Pine Creek Campground Introduce
Seeking a straightforward and private "camping near me" option in a convenient location? Consider Pine Creek Campground, situated off ID-31 near Hyattville, Wyoming. While described as a basic campground, it receives positive reviews for its private campsites, cleanliness, and affordability, especially for seniors. If you're looking for a no-frills camping experience with essential amenities and a sense of seclusion, Pine Creek Campground might be an excellent choice for your next overnight stop or short camping trip.
The Environment of Pine Creek Campground
Pine Creek Campground is characterized by its relatively small size, with "maybe a dozen sites or so." A significant environmental feature, appreciated by reviewers, is the privacy afforded by the vegetation surrounding each campsite. Campers have noted that each site is quite private, with natural vegetation acting as a buffer on three sides. This creates a sense of seclusion and allows for a more intimate connection with the natural surroundings, despite the campground's proximity to the highway.
The campground's location directly off the highway (ID-31) offers easy access for travelers passing through the area. While this convenience is a plus for those on the move, it's important to note that some highway noise might be present. However, one reviewer specifically mentioned that the campground was "extremely quiet" during their overnight stay, suggesting that the noise level may not be overly disruptive, especially when traffic slows down.
The surrounding environment is likely typical of Wyoming, potentially featuring a mix of trees, shrubs, and the natural terrain of the region. The presence of bear proof food lockers at each site indicates that the campground is located in or near bear country, highlighting the need for campers to be aware of wildlife safety precautions. The overall atmosphere seems to be one of basic natural beauty, prioritized for privacy and convenience rather than extensive amenities.
Services and Amenities at Pine Creek Campground
Based on the customer reviews, the services and amenities at Pine Creek Campground are somewhat limited but cater to basic camping needs:
- Private Campsites: As mentioned, each of the dozen or so campsites offers a significant degree of privacy due to the surrounding vegetation. This is a key feature that many campers appreciate.
- Fire Ring at Each Site: The presence of a fire ring at every campsite allows campers to enjoy campfires (subject to local regulations and fire conditions). This is a standard and desirable amenity for many camping enthusiasts.
- Bear Proof Food Locker at Each Site: The inclusion of a bear proof food locker at each site is a crucial safety feature in bear country, providing a secure place to store food and scented items, protecting both campers and wildlife.
- Very Clean and Odorless Pit Toilet: Despite being a basic facility, the pit toilet is consistently described as "very clean & odorless" and "well cared for." This indicates that the campground management prioritizes the maintenance of this essential amenity.
- No Hookups: It is explicitly stated that there are no hookups available at the campsites. This means there are no electrical, water, or sewer connections for RVs or other camping units. Campers should be prepared for dry camping.
The lack of hookups suggests that this campground primarily caters to tent campers and RVers who are self-sufficient in terms of power and water. The focus is on providing a private and safe base for exploring the area or for an overnight stop during travel.

Pine Creek Campground Reviews
Maybe a dozen sites or so right off the highway. Each site is quite private with vegetation on 3 sides, a bear proof food locker & a fire ring. $7 with your senior pass, $14 otherwise. No hookups but there is a very clean & odorless pit toilet. We only stayed 1 night as we were passing through but it was extremely quiet.
Jul 20, 2021 · Lynn VenturaVery basic dispersed camping. Only a fire ring but the sites were pretty level & private. Easy access from the highway Only $7 if you have a senior pass - $14 otherwise! (Pit toilet but well cared for.) Good stop!
Jul 18, 2021 · don venturaYes, it's close to the road, but you know that when you pull in. $10 per night is a great price. Very clean and small enough to be cozy. A nice, clean vaulted restroom. A firepit at each site, but no water point so bring the water you need. There was no camp host, but someone came around to check payments. Also, no firewood for sale so bring it if you want it.
Sep 15, 2019 · David BarnesGorgeous this time of year. Easy access from Swan and so close to Victor/33. Even in late September the creek was still rushing along.
Oct 01, 2023 · Todd BeckGreat views and great times, really the only downfall was all the trash. We took 3 walks and filled bags of trash and left the place better then when we arrived.
