For inquiries, you can contact them at (307) 543-3100 or +1 307-543-3100. This campground is a highly sought-after destination, particularly for tent campers seeking an immersive experience in the Teton landscape.
The environment surrounding Jenny Lake Campground is nothing short of spectacular. Nestled near the iconic Jenny Lake, campers are treated to breathtaking views of the towering Teton Range reflected in the pristine waters. The campground is situated in a picturesque location with easy access to the lake and its surrounding trails. The area is heavily wooded, providing shade and a sense of immersion in nature. The natural beauty of the area is a major draw, with opportunities for scenic walks, photography, and simply soaking in the stunning vistas. The proximity to Jenny Lake also makes it an ideal base for exploring the lake via boat tours or personal watercraft (where permitted).
Jenny Lake Campground is primarily a tent-only campground, offering a more traditional and intimate camping experience. Reviews suggest that the campsites offer a good amount of space and privacy between them, enhancing the feeling of being immersed in nature. A notable feature, given its location in bear country, is that each campsite is equipped with a bear box for safe food storage. This is a crucial amenity for ensuring the safety of both campers and the local wildlife. The campground host is mentioned as being incredibly helpful, contributing to a positive and well-managed camping environment.
While the natural setting and campsite privacy are highly praised, it's important to note the limited number of facilities. According to a review, there is only one bathroom and two showers available for the entire campground. This limited capacity can lead to potential wait times, especially during peak season. Campers should be prepared for this and plan accordingly. Despite the limited facilities, the cleanliness and maintenance of these amenities are not explicitly commented on in the provided reviews, so it's reasonable to expect standard National Park Service upkeep.
One of the standout features of Jenny Lake Campground is its stellar location for hiking enthusiasts. Many of the park's most popular and scenic trails are easily accessible from the campground. The review mentioning the 16-mile hike to Solitude Lake highlights the immense convenience of the campground's proximity to these trailheads. Whether you're planning a short lakeside stroll or a challenging trek into the backcountry, Jenny Lake Campground serves as an ideal starting and ending point for your adventures. The accessibility to these trails is a significant draw for those wanting to explore the iconic landscapes around Jenny Lake, including Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point, and the trails leading into Cascade Canyon.
Another major feature of camping at Jenny Lake is the incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. Grand Teton National Park is home to a diverse array of animals, and the area around Jenny Lake is no exception. One unforgettable experience shared by a camper was the sighting of a grizzly bear and her cubs walking right through their campsite, highlighting the importance of bear safety and the potential for truly wild encounters. Mule deer and countless chipmunks are also mentioned as frequent visitors to the campground, offering more common but equally enjoyable wildlife sightings. The presence of wildlife underscores the need to adhere to park regulations regarding food storage and maintaining a safe distance from animals.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the inherent appeal of Jenny Lake Campground lies in its prime location within Grand Teton National Park, offering unparalleled access to stunning scenery, exceptional hiking, and abundant wildlife. The positive experiences shared by previous campers serve as strong testimonials. The fact that one reviewer stated they would "100% stay here again if I could get a reservation" speaks volumes about the desirability of this campground. The key promotional message is the opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of the Tetons, with nature right at your doorstep.
It is crucial for local users considering Jenny Lake Campground to be aware that it is an extremely popular destination and reservations are essential. The limited number of campsites and the high demand, particularly during the summer months, mean that securing a reservation can be challenging. Reservations are typically available on a rolling basis, often six months in advance through Recreation.gov, and they tend to fill up very quickly. Planning well ahead is highly recommended to have any chance of securing a spot at this coveted campground.
In conclusion, for local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that offers breathtaking scenery, world-class hiking, and incredible wildlife viewing within Grand Teton National Park, Jenny Lake Campground is an exceptional choice. The spacious and private tent sites, coupled with the campground's prime location near Jenny Lake and numerous trailheads, make it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. While the facilities are limited with only one bathroom and two showers, the overall experience of being immersed in the heart of the Tetons often outweighs this inconvenience. Just remember that reservations are absolutely necessary due to the campground's immense popularity. Plan ahead, book early, and prepare for an unforgettable camping adventure at Jenny Lake Campground.

Jenny Lake Campground Reviews
Super awesome campground in one of America’s greatest national parks! I stayed here for 4 nights a few years back with my family and had a fantastic time. The hiking here is stellar, location is super picturesque, and the wildlife is amazing. One of the days the rangers let us know that a grizzly bear and her cubs were coming through, and they walked right through our campsite! It was a super cool experience, if a bit nerve wracking. I would 100% stay here again if I could get a reservation.
Oct 24, 2024 · Ben EldienOne of the best campgrounds I've ever stayed in! Lots of space and privacy in between campsites. Only one bathroom and two showers for the whole campground. Host was incredibly helpful. Saw a mule deer in our site and countless chipmunks. Bear country and each campsite is equipped with a bear box.We did the 16 mile hike up and back to solitude lake and were quite thankful our campground was so close. Would highly recommend if doing any Jenny Lake hikes!
Aug 12, 2024 · Lindsey MastThis is probably the best campground we have ever stayed in at a National Park. The privacy between campsites is great. Its tent only which is also a nice perk. They have clean bathrooms and have showers. This is the best campground! Joe and Jenny (the hosts) treated us like family! They were so helpful. We will definitely be back!
Jun 04, 2024 · Courtney RichardsJenny Lake Campground was a fun experience. I appreciated the privacy between each campsite, as there is ample space separating them. Each site has a parking spot for one car, and the land where you set up the tent is even, which was a nice bonus. They offer showers, which is convenient, although you do have to pay one dollar per minute. The downside is that there aren't many bathrooms; there is only one main bathroom. If your campsite is at the end of the campground, you will have to walk for five to seven minutes or take your car. However, there is no parking lot next to the bathrooms, which can be inconvenient.Other than that, it is a wonderful campground with stunning views of the Tetons. We even saw a coyote hanging out, which added to the fun.Overall, it was a great camping experience.
May 28, 2024 · Cherif ArifBeautiful campsite. Sites 44+ gets you mountain views. Most others are forested. Campsite hosts were very friendly and helpful.Very pricey for a solo traveler and you've got to pay for showers on top of that. If they're gonna charge that much and give you the bear lecture (black bears are very active in that area) they should at least put in a dishwashing facility.
