Pine Glen Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Heflin, Alabama area seeking an affordable "camping near me" experience, Pine Glen Campground, located at Pine Glen Campground, Heflin, AL 36264, USA, presents a budget-friendly option. Reviews from campers highlight its inexpensive pricing and generally quiet and peaceful atmosphere, even when the campground is relatively full. While some aspects of the amenities, particularly the pit toilets, receive less favorable comments regarding cleanliness and functionality, the overall sentiment suggests that Pine Glen Campground offers a decent and very cheap campsite, especially for those prioritizing affordability and access to nature, including day hiking trails.
The environment surrounding Pine Glen Campground in Heflin, Alabama, appears to be conducive to a peaceful outdoor experience. The reviews mention it being "very quiet and peaceful," suggesting a tranquil setting that allows campers to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. The fact that "lots of day hikers come through" indicates that the campground is likely situated in an area with accessible hiking trails, making it appealing for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot. While specific details about the landscape (e.g., wooded areas, terrain) are not provided, the name "Pine Glen Campground" itself suggests a setting characterized by pine trees and possibly a glen or valley, contributing to a natural and potentially scenic environment. For local users who appreciate a quiet camping spot with opportunities for hiking nearby, Pine Glen Campground could be a suitable choice.
The services at Pine Glen Campground seem to be basic, aligning with its budget-friendly pricing. The only specific amenity mentioned in the reviews is the provision of "pit toilets." However, it's important to note the feedback regarding these facilities: they are described as "not stocked or too clean," and the doors reportedly "don't really close." This suggests that campers should come prepared with their own toiletries and be aware of the basic and potentially less-than-ideal condition of the restroom facilities. No mention is made of other common campground amenities such as water hookups, electricity, showers, or picnic tables, further indicating a more rustic camping experience. The lack of privacy is also noted in one review, suggesting that campsites might be in close proximity to each other or not well-defined by natural barriers. Despite these limitations in amenities and privacy, the campground is still considered "decent" by at least one reviewer, primarily due to its affordability.
The key features of Pine Glen Campground are its affordability and its access to hiking trails. The "cheap" and "inexpensive" pricing is a significant draw for budget-conscious campers. The presence of numerous day hikers suggests that the campground serves as a convenient base for exploring local trails, which is a major advantage for those interested in hiking and outdoor adventure. The generally quiet and peaceful atmosphere, even when the campground is near capacity, is another positive feature that appeals to those seeking a relaxing camping experience. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with the pit toilets and the lack of privacy at the campsites. For local users who prioritize low cost and hiking opportunities over developed amenities and privacy, Pine Glen Campground offers a viable option within the "camping near me" category.

To plan a visit to Pine Glen Campground, local users should be prepared for a more rustic camping experience with basic amenities. Bringing their own water, sanitation supplies, and ensuring they have adequate shelter and gear for a potentially less private campsite are advisable. The presence of day hikers suggests that the area is accessible and perhaps well-marked for hiking, so those interested should consider bringing appropriate footwear and trail maps. Contacting the campground directly at (256) 463-2272 or +1 256-463-2272 can provide more specific details about the campground layout, trail access points, and any guidelines for campers. Pine Glen Campground Reviews
Cheap. Lots of day hikers come through. Pit toilets provided but not stocked or too clean, and doors don't really close. No real privacy. But still a decent, really cheap campsite.
Mar 26, 2025 · Citizen AbouttownReally enjoyed camping and can't wait to return! Pricing is inexpensive, very quiet and peaceful Even when campgrounds are on the full side.
Apr 18, 2024 · Lauren GarmonWe loved our stay here. It was a quick one nighter but exactly what we needed. There is a pit toilet but no other amenities if you are wanting a shower. There is not electric or water or very much cell service at all but absolutely perfect for getting back to nature. Plenty of space between sites. A creek/small river runs by the right side of the campground. Forestry road to get there is an easy drive. Google maps will take you right to it. We will be going back soon.
Jun 04, 2021 · LeslieWe were there it's a pretty campground, nice people, lots of walking trails. We loved it! This time our car battery died, someone notified the Rangers & they helped us right away!! Nice guys Thanx guys. The "B" Hive
Jan 06, 2025 · Terri BowenStruck out on a whim not know where to go. Found this on the map. It's pretty remote in the National forest gravel road access. First come first serve but had our pick. Nice flat grounds. Our site had a picnic table, tent area, fire ring with a creek about 50 yards away. $3/nt to stay. Latrine style toilets were not pleasant smelling but I expected that. No cell service, no water or showers. Nice remote area to eplore by vehicle, hike the Pinhoti trail, explore some very remote fishing lakes nearby.
