40371, USA, offers a natural retreat within the "camping near me" category. The name itself suggests a setting alongside a clear creek, promising a tranquil environment. Based on recent customer reviews from April 2025, we can gather valuable insights into the campground's environment, services, and features to help local users decide if this is the right camping destination for them.
The environment of Clear Creek Campground appears to be quite natural and "out of the way," as described by a recent visitor. The presence of a creek, indicated in the name and location on "Clear Creek Camp C Rd," suggests a setting with the soothing sounds of flowing water and potential for creek-side relaxation. The surrounding area likely features the natural landscapes of rural Kentucky. The review mentions "good spacing between spots," indicating that campers can expect a degree of privacy and a less crowded feel compared to some other campgrounds. Additionally, the presence of "hiking trails in the area" suggests opportunities for outdoor exploration and enjoying the natural beauty beyond the immediate campsite. The reviewer also notes that the campground is located on a dead-end road with local traffic, implying a quieter and less disturbed environment. For local users seeking a peaceful escape into nature with opportunities for hiking and enjoying a creek-side setting, Clear Creek Campground seems to offer an appealing environment.
Based on the recent review, the services at Clear Creek Campground appear to be somewhat basic. The mention of "Older Vault Toilets" indicates that flush toilets and modern restroom facilities may not be available. The reviewer also explicitly states, "I did not find a dump station," which is important information for RV campers who require this service. The availability of cell service is also a significant consideration, as the review notes "No cell service." This suggests that campers should be prepared to be disconnected during their stay, which can be a positive for those seeking a true escape but crucial information for those needing to stay connected. The review does mention that the "bathrooms are not bad and were clean" during the reviewer's visit, which is a positive aspect of the facilities available. While specific details about water hookups or electric hookups are not provided, the review focuses on the absence of a dump station and the type of toilet facilities, suggesting that full amenities might be limited. Local users should be prepared for a more rustic camping experience in terms of services.
The features of Clear Creek Campground include "level spots all ok for campers," which is a practical benefit for both tent and RV campers, ensuring a more comfortable setup. The "good spacing between spots" is another notable feature, offering a sense of privacy and space. The presence of "hiking trails in the area" is a significant draw for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot. The fact that "Roads are all paved in the area" suggests that access to the campground is relatively easy and well-maintained. The "FCFS" notation in the review likely stands for "First Come, First Served," indicating that reservations may not be accepted, and campsites are allocated upon arrival. This can be a feature that appeals to spontaneous travelers but requires planning for those who prefer guaranteed spots. The "pretty nice and out of the way campground" description suggests a sense of seclusion and tranquility, which can be a key feature for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Local users who value privacy, hiking opportunities, and a quieter, more natural camping experience might find these features appealing.
As the provided information does not include any specific promotional details, it is challenging to outline any current offers for Clear Creek Campground. Campgrounds, especially those that operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are perhaps more rustic, may not always have extensive promotional campaigns. However, local users might find value in the inherent affordability that can sometimes come with more basic campgrounds. To inquire about any potential discounts for local residents or off-season rates, if applicable, it would be advisable to try and find a contact number or website for Clear Creek Campground through online search engines or camping directories. Given the limited information available, the primary focus should be on understanding the environment, services, and features to determine if it meets individual camping needs.
The location of Clear Creek Campground near Salt Lick, Kentucky, offers a natural setting that may be appealing to local residents seeking a getaway within a reasonable driving distance. The "out of the way" nature of the campground, combined with the presence of a creek and nearby hiking trails, suggests opportunities for a more immersive outdoor experience. The information about the lack of cell service might be a deterrent for some but a benefit for those wanting to disconnect. The understanding that the campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and has older vault toilets and no on-site dump station is crucial for local users to plan accordingly. Despite the more basic amenities, the positive sentiment in the review ("pretty nice campground") and the mention of cleanliness suggest a well-maintained natural camping option in the area. Local users who prioritize a natural setting and hiking over modern conveniences might find Clear Creek Campground a worthwhile "camping near me" destination.

Apr 25, 2025 · James JenkinsThis is a pretty nice and out of the way campground. The bathrooms are not bad and were clean when I was there. If you find yourself in the area and need a place to spend the night you should try this one.
Oct 19, 2024 · Brad D$15 Single $20 Double. Men and women's pit house, No shower. Fire ring, level gravel site. Shady sites. Creek was dry when we went. Poles to hang lights. Picnic table. No or low cell coverage is great for getting away. Potable water. Hors shoe pit. Quiet.
Oct 14, 2024 · Leeann FleenerI enjoyed this campground, having one of the prettiest sites helped. Facilities are nice. Surprisingly not busy over July 4 weekend.
Feb 01, 2024 · Greg WinslowThis primitive campground is nestled into the woods along side a creek near Cave Run Lake. Cell phone service here is limited at best, and the closest store is a couple miles down the road. Clear Creek Shooting range is right up the road, very close and very clean. Toilet houses are on site, as well as dumpsters. Wildlife spotting is very real here, and there are bears in the area. Overall, if you are looking for a primitive campground, this is a great place to spend a weekend!
