Reunion Flat Group Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a fantastic "camping near me" option specifically designed for group outings, Reunion Flat Group Campground, located on Teton Canyon Rd in Alta, WY 83414, USA, offers a unique and potentially picturesque setting. While the provided information is somewhat limited, it highlights key aspects that make this campground a consideration for group camping experiences in the Teton region.
Reunion Flat Group Campground is situated in the Teton Canyon area near Alta, Wyoming. One of the notable features mentioned is its proximity to hiking trails. A 3.5-mile hike is referenced, which is described as "fairly steep at parts" but manageable for a group including young individuals. This suggests that the campground offers access to more challenging terrain for those seeking adventurous hikes. The reward for this hike is reaching the top, where visitors can enjoy "breath taking view of the Tetons." The option to ride a tram back down for free (if energy is low) adds a unique element and convenience, particularly for groups with varying fitness levels.
The campground itself is noted for retaining trees within the group site, which is a desirable feature often sought after for shade and a more natural camping feel. The presence of a creek is also highlighted as a positive attribute. Several bridges crossing the creek, apparently built as Boy Scout service projects, suggest the presence of a water feature that could enhance the camping experience.
The tent area within the group site is described as "well shaded," making it a comfortable place to set up camp, especially during warmer months. While there is no natural shade directly over the picnic tables, the surrounding trees are effective at dampening the wind, turning gusts into a gentler breeze. This natural windbreak could make setting up tarps or pop-up canopies over the picnic tables a viable option for shade.
One practical concern mentioned by a reviewer is the need for fence repair to keep cows out of the campground. The suggestion of adding barbed wire to prevent calves from crawling through indicates that the campground may be located in an area with grazing livestock. While this might add a touch of rustic charm, it's something to be aware of in terms of potential interactions with wildlife (domestic in this case) and the need to secure belongings.
Based on the limited information, the specific services and amenities at Reunion Flat Group Campground are not extensively detailed. However, we can infer some provisions:
- Group Camping Area: The primary feature is a designated group camping site capable of accommodating large tents or multiple smaller tents. The availability of "lots of small spaces for small tents" indicates flexibility in setting up camp for larger groups.
- Picnic Tables: The presence of picnic tables suggests designated eating areas for groups.
- Fire Pits (Implied): While not explicitly stated, fire pits are a common feature in campgrounds and are likely present for campfires and potential cooking (though this is not confirmed).
- Restrooms (at Trail End): The mention of restrooms at the top of the hiking trail suggests that toilet facilities are available, although their location relative to the campground itself isn't specified. It's important to clarify if there are also restroom facilities within the campground.
- Water Source (Implied): The presence of a creek suggests a potential natural water source, although its potability would need to be verified. Campgrounds often provide designated potable water sources, but this is not confirmed in the provided text.
- Bear Safety (Implied): Given the location in Wyoming near the Tetons, it's highly likely that bear safety guidelines are in place, and campers should expect to follow regulations regarding food storage and disposal. The presence of bear boxes, as seen in other nearby campgrounds, would be a reasonable expectation, but this is not explicitly mentioned.
Reunion Flat Group Campground appears to offer several key features appealing to group campers:
- Group-Oriented Site: The campground is specifically designed to accommodate larger groups, offering ample space for tents and communal activities.
- Shaded Tent Area: The well-shaded tent area provides a comfortable camping environment, especially during hot summer days.
- Creek Access: The presence of a creek adds to the natural beauty of the site and may offer opportunities for gentle exploration or simply enjoying the sound of running water.
- Hiking Opportunities with Teton Views: The proximity to a hiking trail leading to "breath taking views of the Tetons" is a major draw for groups interested in scenic hikes. The option of a free tram ride down adds a unique and convenient element.
- Natural Windbreak: The trees surrounding the picnic area offer a natural buffer against strong winds, enhancing comfort during outdoor meals and activities.
The provided information does not include specific promotional offers or pricing details for Reunion Flat Group Campground. Local users interested in booking this group site would need to contact the relevant managing authority (likely the National Forest Service or a similar agency) to inquire about availability, fees, and reservation procedures. Contact information is not provided in the text.
Based on the available reviews, groups choosing Reunion Flat Campground can expect a camping area with good tree cover for shade and access to a creek. The site appears suitable for both large and small tents, offering flexibility for different group setups. The proximity to a hiking trail with stunning Teton views and the unique option of a free tram ride down are significant attractions.
Potential campers should be aware of the reported issue with the fence and the possible presence of livestock. It would be wise to take precautions to secure food and belongings. Additionally, clarifying the availability of on-site restrooms and potable water sources with the managing authority is crucial for planning purposes.
While the information is somewhat limited, Reunion Flat Group Campground seems to offer a natural and potentially scenic group camping experience in the Teton Canyon area. Its proximity to hiking and the group-oriented layout make it a viable option for local users seeking a "camping near me" destination for larger gatherings who appreciate a more rustic and nature-focused setting. Further research into the specific amenities and reservation process through official channels is recommended for those considering this campground.

Reunion Flat Group Campground Reviews
It is only a 3.5 mile hike, but it gets fairly steep at parts. We went as a church group with our young woman and it was doable enough for them. We hiked to the top, had lunch and were able to ride the tram back down. It is free to go back down if you don't have enough energy. There are restrooms at the top and breath taking view of the Tetons.
Jul 10, 2021 · Samuel BirdIt's not often you find a group site that still has trees. The fence needs to be repaired to keep the cows out. Barbed wire would be a wonderful addition to keep the calves from crawling thru the fence. But the creek was great. There are a few bridges across it from what looks like boy scout service projects. There are areas to put large tents, or lots of small spaces for small tents. It's well shaded in the tent area. No shade over the picnic tables, but a tarp canopy can be rigged. Or even a pop-up canopy would work as the trees do great at dampening the wind (turns gusts into a breeze).
Aug 24, 2020 · Bri CGreat location and I give 5 stars to the host. We have traveled to 28 states and never found cleaner restrooms anywhere. In addition they are nice, friendly and caring.

Jul 02, 2018 · Aubrey YoungGreat site for groups or there are a couple individual sites. You have a short drive down the dirt road main road to the campground and there are some amazing views. All the spots were well kept with great fire pits and tables.
