Park Mountain Campground Introduce
For local users in New York and those frequently visiting the Adirondack region who are searching for a consistent and conveniently located "camping near me" experience, Park Mountain Campground, situated at 500 Johnson Rd, Adirondack, NY 12808, USA, presents a compelling option. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this campground offers not only a tranquil environment immersed in nature but also a strategic location providing easy access to several of the Adirondacks' most beautiful lakes. Notably, its seasonal ticket option caters particularly well to those who plan to spend significant time exploring this stunning area.
The environment surrounding Park Mountain Campground is undoubtedly a major draw. Located in the heart of the Adirondacks, known for its vast wilderness, pristine lakes, and majestic mountains, the campground offers an immersive natural experience. Reviewers specifically mention the opportunity to "admire the nature around you," suggesting a setting characterized by scenic beauty, likely including woodlands, fresh air, and the peaceful sounds of the Adirondack wilderness. For those who cherish the natural splendor of upstate New York, Park Mountain Campground appears to be ideally situated to appreciate the region's inherent charm and tranquility.
One of the most significant features highlighted by a long-term visitor is the campground's exceptional location as a "base of operations" for exploring the surrounding lakes. Its proximity to the Northway (I-87), with just a ten-minute drive from the Pottersville exit, ensures easy access to the wider Adirondack region. More specifically, Schroon Lake is described as being "right next to the site," offering immediate opportunities for lake-related activities. Furthermore, the campground is conveniently located within a 10-15 minute drive of other popular destinations such as Lake George, Brant Lake, and Paradox Lake. This central location allows campers to easily embark on day trips to various lakes, each with its unique appeal and recreational offerings, and then return to the campground.
A particularly unique and advantageous feature of Park Mountain Campground is its "season ticket" system. This option appears to be a significant benefit for frequent visitors, providing a consistent place to stay throughout the summer season. For avid Adirondack enthusiasts who, like one reviewer, found it "difficult finding a consistent place to stay," this seasonal arrangement offers stability and convenience. The ability to have a reliable basecamp eliminates the hassle of repeatedly searching for and booking campsites, allowing for more time spent enjoying the region.
The seasonal ticket also offers the distinct advantage of being able to leave personal equipment at the campground. One reviewer specifically mentioned being able to leave their boat there, using the campground as a central point for their summer activities. This is an invaluable feature for those who enjoy boating, fishing, or other water sports, as it removes the logistical challenges of transporting and storing equipment. The campground essentially becomes a home away from home, tailored to an active outdoor lifestyle in the Adirondacks.
In terms of services and amenities, the reviews mention the presence of "fire pits, picnic tables, and camping area," which are essential for traditional camping experiences. These facilities support activities such as cooking over a campfire, enjoying outdoor meals, and providing comfortable spaces for relaxation and socializing. The mention of using these amenities for "great get togethers" suggests that Park Mountain Campground fosters a sense of community and provides a welcoming environment for groups of friends and families to spend quality time together.
Another reviewer, who has stayed at the campground multiple times over the past decade, echoes the sentiment of it being "nice and quiet," further emphasizing the tranquil atmosphere and its appeal for those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature. Fond memories of "making smores and telling stories around the campfire" highlight the classic camping experiences that Park Mountain Campground facilitates, suggesting a focus on simple pleasures and connecting with nature and loved ones.
While the reviews provide strong positive feedback regarding the location, environment, and the unique seasonal ticket option, they do not offer specific details about the types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV sites, hookups), the presence of other amenities such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, or recreational areas beyond the fire pits and picnic tables. There is also no information provided about any specific rules or regulations of the campground, or whether services like Wi-Fi are available.
Similarly, the limited information does not include any details about promotional offers, seasonal rates for the ticket, or any discounts for extended stays or group bookings. Local users interested in learning more about the specifics of the seasonal ticket, daily or weekly rates (if available), amenities, and any current promotions are encouraged to contact Park Mountain Campground directly at (518) 290-0237 or +1 518-290-0237. Speaking with the campground management will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information to help plan a visit or secure a seasonal ticket.
In conclusion, for local users and frequent visitors to the Adirondacks seeking "camping near me," Park Mountain Campground offers a strategically located and tranquil basecamp. Its proximity to multiple major lakes, including the immediately adjacent Schroon Lake, makes it ideal for exploring the region. The unique seasonal ticket option, allowing for consistent stays and the convenience of leaving equipment like boats on-site, is a significant draw for those who spend considerable time in the Adirondacks. The availability of fire pits and picnic tables supports classic camping experiences and group gatherings. While further details about specific amenities and rates require direct inquiry, the positive reviews underscore the campground's appeal as a reliable and enjoyable destination for experiencing the beauty of the Adirondacks.

Park Mountain Campground Reviews
The Adirondacks are my favorite area in the entire state of New York. As soon as the snow melts, I'm in the mountains or on the lakes. I spend so much time there, but it was difficult finding a consistent place to stay.Enter Park Mountain Campground. This has been a lifesaver for me. It's about a ten minute drive from the Pottersville exit on the Northway, but from there I was able to go everywhere. Schroon Lake is right next to the site! Lake George, Brant Lake, and Paradox Lake are close too, all within 10-15 minutes. The best part is, since the campground is a season ticket, I was able to leave my boat there and use it as my base of operations during the summer. We would take day trips to one of the lakes, and come back to the site to use the fire pits, picnic tables, and camping area to have great get togethers. If you're a fan of Adirondacks, and like to spend time there, I can't recommend using Park Mountain Campground enough.
Jan 20, 2024 · Ben MaxI've stayed at this campground a few times in the last decade with friends. Its nice and quiet, great spot to admire the nature around you. Fondest memories include making smores and telling stories around the campfire.
Jan 08, 2024 · Vincent TraversaPerfect spot for a relaxed getaway. Centrally located near Schroon Lake, Brant Lake and Pharaoh Wilderness Area. Lots of stuff to do nearby!
Jan 08, 2024 · Spencer RomeuI reserved a site at this campground, never got a confirmation email or anything. Tried to email and called them a few times with no answer or call back ever. We showed up and no one was there, there was no sign or anything to indicate where to check in or any sort of office. It was unclear where the campground actually was. We luckily found another campground nearby to stay at.
Sep 04, 2022 · RoseWonderful. Close to amenities but secluded. A place to be at peace with nature and share memories with friends and family.
